Comprehensive documentation especially for the ATEX and the pressure equipment directive is included in our scope of delivery. In line with the highest possible quality assurance, all of the steps from design through to the production of the slide gate valve take place in our facility in Bergisch Gladbach, near Cologne. In advance, we offer you the possibility of undertaking an exhaustive investigation into the best technical solution. Our specialisation in shut-off technology offers us access to a wide range of options that take the use of our slide gate valves beyond the standard level: the interaction of high-quality materials, combined with the right selection of the fitting interior, creates not only a slide gate valve but also a sophisticated shutoff solution. 5 3. Basic technical information Nomenclature / After-sales service Nomenclature The designations of our shut-off valves are comprised of two or three letters. The first letter or first two letters stand for the respective sealing system and the last letter for the housing form. As a rule, any standard series* (T, K II**, K III**, 0) can be combined with any sealing system (G, GP, F, FD, S) and can be replaced retroactively. * Exceptions: The PT design is only available in the manually actuated version. The seal is compressed hydraulically here, so it can be operated and sealed independently of the control air. The combination S0 and F0 does not occur in practice. ** Exceptions: K I was replaced by K II and K III over the course of further developments. 8 3. Basic technical information 3.3 Series Each series several possibilities. We offer four main series. If your application requires a different solution, we can design a suitable one. All housings are also gastight on the outside. T series This series comprises a very broad area of application: bulk goods, gases, vapours. It is thus used as the most frequently chosen series in various industrial sectors. Nominal dimensions < DN300 (cast steel) Advantages: Pressure- and vacuum-tightness Low construction length Possibility of various installation positions Nominal dimensions from DN 300 (cast steel) All nominal dimensions in aluminium alloys K II series This series is favoured for use in the bulk goods sector. Advantages: Optimised for use under falling product columns Minimisation of usage-based obstruction of the housing sleeves by trickling products Avoidance of blockages in the operating range of the dividing knife 8

9 K III series The special feature of this series is the housing, which does not have a collection container. Advantages: Specially constructed for use under falling product columns Minimisation of usage-based obstruction of the housing sleeves by trickling products Avoidance of blockages in the operating range of the dividing knife Suitability of the housing as a lock container (for low outputs) Nominal dimensions < DN300 (cast steel) O series The special feature of this series is that it can be constructed optionally as a dust-tight or pressure-tight housing. Advantages: Dust- or pressure-tight housing Construction height is identical to a wafer valve, in contrast to this it is pressure-tight on the outside Space-saving, flat construction 39

10 3. Basic technical information 3.4 Sealing systems Expertise from Bergisch Gladbach All sealing systems presented below were developed by Emil Kammerer GmbH. Depending on the sealing requirement and application conditions, these five versions have proven to be the most reliable in practice over the course of the company s 60-year history. There are sophisticated systems that are fully compatible with all of our housing shapes. Sealing system G (static system) This sealing system is optimised to shut off dust, granular, crystalline products and multi-phase media IN A PRODUCT-TIGHT WAY. closed in motion open Sealing system GP (static system) The sealing system GP is intended to shut off granular material, dust, crystalline products, multi-phase media and liquid media IN A GAS-TIGHT WAY. Sealing takes place via an O-ring. closed in motion open 10

11 Sealing system F (dynamic system) This sealing system is optimised to shut off granular material, dust, gases, crystalline products, multi-phase media and liquid media IN A GAS-TIGHT WAY. The seal itself is created either by a pressure ring, which is fitted with an additional O-ring depending on the material. The pressure ring is pneumatically compressed via a control valve in the closed position depending on the process, this is also possible in the open position. The necessary closing pressure should be at least 2 bar above the operating pressure. When the slide gate valve is operated, pressure is relieved on the pressure ring to minimise mechanical wear on the seal. closed in motion open Sealing system FD (dynamic system) The sealing system FD is intended to shut off granular material, dust, crystalline products, gases, multi-phase media and liquid media IN A GAS-TIGHT WAY. The seal itself is created using a double-acting pressure ring, which is fitted with an additional O-ring depending on the material. The pressure ring is pneumatically compressed via a control valve in the closed position depending on the process, this is also possible in the open position. The necessary closing pressure depends on the operating pressure with a standard closing pressure of 6 bar, depending on the application, a reliable seal can be created against an operating pressure of up to 22 bar. When the dividing knife is operated, the pressure ring is actively released, which reduces mechanical wear on the seal to a minimum. closed in motion open closed in motion open 11 3

Basic technical information Slide gate valves according to series 3.4 Sealing systems Sealing system S (dynamic system) The sealing system S is constructed to shut off minimally-abrasive granular material, dust, multi-phase media and liquid media under high demands (pressure/vacuum < 1mbar) IN A GAS-TIGHT WAY. Sealing takes place via a special seal (moulded seal) made from elastomer. The special seal is pneumatically compressed via a control valve in the open and/or closed position. The necessary closing pressure is at least 2 bar above the operating pressure. When the slide gate valve is operated, pressure is relieved on the special seal, which minimises mechanical wear on the seal. Please note: This sealing system can be operated hydraulically (sealing system type P). closed in motion open Slide gate valves according to series Within the series, we make a distinction according to product-tight slide gate valves on the one side and pressure- and vacuumtight slide gate valves on the other. Please note that our shut-off equipment is exclusively presented below, which can be found in the standard range. Special slide gate valve Special slide gate valve Within the scope of what is technically possible and practically feasible, we take on any challenge and identify the ideal solution together with our customer. 14 6. Quick-closing valves (decoupling) Quick-closing valves (decoupling) The Kammerer quick-closing valve is one of the components of a protection system. Further components (detection and control unit) are required for operation. Emil Kammerer GmbH collaborates with renowned control system manufacturers. General application area: Deployment for safe explosion-related decoupling of various system components, which are connected by pipes and in which explosive dusts are processed, transported and stored. Examples of application areas: Chemistry, pharmaceuticals, energy, food industry, automotive industry, wood industry, R&D and many more. Incident: In case of ignition, downstream system components must be decoupled from the explosion in order to prevent secondary explosions and flame propagation. The quick-closing valve shuts in milliseconds. Installation position: Installation is possible in various positions (see operating manual). The casing is externally gas-and vacuum tight. Advantages: The drill hole in the sliding knife, in accordance with the nominal width, closes the guide slot in an opened position. In case of compressed air malfunction, the valve remains operational due to a pressure reservoir. In case of accidental activation, the quick-closing valve is fully operational again in a few seconds without any repair expenditure. Additionally attached solenoid valves allow a slow opening and closing of the valve for maintenance purposes.
