4 Guidelines for Proportions Styling Rules Figure check: If a person or a proportion is longer or larger, visually divide it. If a person or a proportion is shorter or smaller, do not divide it. Divide with Color and line. Remember: Color is prominent to, or more important than Line! If a person or a detail is heavier or larger, make the Silhouette more form fitting. If a person or a detail is thinner or smaller, make the Silhouette more narrow or push it up.
