Marlies Begin Four-Game Week Tonight with Tilt versus the Milwaukee Admirals Marlies Begin Four-Game Road Trip on Friday Night in Hartford Opponents This Week: (Dec. 14): The Marlies finish their four-game homestand on Monday night when they take on the Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, at 7:00 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. The game marks the first of four matchups between the two clubs this season. Milwaukee enters the game with a record of for 31 points, ranking them fourth in the West Division. Milwaukee begins a four-game week with their game on Monday versus Toronto. Last season the Marlies went against the Admirals, with their win coming in their most recent matchup on January 9 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The Marlies own an alltime record of against Milwaukee. The Admirals enter Monday s game on a three-game winning streak, during which they ve out-scored their opponents This will be the second contest of a four-game road trip for Milwaukee. They own a record of on the road and rank second last in the AHL with 391 penalty minutes. Forward Cal O Reilly paces the club with 24 points (four goals, 20 assists) and has a plus-eight rating. O Reilly, a Toronto-native, ranks fifth in the American Hockey League with 20 assists. He was reassigned by Nashville to the Admirals on December 11 after skating in three games with the Predators. O Reilly s assist on October 3 made him the Admirals all-time assists leader. Peter Olvecky leads the team with a plus-nine rating. On Sunday, the Predators Brendan Mikkelson scored his first goal as a Marlie on Sunday in the Marlies 7-2 loss to the Griffins. Toronto begins their four-game week with a tilt against Milwaukee on Monday night. reassigned defenceman Cody Franson to the Admirals. Franson, Nashville s third choice, 79 th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, ranks seventh among rookie defencemen in the NHL in points with seven (two goals, five assists). During Monday s game, the Marlies are hosting their second annual Teddy Bear Toss. (Dec. 18): Toronto begins a four-game road trip on Friday night when they travel to Hartford to take on the Wolf Pack, AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers. This will be the first meeting between the two clubs this season. Last year the Marlies went against the Wolf Pack, with both teams winning at home. Toronto owns a all-time advantage over Hartford. The Wolf Pack currently ranks sixth in the Atlantic Division with a for 32 points. Hartford has been one of the most impressive teams on home ice this season in the league, posting a record at the

2 XL Center. Their two regulation losses at home rank second in the league. Corey Locke paces the club with 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists), with eight of his goals coming on the man-advantage. Locke ranks first in the league in points and power play goals. He was also named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Month for November. During the month, Locke tallied five goals and 14 assists in 13 games. Bobby Sanguinetti paces all AHL defenceman with 23 points (six goals, 17 assists). Rangers prospect Matt Gilroy was assigned to the Wolf Pack on December 10. Gilroy appeared in the first 30 games of the season with the Rangers where he registered four goals and two assists. (Dec. 19): The Marlies will make their lone trip to play the W-B/Scranton Penguins, AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, on Saturday evening at the Wachovia Arena. The matchup will be the second and final game between the two clubs. The Marlies downed the Penguins 4-2 on November 1 at Ricoh Coliseum. Viktor Stalberg led the way for Toronto with two goals and two assist in the victory. Christian Hanson also chipped in with two goals and James Reimer made 34 saves. Toronto s power play went 2-for-4 in the game and their penalty killing unit didn t allow a goal on three attempts. The Marlies hold a all-time advantage over W-B/Scranton. The Penguins currently rank fourth in the East Division with a record for 28 points. W-B/Scranton is this year on home ice, out-scoring their opponents Their penalty kill at home is sixth in the AHL with a 91.1% success rate. Dustin Jeffrey leads the Pens in points with 26 (five goals, 21 assists) and ranks fourth in the AHL in assists. Goaltender John Curry ranks sixth in the league with 11 wins. In 21 games this season, Curry has a record of with a 2.42 goals-against average and save percentage. Luca Caputi ranks fourth in the AHL with seven power play goals. (Dec. 20): The Marlies finish their three game weekend with a tilt against the Hershey Bears, AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. This will be the first of two games between the Bears and Marlies this season. The clubs will meet again on February 25 at Ricoh Coliseum. Both teams have won four games in eight all-time matchups. Toronto dropped both games against the Bears last season. Hershey currently ranks first in the East Division with an record for 38 points. The Bears are at home this season and are overall in their past 10 games. The Bears have three players that rank in the top 10 in league scoring. Andrew Gordon (15 goals, 16 assists), Alexandre Giroux (10 goals, 19 assists) and Keith Aucoin (12 goals, 16 assists) all rank towards the top in the AHL in points. Aucoin netted a hat-trick (three goals, one assist) on Saturday night in the Bears 6-2 win over the Rochester Americans. Aucoin s hat-trick was his second of the season. Giroux and John Carlson both share the league lead with a plus-15 rating. Rookie defenceman, John Carlson has registered 19 assists in 26 games for the Bears. He ranks fourth (tie) in the American Hockey League for defenceman scoring with 20 points. Steve Pinizzotto (tie) leads all skaters in the AHL with three shorthanded goals. MARLIES HEADLINES: A Look Back at Last Week: The Marlies had their two-game winning streak snapped by the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday afternoon by a score of 7-2. Toronto started the week with a 10-round shootout victory over the Chicago Wolves at Ricoh Coliseum. The Marlies got second period goals from Tyler Bozak, Josh Engel, Viktor Stalberg and Jonas Frogren in their 5-4 win. The Wolves tied the game at 4-4 in the third period. In overtime, the Marlies couldn t score on the power play. In the shootout, Andrew Engelage made eight saves and Juraj Mikus won the game in the 10th round. Toronto suffered a 7-2 loss on Sunday to the Griffins to close out their week. Andre Deveaux and Brendan Mikkelson each scored in the Marlies loss. The Marlies currently rank sixth in the North Division with a record for 28 points. Home Sweet Home: The Marlies have been impressive on home ice so far this season, holding a advantage at Ricoh Coliseum. Despite their 7-2 loss on Sunday, Toronto has won seven of their last 11 games and has earned at least a point in nine of their previous 12 contests on home ice. They have killed off 54-of-64 penalties (84.4%) at Ricoh Coliseum. Toronto will finish their four-game homestand tonight against the Milwaukee Admirals. Leading the Marlies to Viktor-y: Viktor Stalberg registered an assist in the Marlies 7-2 loss on Sunday, extending his point streak to three games. On Friday night he scored his eighth goal of the season and was named the game s third star. Stalberg has netted at least a point in eight of his past 11 games (five goals, eight assists). In 18 games this

3 season, he s tallied eight goals and 12 assists for a team-high 20 points. Stalberg ranks first (tie) on the Marlies with six multi-point games. He ranks first (tie) on the club in goals and shorthanded points (two). Stalberg is tops on the team and fifth (tie) in the American Hockey League with two insurance goals. He shares fourth in the AHL in rookie scoring with 20 points. Killing Time: The Marlies penalty killing unit has only allowed four goals over their past eight games and they ve given up 10 power play goals over their last 18 contests. During that span they ve successfully killed off 75-of-85 penalties against (88.2%). The penalty killing unit ranks sixth on the road with an 87.7% success rate and ninth overall (86.0%). The Marlies have only allowed seven power play goals in 11 games away from Ricoh Coliseum. Christian Keeping the Faith: Christian Hanson registered an assist on Friday night in his first game back with the Marlies after being reassigned from the Maple Leafs on December 6. Hanson appeared in six games with the Maple Leafs, recording one assist and four penalty minutes with the big club. Hanson ranks second on the Marlies in points with 19 (eight goals, 11 assists). On November 20 in Lake Erie, he had the biggest night of his professional career, registering his first career AHL hat-trick and added an assist for four points. He currently ranks eighth (tie) in the American Hockey League in rookie scoring with 19 points. The Venetia, PA native ranks third on the Marlies with a plus-four rating. He also ranks first (tie) on the Marlies in multi-point games with six. Foster The Statistics: On November 23, the American Hockey League announced that Alex Foster was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 22. In three games, Foster recorded six points (five goals, one assist) and a plus-two rating. He s currently on a three-game goal streak which started on November 20 with a two-goal game against Lake Erie. Foster had missed the previous 10 games due to injury. In eight games this season, the Marlies assistant captain has registered six goals and two assists. Another Brick in the Wall: Engelage turned aside 18 saves and eight more in the shootout for his second career AHL victory on Friday night in the Marlies 5-4 win. Last Saturday against Hamilton he made a Marlies season-high 42 saves for his first career AHL victory in Toronto s 6-5 overtime win. James Reimer has guided the Marlies to at least a point in each of his past seven starts, with a record of during that stretch. Over his past six starts, he s recorded a save percentage and 2.06 goals-against average. Reimer turned aside 25 saves for his team-leading sixth win of the season on November 25 against the Monsters. In nine games this season, Reimer has a record of with a 2.29 goals-against average and save percentage. In nine games this season, Munro has compiled a record, with a 2.52 goals-against average and save percentage. Multi-Point Games: Tyler Bozak was the lone Marlie to notch a multi-point game over the weekend. It was Bozak s second multi-point game of the season. Christian Hanson and Viktor Stalberg share the team lead with six multi-point games this season. The Royals knocked off the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday, 4-2. Stefano Giliati netted the game-winning goal, his ninth of the season. Stefano Giliati ranks fourth on the Royals in points with 20 (nine goals, 11 assists). Giliati ranks second (tie) on the Royals in goals (nine) and is fourth on the club in assists (11). The Royals end their five-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Johnstown Chiefs.

4 Marlies Visit SickKids Hospital: Last Wednesday the Marlies participated in their annual visit to The Hospital for Sick Children. The full team took part in various activities with the children and their families. The event marked the official launch of an ongoing partnership between SickKids and the Toronto Marlies hockey club. A patient ambassador from the hospital was at the Marlies/Griffins game this Sunday for a ceremonial puck-drop. MARLIES QUICK HITS: - Tyler Bozak has recorded a point in five of his past nine games. On November 20 he added a career-high three assists, with two of them coming on the power play. In 19 games this season, he has tallied 12 points (three goals, nine assists). - Andre Deveaux is currently on a three-game point streak (three goals, one assist). He ranks first (tie) on the team in assists with Juraj Mikus notched his first multi-point game of the season last Saturday with two assists. Mikus ranks first on the club with six power play helpers. - The Marlies own a record of in one goal games this season. - Toronto owns a 3-0 record in the shootout on home ice, but has lost both shootouts (0-2) on the road this season. - Brennan Evans 83 penalty minutes currently ranks fourth in the AHL for defencemen. - Josh Engel scored his first goal of the season; his second of his AHL career, in the Marlies win on Friday. - Captain Ben Ondrus recorded his 300th penalty minute as a Marlie on December 5. The Marlies all-time games played leader also registered an assist and a plus-three rating. In 26 games this season, Ondrus has tallied seven points (three goals, four assists) and 15 penalty minutes. - The Marlies have been out-scored in the second period through 26 games this season, but have out-scored their opponents in the third period. Reebok/AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE For the week ending December 13, 2009, the Toronto Marlies nominated forward Tyler Bozak for consideration as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week. Bozak was named the game s first star of the night on Friday in the Marlies 5-4 shootout win over Grand Rapids. Bozak registered his second multi-point game of the season with a goal and an assist. This season in 19 games he s tallied 12 points (three goals, nine assists). 5 Recap: The Marlies used a 10-round shootout to win their second straight game on Friday night over the Chicago Wolves. After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined for seven goals in the second frame. Tyler Bozak, Josh Engel, Viktor Stalberg and Jonas Frogren all scored for the Marlies in the second period. Engel s tally was his first of the season and second of his AHL career. The Wolves tied the game at 4-4 mid-way through the third period. The Marlies had two, 5-on-3 advantages in overtime but failed to connect. In the shootout, Juraj Mikus registered the game-winning goal in the 10th round. Andrew Engelage turned aside 18 saves in the game, including eight more in the shootout for his second straight win. Bozak finished the game with his second multi-point contest of the season (one goal, one assist). Newbury finished the game with a goal and two assists; while Williams chipped in with two helpers. They were the game s first and second stars of the night. Andre Deveaux and Brendan Mikkelson scored the two Marlie goals. Mikkelson s tally was his first as a member of the Marlies and of the season. Toronto s penalty kill went a perfect 6-for-6 in the game. Grand Rapids scored three, second period goals on nine shots. Mikkelson, Darryl Boyce and Jonas Frogren shared a team-high, plus-two rating in the game.
