Tonight, Elliott will go for five straight wins to start a season for the first time in his career. Best Home Records Since - St. Louis, -8-7 (.7) Chicago, -8- (.695) Pittsburgh, (.68) EASTBOUND AND UP Despite a loss to Montreal in the first game of their 5-6 Eastern Conference schedule last Tuesday, the Blues have been dominant in inter-conference play in recent years. Last season, they led the Western Conference, posting a.7 win% (-8-) vs. the East. Further, over the past three seasons combined, their.75 win% (-6-5) in inter-conference play is the best in the League, while division-rival Chicago is second with a.669 (-9-9) mark. Individually, Vladimir Tarasenko (5g, 5a), Alexander Steen (g, 5a) and Jaden Schwartz (g, 6) ranked t-6th, th and t-5th, respectively, among Western Conference players in points vs. the East in -5. EYE-BROUW RAISER Troy Brouwer has made a splash in the Blue Note, posting 6 points (g, a) in the first seven games of the season, marking the best start of his career. While he s shown his offensive prowess, he s also displayed his versatility as he ranks rd among Blues forwards in shorthanded ice time per game (:9), and ranks second on the Blues and shares th overall with hits. The Vancouver native was acquired in the off-season from Washington in a trade that sent T.J. Oshie to the Capitals. HEY MAN, NICE SHOT The Blues have logged or more shots in seven straight periods dating back to their game on Oct. 6 in Vancouver. Overall, they share rd overall in shots per game (.) and th in shots allowed per game (6.6). They also rank nd in the NHL in shot attempts differential in 5 on 5 play. Through seven games, the Blues have mustered 8 attempts to the oppositions 9, a +79 surplus that trails only Los Angeles (+8). DRAWING THE LONG STRAW The Blues rank rd overall with a 5.5% success rate in the faceoff circle this season. For a further breakdown, they are 5th in the offensive zone (5.8%), 6th in the defensive zone (5%) and th in the neutral zone (55.7%). Kyle Brodziak leads the club and ranks th overall with a 6.7% success rate, a far cry from his 9.5% career average. Last season, the Blues were the second best faceoff team, posting a 5.% success rate that trailed only Boston s 5.6%. From a franchise perspective, it was the best faceoff season on record, and by a wide margin, trumping the next best mark (- and -, 5.9%) by almost %. 9 -Kyle Brodziak ranks th in faceoff win% (6.7%) (. Ryan White, 7.7%) -David Backes shares 5th in hits (6) (. Matt Martin, 5) IMPORTANCE OF A FAST START The Western Conference is demanding. In -5, the conference produced six -point teams for the second consecutive season. What s more, it kept a 95-point Los Angeles Kings club out of the playoff picture just the third time since (start of 8-game slate) that a team that garnered as many points was forced to start vacation early. That being said, a good start to the season is essential. Consider that of the eight playoff teams last season, only Winnipeg (-5-) got off to a sub.5 -game start. As for the others, they combined to go 5--5 in their first outings. On the flip side, the six teams that missed the postseason combined for a -- start a record that is slightly inflated by the aforementioned Kings 6-- mark out-of-the-gate. THAT S A WRAP The Blues etched another memorable regular season in -5, in fact, in terms of points, it was tied for the third best mark in franchise history (5--7, 9 pts). The culmination of the season brought the Blues the Central Division Championship, their second division title in the last four years and the ninth in club history overall. Since -, and under the direction of GM Doug Armstrong and Head Coach Ken Hitchcock, the Blues have posted three of the top four regular seasons in franchise history 999- pts - pts -5 9 pts - 9 pts HITCHCOCK IN EXCLUSIVE COMPANY (Reg.
