4 JACUZZI History Jacuzzi. The name was well on its way to becoming a household word back in the days before anyone thought of transforming a name into a brand. In the early 1900s, the Jacuzzi brothers applied their knowledge of hydraulics in the agricultural and aviation industries. Taking this breadth of fluidics knowledge, one of the brothers sons, Roy Jacuzzi, invented the whirlpool bath, and went on to create the first portable hot tub. The Jacuzzi line now includes shower systems and bath suites, as well as portable hot tubs. Then, as now, the company s focus is on providing quality bath and spa products that make positive changes in the way you feel. Inventive, hard-working, and family-oriented, the Jacuzzi brothers came to the United States in the early 1900s from Europe. Making their mark in aviation with the construction of the first enclosed-cabin monoplane, they later used their knowledge of hydraulic systems to revolutionise the agricultural industry by creating the first submersible pump. In 1956, the brothers responded to a family member s need for painrelieving hydrotherapeutic treatments by designing an aerating pump that could be used in a bathtub at home. In 1970, the new generation of the Jacuzzi family invented a commercial hydrotherapeutic product for home use. Roy Jacuzzi incorporated jets into the sides of a tub to invent the first selfcontained, fully integrated, portable hot tub. In the early 90s, Roy Jacuzzi was inducted into the National Kitchen & Bath Hall of Fame.
