3 At SECUMAR the principle of safety through innovative buoyancy chamber designs is constantly being developed further. Today s immersion suit designs place special demands on life jackets. The patented buoyancy chamber systems with 3D and Multichamber-Double-Membrane-Technologies are quick-turning in the water and unique in the world. Removal of error SECUMAR quality management SECUMAR quality management underlies the strict regulations of international norm DIN ISO 9001 and is checked annually by two outside certification agencies, both for quality systems and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Additionally and independently, all SECUMAR products are subject to a computer based quality control regime that includes the 100% testing of all the safety related components such as inflatable bladder, firing mechanism, firing pill, cylinder and installation. The basic preconditions for this high level of quality are complex, and the design, construction and manufacture of components and its guarantee of functionality come from years of experience from a family company that is now in its fourth generation of continuous management and ownership. For more information see SOLAS 2010: MORE FreEBOARD In order to increase the safety of mariners and sea-going professionals, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) recently sharpened its regulations. The new SECUMAR GOLF and DELTA series for professional mariners have been developed with these regulations in mind. The heart of the concept is the new SECUMAR patented swim-bladder design that is cut and welded so that when inflated, form wing-shaped stabilisers round the neck and chest that are connected to the main chamber, thereby holding and supporting the casualty in a more upright and higher position above the water (the nose and mouth must now on average be held 16 cm above the water rather than 12 cm as before). These new SECUMAR SOLAS lifejackets now meet the new IMO regulations of Germanische Lloyd and also carry the Steering Wheel logo.
