2 Health Hazards Health Effects Swallowed Repeated over-exposure can cause liver and kidney damage. Skin The product is irritating to skin. Repeated, prolonged contact can result in defatting and drying of the skin which may lead to dermatitis. Eye The product is irritating to eyes. Inhaled Extensive inhalation of the vapour or mist can irritate the nose and throat and cause drowsiness, headache, nausea, dizziness, stupor and unconsciousness. First Aid Swallowed If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. (Ph: ) If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. Skin Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. Eye Hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and and see a doctor. Advice to Doctor In acute cases of naptha overexposure or ingestion, patients should be evaluated for signs of respiratory distress. 3 Precautions For Use Personal Protection Precautionary Measures: Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not inhale mist or vapour. If product on skin, immediately wash area with soap and water. After use, before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. Avoid contamination of fertilisers, spray materials, seed, feed, foodstuffs or water by storage or disposal. Eye Protection: Wear a face shield or chemical safety goggles to prevent eye contact where contact with undiluted material may occur. Skin Protection: Wear butyl rubber gloves and face shield when handling undiluted material. Where repeated or prolonged skin contact may occur, wear full body clothing and impervious gloves to prevent skin contact. Wash hands and contaminated skin thoroughly after handling. Launder contaminated clothing and clean protective equipment before re-use. Respiratory Protection: Use appropriate equipment when airborne exposure limits are exceeded. Respiratory protection should not be required for normal use and handling, but is recommended if airborne exposure to spray mists or vapour is excessive. Use respiratory equipment suitable for spray mists and vapour. The respirator use limitations specified by the manufacturer must be observed. Respiratory protection programs must be in compliance with AS 1715 and AS Flammability Non-flammable. See Safe Handling Information - Fire/Explosion Hazard. Safe Handling Information Storage and Transport Stable under normal conditions of warehouse storage. Avoid contamination of fertilizers, spray materials, seed, feed, foodstuffs and water by storage or disposal. 4 Safe Handling Information Spills and Disposal Spill or Leakage Procedures: Observe all PRECAUTIONS FOR USE when cleaning up spills. Avoid breathing vapours. Use self-contained breathing apparatus or airline respirator for large spills in confined areas. Eliminate ignition sources. Ventilate area. Dike the spill with inert material (sand, earth, etc.). Transfer the liquid and solid diking material to separate containers for recovery and disposal. Keep material out of sewers, watersheds and water systems. Waste Disposal: Avoid contamination of fertilizers, spray materials, seed, feed, foodstuffs or water by storage or disposal. Keep material out of sewers, watersheds and water systems. Waste materials resulting from the use of this material should be used according to label directions if possible. Waste that cannot be used or chemically re-processed should be disposed of by incineration or in a landfill approved for pesticide disposal or buried on site in a safe place so that it will not contaminate water supplies. Dispose of in accordance with all applicable local and state laws. Containers: Emptied containers retain product residue. Observe all labelled safeguards until container is cleaned, re-conditioned or destroyed. Triple rinse emptied containers, then puncture and dispose of in a landfill approved for pesticide containers, or by other procedures approved by state and local authorities. Special Fire-fighting Procedures: Fire fighters or others exposed to products of combustion should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.
