HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Hazardous classification Classified as dangerous goods according to the ADG Code. Classified as hazardous according to criteria of NOHSC. Risks Flammable. Very toxic by inhalation and if swallowed. Irritating to eyes. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Safety data After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe way. Wear suitable protective clothing and gloves. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible). Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions/ Safety data sheets. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES General advice : If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. In Australia /8

2 Inhalation : Remove person to fresh air. If signs/symptoms continue, get medical attention. Artificial respiration and/or oxygen may be necessary. Skin contact : Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for minutes. Call a poison information centre or doctor for treatment advice. Eye contact : Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison information centre or doctor for treatment advice. Ingestion : If swallowed, call a poison control centre or doctor immediately. If swallowed, drink 1 or 2 glasses of water and try once or twice to induce vomiting by touching the back of throat with finger. Induce vomiting if person is conscious. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Notes to physician Symptoms : Poisoning produces effects associated with anticholinesterase activity which may include: Weakness, Blurred vision, Breathing difficulties, Nausea, Headache, Abdominal pain, Discomfort in the chest, Constriction of pupils, Slow pulse, Sweating, Muscle twitching Risks : This product is an acetyl cholinesterase inhibiting carbamate insecticide. Morphine therapy is contra-indicated. Treatment : Administer atropine sulphate as an antidote until complete atropinisation ( mg i.v. every minutes). Artificial respiration and/or oxygen may be necessary. Allow no further exposure to any cholinesterase inhibitor until full recovery is assured. 5. Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. 3 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal precautions : Review sections 5 and 7 before proceeding with clean-up. Use personal protective equipment. Environmental precautions : Prevent material from entering sewers, waterways, or low areas Methods for cleaning up : Neutralize with solid sodium hydroxide at a rate of 3 lbs. per gallon spilled. Soak up with sawdust, sand, oil dry or other absorbent material. Shovel or sweep up. Never return to container for reuse. Scoop into bags or boxes with plastic or aluminium shovel. Additional advice : Never return spills in original containers for re-use. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling Advice on safe handling : Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS Product : Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with chemical or used container Contaminated packaging : Do not re-use empty containers Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. DO NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush, or puncture, and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots.
