Dept liliana.freitas@osborn-unipol-pt 0.2 IMPORTANT NOTICE LIPPRITE are inert products made of abrasive nonwoven filaments including abrasives and synthetic bonding. The described abrasive tools are non-hazardous materials or preparations per EU directive 88/379 and do not create any risk during handling or storage. When used on grinding machines special safety precautions are necessary to protect the user. The dust arising is largely created by the stock removal and the abrasive composition applied. Sufficient extraction must be installed. 1 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION LIPPRITE 2 COMPOSITION / COMPONENTS 2.1 Nonwoven Abrasives: PA 6.6 resp. PA 6.12, 70% - 80% Silicon Carbide [SIC] 20% - 30% 2.2 Impregnation: Alternative Aluminum Oxide [AL2O3] 20% - 30% Hardened natural resin and oil Dried and inert synthetic resin / water emulsion Without impregnations

2 3 POSSIBLE HAZARDS Firefighting hazards as section 5 below. Not applicable since abrasive tools are not dangerous materials or preparations per EU directive 88/379 EWG. 4 FIRST AID PROCEDURES ONLY APPLICABLE TO LIPPRITE WHEN USED ON GRINDING MACHINE. Following recommendations are fundamental rules with respect to dust and other particles emitted during the grinding operation. They must be heeded as well as the information in the safety data sheets relating to the material to be ground and the cooling lubricant used. No known health hazards. 5 FIRE PROTECTION MEASURES Suitable extinguishing media: water, extinguishing powder, extinguishing foam, sand, CO 2, depending on the conditions, special attention must be given to re-ignition. Exposure hazards: In case of fire, toxic gases may be released in the course of decomposition and combustion. Decomposed products can include carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, trace formaldehyde and elements of decomposition. 6 PROCEDURES IF FUMES ARE RELEASED Protective equipment for fire-fighters: Full emergency equipment with self-contained breathing apparatus must be worn. 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE Not applicable: Storage: Clean /dry environment. 3 8 EXPOSURE LIMITATION / PERSONAL PROTECTION NOT APPLICABLE TO HANDLING AND STORING ABRASIVE TOOLS. When in use dust is to be expected, suitable precautions for extraction must be taken (max. value for fine dust 6 mg/m³). When using LIPPRITE, observe the instructions with the scrubbing machine and the relevant domestic guidelines. These materials are multi component bonded fiber abrasive fabrics, not chemicals. Therefore most clauses above are not relevant. 3/5

4 10 STABILITY AND REACTIVITY 10.1 Conditions to be avoided Extreme heat: Damp: Thermal decomposition begins at approx. 200ªC. Tools with nylon or PVC core; Danger of rotting Materials to be avoided: Strong acids and bases, strong oxidants and solvents that could change the mechanical features of the LIPPRITE create danger when used on a finishing machine. Dangerous decomposition products: None if used for specified purpose. 11 DETAILS ON TOXICOLOGY If used correctly and as directed finishing tools carry no known health risks. Suitable measures must be taken to limit grinding dust (refer to paragraph 8). 12 DETAILS ON ECOLOGY 12.1 Mobility: When LIPPRITE are used on stationary machines, grinding dust will be collected by suitable extractors, when used on manual machines, and suitable protective hoods are required Resistance and degradability: Abrasive tools are degradable Bio accumulation potential: Eco toxicity: 13 ADVICE ON DISPOSAL According to national and local instructions. Depending on the application the LIPPRITE may be contaminated with dangerous materials or chemicals i.e. particles from the material processed or the cooling lubricant, therefore special treatment may be necessary. 4/5

5 14 TRANSPORT LIPPRITE are non-hazardous goods. Protect LIPPRITE from rain and extreme temperatures. Ensure that LIPPRITE tools are not damaged in any way so that they may break when under load in an application. 15 REGULATIONS EU regulations: None also not necessary to record according to EU directives 88/379 ENG. If necessary pay attention to national or local regulations. 16 OTHER DETAILS The details given are based on our present level of knowledge and experience. The safety data sheet describes the products with respect to safety requirements. These details are not to be considered as a guarantee. The new safety data sheet was arranged due to the changed requirements of the REACH regulation.
