2 JOBST JOVIPADS PROVIDE BEST-IN-CLASS THERAPY SOLUTIONS FOR LYMPHOEDEMA In the mid-1980s, Bernd Schneider, a lymphoedema therapist at the Ethel Földi clinic in Germany, found that the efficacy of CDP (Complete Decongestive Physiotherapy) was strongly improved by placing pieces of foam under short-stretch bandages, during treatment of lymphoedema. The different pressures created by the foam pieces softened the fibrotic tissue. Its ingenious discovery is the foundation of all current lymphoedema bandages. JOBST JoViPads have been developed by the well-known lymphoedema specialist and former cancer patient JoAnn Rovig, founder of JOVIPAK. 5 HEAD AND NECK Designed for the treatment of lymphoedema of the neck, jaw and anterior / lateral parts of the face. Velcro hook and loop fasteners on the bands at the back of the neck and the top of the head ensure a secure fit. The bands at the neck and at the top of the head can be adjusted as desired by the patient, making the chin strap suitable to wear at night. The chin can be positioned before or after the bands are fastened. The open hem at the bottom of the garment allows for additional compression with any neck pad. 6 GENITAL PADS For MEN and WOMEN, JOBST JoViPad genital pads are made of Polartec Powerdry fabric. The shredded foam-filled pad has a vertical channelling, flow-stitch pattern that carries lymph fluid away from the groin area to an alternative, functional lymphatic road. The pad can be used under a compression garment for protection, greater comfort and optimum results. The bands are made of soft, elastic material and run over the edge of the pelvis to help keep the pad in place (bands can be cut off if required). Female Genital Pads - Suitable for the treatment of labia oedema and / or fibrosis. The width of the pad at the front has been designed to encompass any hysterectomy scar at the bikini line by completely covering it. 7 MULTI-PURPOSE PITPAKS PitPaks have been specially developed for the treatment of persistent, long term fibrosis or lipodematosclerosis, and are available a variety of shapes making them anatomically suitable for various body parts. The unique channelling within the PitPaks help to channel lymphatic fluid towards the lymphatic nodes. PitPaks are harder than foam pads so it is advised that these pads are used under the guidance of a health care professional. The patient s tolerance should be taken into account when determining the amount of desired compression, and they are most effective under compression bandages, wrap compression systems or compression garments. PitPak cherry stone products are machine washable but must not be tumble-dried. Wash with cold water and press the moisture out by rolling in a towel, then leave to air dry.
