The Devils won the last meeting on Jan., in overtime NEW BENCH BOSS Dallas Eakins will coach in his first regular season NHL game and first as the Edmonton Oilers new Head Coach, after being named Head Coach on June 0 th, 03. NEW OILERS CAPTAIN Andrew Ference was named the Edmonton Oilers new Captain on Sunday, September 9 th. He becomes the 4 th Captain in team history, since the Oilers joined the NHL in 979. Ference, 34, is entering his 4 th NHL season and his first as an Oiler. Drafted in the 8 th round (08 th overall) in the 997 NHL Entry Draft, the 5, 89pound defenceman has recorded 93 points (37G, 56A) and 645 penalty minutes in 760 career games. The Edmonton, Alberta native has spent time with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, and Boston Bruins throughout his NHL career, including helping Boston to their sixth Stanley Cup in 0. Ference also served as an Assistant Captain with the Bruins for two seasons (0 03). Off the ice, Ference is very active in the community and started the November Project, a community workout program which began a couple years ago while he was playing in Boston. The initiative involves people partaking in various forms of physical activity in public locations throughout the city. Andrew is often at the 6:00 a.m. workouts running stairs or doing pushups, as well as sharing his passion for fitness with the Edmonton community.
