SEPT. 26 PHILADELPHIA PRUDENTIAL CENTER 7:00 PM Coming into tonight For the Devils, tonight s contest marks the sixth/final game of an 11-day pre-season schedule, all vs. Eastern Conference opposition. The club enters the game following a 2-1 win Tuesday evening at Philadelphia to close-out the road portion of its pre-season schedule. Goaltender Martin Brodeur will miss tonight s game due to personal reasons. New Jersey will open the regular-season Thursday, October 3 at Pittsburgh (7:00 PM, MSG Plus, Sports Radio 66 AM & FM WFAN), before returning home the following night vs. the NY Islanders (7:00 PM, MSG, WFAN). Last game Sept. 24; New Jersey 2 at Philadelphia 1 The Devils took a 2-0 lead late into the third period with goals by Marek Zidlicky in the first and Mike Sislo (GWG) in the third. Zidlicky s score was his team-leading second of the season, while Patrik Elias, Eric Gelinas and Jacob Josefson lead the team with 1g-2a-3pts each through five games. Cory Schneider picked up the win in goal (23 shots/22 saves), although his shutout streak was snapped at 158:29 late in the third. Training camp Devils training camp got underway at Prudential Center with rookies reporting on Monday, September 9, and veterans reporting Wednesday, September 11. Overall, 58 players were in New Jersey s camp, including six goaltenders, 18 defensemen and 34 forwards. New faces Among the new faces remaining in Devils training camp are: goaltender Cory Schneider (from Van., June 30); and forwards Damien Brunner (tryout), Ryane Clowe (f.a., July 5), Jaromir Jagr (f.a., July 23), Rostislav Olesz (f.a., July 5) and Michael Ryder (f.a., July 5). Injuries Forwards Jaromir Jagr (sore lower body, suffered Sept. 12, 5 gms missed), Mattias Tedenby (lower body, Sept. 20, 3 gms) and Andrei Loktionov (lower body, 2 gms) are all out on a day-to-day basis. Player moves Yesterday, the Devils reduced their training camp roster to 28 players, by assigning eight to Albany (AHL) and returning one player to his junior team. Assigned to Albany were: goaltender Scott Wedgewood; defensemen Brandon Burlon, Eric Gelinas and Jon Merrill; and forwards Stefan Matteau, Rod Pelley, Tim Sestito and Mike Sislo. Defenseman Damon Severson was returned to Kelowna (WHL). On Wednesday, the club signed right wing Damien Brunner to a new contract. On Sept. 16, he was invited to training camp as a pro tryout. On Saturday, the club assigned defenseman Harry Young to Albany after he cleared waivers. Also clearing waivers were forwards Rod Pelley and Tim Sestito.

3 On Friday, New Jersey reduced its training camp roster by assigning 15 players to Albany and returning six players to their junior teams. Assigned to Albany were: goaltender Maxime Clermont; defensemen Seth Helgeson, Raman Hrabarenka, Dan Kelly, Corbin McPherson, and Reece Scarlett; and forwards Reid Boucher, Riley Boychuk, Mike Hoeffel, Chris McKelvie, Harri Pesonen, Ben Thomson, Joe Whitney, David Wohlberg and Darcy Zajac. Returned to their junior teams were: goaltender Anthony Brodeur (Gatineau, QMJHL); and forwards Myles Bell (Kelowna, WHL), Graham Black (Swift Current, WHL), Remy Giftopoulos (Windsor, OHL), Ben Johnson (Windsor, OHL) and Ryan Kujawinski (Kingston, OHL). Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) named New Jersey Assistant Coach Matt Shaw as general manager and head coach. The Devils, Prudential Center and the city of Newark hosted 2013 NHL Entry Draft. New Jersey acquired goaltender Cory Schneider from Vancouver in exchange for its first choice, the ninth overall selection. The Devils acquired the 42nd and 73rd overall selections from Phoenix for the 39th overall selection. Defenseman Steven Santini (2nd rd., 42nd overall) from the United States Development Program was the first of five selections by Executive Vice President, Hockey Operations/Director of Scouting David Conte and his staff. New Jersey acquired the 208th overall selection from Los Angeles in exchange for its seventh-round choice in the 2014 NHL draft. In a special announcement, goaltender Martin Brodeur announced the selection of his son Anthony, a goaltender from Shattuck St. Mary s (MN). The Devils re-signed defenseman Peter Harrold to a new contract. New Jersey submitted qualifying offers to the following players: Adam Henrique, Mike Hoeffel, Jacob Josefson, Dan Kelly, Keith Kinkaid, Harri Pesonen and Mike Sislo.

Two former New Jersey players defenseman Scott Niedermayer and forward Brendan Shanahan are among the five individuals selected for induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Devils re-signed defenseman Marek Zidlicky and forward Harri Pesonen to new contracts. Forward Ilya Kovalchuk announced his retirement from the NHL. New Jersey signed defenseman Raman Hrabarenka to his first NHL contract. Thirty-eight players reported to the Devils five-day rookie camp at AmeriHealth Pavilion at Prudential Center. New Jersey named Mike Foligno as an assistant coach, joining Dave Barr and Scott Stevens and Goaltending Coach Chris Terreri on Head Coach Peter DeBoer s staff. The team resigned goaltender Keith Kinkaid, and forwards Mike Hoeffel, Jacob Josefson and Mike Sislo to new contracts. The Devils signed free-agent right wing Jaromir Jagr. Bill Guerin, a member of New Jersey s 1995 Stanley Cup Championship Team, is one of five individuals selected for induction into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. A partnership controlled by David Blitzer and Joshua Harris completed its purchase of the Devils from Jeff Vanderbeek, who will work with the new ownership group as a senior advisor. The team and WFAN Sports Radio 66 AM and FM announced the extension of their multi-year partnership, in which the CBS RADIO all-sports station will continue to broadcast the team s regular and post-season games.
