Hynes led the Penguins to a (.637) mark during his tenure, including five straight 4-plus victory campaigns and five consecutive playoff berths, which included back-to-back AHL Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 22-3 and Geoff Ward and Alain Nasreddine will serve as his assistant coaches & Chris Terreri returns as goaltending coach. At, 4 years, 7 months-old, Hynes is the youngest head coach in the NHL. He'll also become the third-youngest coach in Devils history behind Jim Schoenfeld, who was 35 years-old when he took over on Jan. 26, 988 & Billy MacMillan, the team s first-ever head coach, who was 39 on Oct. 5, 982. CORY S NUMBER ONE Cory Schneider ranks first with a 2.2 goals-against average (2nd, Jonathan Quick, 2.6) and a.927 save-percentage (2nd, Tuukka Rask,.925) among goaltenders that have played in at least games since the start of 2-. ROCK SOLID Cory Schneider is expected to start in goal for the Devils tonight. 9 WELCOME HOME Kyle Palmieri is expected to make his Devils debut tonight and join Jim Dowd as just the second player from New Jersey to ever skate for the Devils. On June 27, the Devils acquired the Montvale, NJ native from Anaheim in exchange for the 4st pick (previously acquired from Florida) in the 25 NHL Entry Draft and a third-round choice in the 26 Draft. Palmieri played two seasons of high school hockey at St. Peter s Prep (Jersey City) from 25-7 before joining the USNDP. He was Anaheim s first pick, 26th overall, in the 29 Entry Draft. A LOT OF NEW FACES There are seven players on New Jersey's roster looking to make their Devils' debut tonight: Sergey Kalinin, John Moore, Brian O'Neill, Kyle Palmieri, David Schlemko, Lee Stempniak and Jiri Tlusty. The Jets collected three out of a possible four points last year against the Devils, putting up a record of -- versus New Jersey. The two teams first played each other on Oct. 3/4 at the Prudential Center. The Devils won at home in a shootout, a win that snapped their NHL record 8-game shootout losing streak. The Jets beat the Boston Bruins by the score of 6-2 last night, and won in Boston for the first time since Mar. 3/7. Last season the Jets were in the desert and beat the Arizona Coyotes by the same score. Forward Blake Wheeler and defencemen Mark Stuart and Dustin Byfuglien all recorded points in both games.
