2 Quick Manual: 12 Easy steps to deploy Life Raft & Immersion Suit in One 1. Remove external Cover. 2. Open main lid. 8. Put hands into gloves. 3. Anchor door holder in position so that the door doesn t close until the wearer is ready. 9. Jump into the water. 4. Climb into the Life Barrel feet first and put on wader. 5. Stand up and place straps on shoulders. 6. Close the main lid. Once in the water you can: 10. Remove your hands from the gloves. 7. Lock the main lid by securing the elastic cords on each side of the lid onto the round supports located in front of each armhole. 11. Open the small hatch within the lid if there are no big waves. 12. Relax until rescued. Page 2/2

4 Rain Catcher Now relax and Learn some of Life Barrel s amazing features. Rain catcher You will see sea water enter the drain from inside the Life Barrel when there are large waves or the raft is submerged under water. Main entrance When you wear Life Barrel, you may wonder what the big ring with some holes can do for you. This part is called the Rain Catcher and its primary role is to catch rain as a drinkable water source. The height of the rain catcher is higher than all the parts located within it. The reason for this height is to protect all the other parts inside the rain catcher from incoming objects both in storage and when being used. The rain catcher can catch salt water too when there are large waves or the raft is submerged under water. Most of the sea water will go out through the holes around the rain catcher. The remaining salt water will exit down toward through the drain inside the rain catcher. In this way, the rain catcher is always ready to catch rain. Drain for sea water and rain View of drain from inside the Life Barrel Once sea water enters the tubing, it should exit through the sea water outlet. Any unwanted water (i.e. mixture seawater/rain) can exit through the sea water outlet. There is a three way bypass valve you can use to keep water or let it go out. Turn the valve counter clockwise if you want the water to exit and turn it clockwise if you want to keep the water for drinking. It s very easy! 5 Oxygen Breathing Dome One of the special features of Life Barrel is the Oxygen Breathing Dome shown in figure below. As seen in figure below, there is a clear plastic collector which can capture any water that passes through the Oxygen Breathing Dome. Breathing air and not being wet are critical steps to surviving in the rough sea. First of all, you can minimize hypothermia by not getting wet. Second, you will be very comfortable if you can breathe and without the need other devices such as breathing tubes in order to do so. Air can go in and out freely through the Oxygen Breathing Dome and supply necessary air to you all the time as long as there are some fluctuations due to the waves vertical movements. Neither rain or sea water can not pass through the Oxygen Breathing Dome because it repels water. The Oxygen Breathing Dome was created using super-hydrophobic nanotechnology-based textile materials. Just keep the Dome clean and no maintenance is needed. Extremely strong pressurized water may hit the Oxygen Breathing Dome during stormy weather and some sea water may pass through the Dome. But don t worry. Any water drops that pass through the Dome will exit through the sea water/rain drain system. Hatch for Shooting flares & extra air Oxygen can enter and exit the breathing dome freely even though the water collector is connected to the sea water/rain separation system. This helps you breathe better and will lower the humidity in the raft. The small hatch can be used for shooting flares and fishing also. Page 2/7

6 Retractable, Extendable Light House The ability to signal for help is very important when you are stuck at sea. Life Barrel is equipped with a clear plastic retractable and extendable light house located inside the rain catcher. Retractable & extendable light house The light house is equipped with an ACR Firefly Pro SOLAS approved light. The Firefly PRO uses wide light emission LED's, and its strobe cuts through the foulest weather conditions creating a super-bright flash visible for over 3 miles. With 3 activation functions, select between the ultra-bright strobe light or the SOS strobe to visually alert Search and Rescue of your location and toggle to the Steady-On feature for close up recovery operations. Firefly PRO operates continuously for over 56 hours, that's 48 hours longer than SOLAS/USCG regulations require. The light house also has a holder for extra batteries. The picture below shows the light house from inside the raft. The light house is able to extend and retract through a port from inside the raft. Retractable & extendable light house Front Window Front window Life Barrel has a large front window (12 x8 ). This window helps you see outside very well. The window is made of impact resistant plexiglass and it is completely embedded in the wall. Page 3/7

7 Bottom Cover Bottom cover If you look at the bottom of Life Barrel, there is a red bottom cover, which covers and protects the wader. It also prohibits the wader from dragging when you move or relocate Life Barrel on you boat deck. The bottom cover is attached to the Life Barrel using Velcro and it will detach automatically when you put on Life Barrel. Replacement covers can be purchased by our customers for a minimum cost. Raft Carrying Holder Raft carrying holder The two yellow rings are the raft carrying holders. You can use these rings to carry or move Life Barrel around the ship deck. Retro-reflective Tape Retroreflective tape for night time visibility There are total six SOLAS UK approved retroreflective tapes on Life Barrel. These tapes improve your visibility to the rescue team at night. Page 4/7

8 Buddy Line There is a buddy line on the right side of Life Barrel that can be used to connect to other Life Barrels. It has a corrosion resistant stainless steel carabiner snap hook. This enables at stranded group to stay together! Buddy line Sturdy Storage Cover When you receive your Life Barrel, the first thing you will notice is a big red heavy duty storage cover. This cover is rain proof and also resistant to UV. Keep your Life Barrel under this cover at all times when not in use. Replacement weather covers can be purchased by our customers for a minimum cost. Places To Keep Life Barrel Life Barrel can be kept wherever you like. We recommend keeping it close to the cabin area on your ship deck. The buddy line carabinar snap hook can be used to attach your Life Barrel to any part of the ship to keep your Life Barrel secure. 9 Wait! Things to Do Before You Put Life Barrel on You Ship 1. Food 2. Extra water 3. Medicine 4. Name tag 5. Test emergency strobe There is plenty of room inside Life Barrel. Before you secure your Life Barrel on your ship, supply your Life Barrel for an emergency situation. We recommend non perishable food, extra water bottles, any medicines needed on a regular basis, extra batteries (see extra batteries in extra battery holder), and you should write your name on the name tag. You should also test the emergency strobe in the retractable light house. This is your Life Barrel to personalize according to your needs. Items That Need to be Checked Periodically Batteries Test emergency strobe Food Medicine You need to check both batteries and emergency strobe regularly! Sometimes batteries can go bad with no reason! Also check for expiration dates on food and medicine. Things to Do After Training Unlike conventional carbon dioxide basedinflatable life rafts, you can train yourself and others at anytime on the ground, in a swimming pool, or in any water. Life Barrel can be worn and reused as often as you like. Life Barrel must be dried after each use. Some water and sweat may be found inside the Life Barrel after training activities. A fan can be used to remove this moisture. Drying for overnight should be enough. Life Barrel interiors should be kept dry all the time. Page 6/7

10 Things to Do After Training Wader There is a neoprene wader inside Life Barrel with one red mark on each leg. Always fold you wader as shown in the figure with the red marks visible so you can find and wear your wader easily and quickly when needed. The red heavy duty cover should always be used after drying to keep your Life Barrel in good condition for the next use.
