Phone Australia If swallowed, and if more than 15 minutes from a hospital, induce vomiting, preferably using Ipecac Syrup APF. Vitamin K 1 (Phytomenadione) is antidotal. Coumatetralyl is a first generation anticoagulant of the warfarin type. Symptoms of overexposure relate to failure of the blood clotting mechanism and include bleeding gums and failure of blood clotting after skin wounds. After one exposure the toxicity of coumatetralyl is relatively low, however if exposure continues over several days the product becomes more toxic. Symptoms will not be evident until 1-3 days after ingestion. Poisons Information Centres in each State capital city can provide additional assistance for scheduled poisons. Phone Not applicable. This product generates no dust. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area immediately with soap and water. Seek medical attention if required. Eye contact with this product is not a risk. If swallowed, and if more than 15 minutes from a hospital, induce vomiting, preferably using Ipecac Syrup APF. Seek medical attention if required. See also Chapter 11. If poisoning occurs apply basic aid and decontamination procedures. Consideration should be given to inducing emesis and/or administering activated charcoal to prevent further absorption. Clotting ability can be measured with diagnostic tests including prothrombin time and partial thromboplastin time. Vitamin K 1 (Phytomenadione) is antidotal. Administer Vitamin K 1 regularly IV or orally until clotting times return to normal and remain normal. In severe poisonings blood transfusions may be required. SECTION 5 FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing Media Fire and Explosion Hazards Hazardous Combustion Products Fire Fighting Sprayed water jet, foam, extinguishing powder, CO 2, sand. Hazardous polymerisation will not occur. No hazardous reactions will occur. Thermal decomposition products include carbon monoxide. Fight fire in the early stages if safe to do so. Wear respiratory protection. In well ventilated areas wear full face mask with a combination filter. (Offers no protection from carbon monoxide) In enclosed premises: respirator with independent air supply. Contain firefighting water.

Vacuum or sweep up spilled material and place into labelled, sealable containers. Prevent spillage from spreading or entering waterways and drains. Place material along with any contaminated soil etc., into sealable containers. Clean affected area with an aqueous detergent and a small amount of water. Absorb this with hydrated lime and place in a sealable drum. Spread hydrated lime over the affected area. Do not smoke, eat or drink during clean-up operation. SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE Safe Handling Storage Hold the product by the edge of the paper sachet to avoid contact with the material. Do not remove bait from paper sachet. Keep out of reach of children. Store in the tightly closed, original container in a dry, well, ventilated area, as cool as possible out of direct sunlight. Store away from food, drink or animal feeding stuffs. Do not allow pets access to the product. Store below 30 o C. This material is a Schedule 5 product and must be stored, handled and used in accordance with the relevant regulations.
