AHLLive.com Video... AHLLive.com WHAT TO WATCH FOR The Albany Devils host their Home Opener on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 5:05 pm against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Devils will try and carry over last season s success at Times Union Center where they owned a.742 winning percentage with a record. Before Saturday s affair, the Devils and Sound Tigers will meet at Webster Bank Arena. The game is the first divisional matchup for Albany. The team is scheduled to face Northeast Division opponents 36 times during the regular season. The Devils opened the season last Saturday with a commanding 5 1 victory against the Adirondack Flames at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Paul Thompson had four goals and Stefan Matteau registered a goal and an assist. Joe Whitney contributed three helpers. In goal, Keith Kinkaid made 34 saves. Thompson tied a franchise record with his four goals. He joined the likes of David Clarkson, Matt Halischuk, Tim Sestito, Chad Wiseman and Bobby Butler as the only Devils to score four goals in a game. Butler was the last player to accomplish the feat and did so against Thompson and his former team the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins on Dec. 12, Saturday s game marks the start of Mayor Kathy Sheehan s Cash for Coats initiative. Fans are encouraged to make a cash donation that will be used towards providing winter clothing for Albany s youth. Mayor Sheehan will drop the ceremonial puck. Also on Saturday, the first 5,000 fans to arrive will receive a Devils magnet schedule, courtesy of Albany Clothing and Promotions.

2 Albany Devils Weekly Release Page 2 NEWS & NOTES More on Thompson Paul Thompson, who signed with Albany this offseason, finished Saturday s game with a +3 rating and seven shots on goal. The right winger joined the Devils after splitting last season with Wilkes Barre/Scranton and Springfield. In 39 games with the Penguins, he had four goals and three assists. In 30 outings with the Falcons, he produced four goals and four assists. In , he had a career high 29 points, including 20 goals in 58 games with Wilkes Barre/Scranton. Two to Tie, Three to Lead Keith Kinkaid earned his 63rd career victory with his performance Saturday. He is two wins shy of tying Jeff Frazee ( ) for the franchise record. Kinkaid, who finished third in the AHL with a 2.29 goals against average last year, has played 131 career games, going He owns a 2.63 goals against average and a.907 save percentage. Back at it Joe Whitney, who led the team in scoring in (44 pts.), (51 pts.) and (53 pts.), registered three helpers during Saturday s win. The 2014 AHL All Star is the franchise s all time leader with 151 points, 63 goals and 88 assists. Off and Running Saturday s win at Adirondack was the Devils first opening night victory in franchise history. They entered the game Roster Set Albany s opening night roster featured 28 names, including 25 players who have suited up for the Devils in years past. Newcomers include Paul Thompson and rookies Ben Thomson and Joe Faust. Graham Black and Ben Johnson are also rookies, but the tandem played for Albany at the end of last season on amateur tryout agreements. In the NHL New Jersey began their season with a pair of wins at Philadelphia Tuesday (6 4) and at Florida Saturday (5 1). Of the 23 players on their roster, 11 have played for the Devils AHL affiliate. The Devils are overall with a home mark and a road record. Last season, Albany went against Bridgeport. During their last meeting on Apr. 11, Kelly Zajac netted a pair of goals and Keith Kinkaid made 22 saves, helping the Devils to a 2 1 victory at Times Union Center. Zajac scored his first goal at 18:52 of the opening period. After Bridgeport tied the game on a fiveon three power play in the second, Zajac netted the winner at 5:08 of the third. After this weekend, the Devils and Sound Tigers will meet at Times Union Center on Nov. 1, Nov. 23 and Jan. 10 and at Prudential Center on Jan. 21. The teams will face off at Webster Bank Arena on Nov. 8, Nov. 9, Jan. 3 and Jan. 4.
