You have two choices of measuring. 1. Measurements from your old sail. It is very precise (Skip to # 7) pairs 2. Measurement of your boat parameter (as follow). Following tools are requested: Measurement Tape 20-30m (available in a home ste) Vernier calliper (to measure the rope, boom, mast slot types) BND OF TH MAST Some mast bend to alter mainsail shape we will need to determine the amount of bend in your mast. (Runners / Backstay untight) Attach the mainsail halyard at the aft surface of the mast were it meets the boom and pull it tight (Sketch) At the point of maximum bend measure from mainsail halyard to the aft surface of the mast. 3 MAST RAK (Optional) Take the mainsail halyard and get it perpendicular. Measure from the mainsail halyard to the back of the mast. Rake of the mast M cm MAINSAIL / MIZZN PARAMTR Imptant f P and AL: Attach the tape measure to the mainsail halyard and hoist it to the black band (limit mark) to desired location (Luff and leech lenght) Do not hoist the tape measure to all the way tp halyard block. (The sail will be too long in the luff and leech) A L P M If no limit mark is existing your old sail can used as a guide. Hoist your old sail as far as it will go and make a mark on the mainsail halyard in front of the mainsail halyard kleet. Now you have the exact lenghth f hoisting the tape measure.
