Well-designed engineering controls can be highly effective in protecting workers and will typically be independent of worker interactions to provide this high level of protection. The basic types of engineering controls are: Process controls which involve changing the way a job activity or process is done to reduce the risk. Enclosure and/or isolation of emission source which keeps a selected hazard "physically" away from the worker and ventilation that strategically "adds" and "removes" air in the work environment. Personal protection Eye and face protection Skin protection Hands/feet protection Body protection Other protection No special equipment for minor exposure i.e. when handling small quantities. OTHERWISE: Safety glasses with side shields. ontact lenses may pose a special hazard; soft contact lenses may absorb and concentrate irritants. A written policy document, describing the wearing of lenses or restrictions on use, should be created for each workplace or task. See Hand protection below No special equipment needed when handling small quantities. OTHERWISE: Wear general protective gloves, e.g. light weight rubber gloves. See Other protection below No special equipment needed when handling small quantities. OTHERWISE: Overalls. Barrier cream. Eyewash unit.

4 Recommended material(s) GLOVE SELETION INDEX Glove selection is based on a modified presentation of the: "Forsberg lothing Performance Index". The effect(s) of the following substance(s) are taken into account in the computer-generated selection: Respiratory protection Type A-P Filter of sufficient capacity. (AS/NZS 1716 & 1715, EN 143:2000 & 149:2001, ANSI Z88 or national equivalent) Selection of the lass and Type of respirator will depend upon the level of breathing zone contaminant and the chemical nature of the contaminant. Protection Factors (defined as the ratio of contaminant outside and inside the mask) may also be important. 5 Hazardous decomposition products See section 5 SETION 11 TOXIOLOGIAL INFORMATION Information on toxicological effects Inhaled Ingestion Skin ontact Eye hronic The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or irritation of the respiratory tract (as classified by E Directives using animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable control measures be used in an occupational setting. Not normally a hazard due to non-volatile nature of product The material has NOT been classified by E Directives or other classification systems as "harmful by ingestion". This is because of the lack of corroborating animal or human evidence. The material is not thought to produce adverse health effects or skin irritation following contact (as classified by E Directives using animal models). Nevertheless, good hygiene practice requires that exposure be kept to a minimum and that suitable gloves be used in an occupational setting. Although the liquid is not thought to be an irritant (as classified by E Directives), direct contact with the eye may produce transient discomfort characterised by tearing or conjunctival redness (as with windburn). Long-term exposure to the product is not thought to produce chronic effects adverse to the health (as classified by E Directives using animal models); nevertheless exposure by all routes should be minimised as a matter of course. TOXIIT IRRITATION alcohols ethoxylated Legend: TOXIIT IRRITATION Oral (rat) LD50: >8000 mg/kg [2] Eye (rabbit): irritant * Skin (rabbit): irritant * 1. Value obtained from Europe EHA Registered Substances - Acute toxicity 2.* Value obtained from manufacturer's SDS. Unless otherwise specified data extracted from RTES - Register of Toxic Effect of chemical Substances ALOHOLS ETHOXLATED No significant acute toxicological data identified in literature search. Humans have regular contact with alcohol ethoxylates through a variety of industrial and consumer products such as soaps, detergents and other cleaning products. Exposure to these chemicals can occur through swallowing, inhalation, or contact with the skin or eyes. Studies of acute toxicity show that relatively high volumes would have to occur to produce any toxic response. No death due to poisoning with alcohol ethoxylates has ever been reported. Both laboratory and animal testing has shown that there is no evidence for alcohol ethoxylates (AEs) causing genetic damage, mutations or cancer. No adverse reproductive or developmental effects were observed. Tri-ethylene glycol ethers undergo enzymatic oxidation to toxic alkoxy acids. They may irritate the skin and the eyes. At high oral doses, they may cause depressed reflexes, flaccid muscle tone, breathing difficulty and coma. Death may result in experimental animal. The material may produce severe irritation to the eye causing pronounced inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis. The material may cause skin irritation after prolonged or repeated exposure and may produce on contact skin redness, swelling, the production of vesicles, scaling and thickening of the skin. * BASF anada ** [Henkel INFO ] Acute Toxicity Skin Irritation/orrosion Serious Eye Damage/Irritation Respiratory or Skin sensitisation Mutagenicity arcinogenicity Reproductivity STOT - Single Exposure STOT - Repeated Exposure Aspiration Hazard Legend: Data available but does not fill the criteria for classification Data available to make classification Data to make classification SETION 12 EOLOGIAL INFORMATION Toxicity ENDPOINT TEST DURATION (HR) SPEIES VALUE SOURE Not Available Not Available Not Available
