Doc was a microbiologist and in his spare time worked tirelessly for the diving program, When he retired, he moved to Bloomington and devoted countless hours of service. The award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions for the IU diving program Clarence Doninger 2004 Dr. Doug MacAskill 2005 David Bere 2006 Terry Clapacs 2007 George and Patty Loukas Marge Counsilman Service Award This award is named after Marge Counsilman, the wife of legendary coach James Doc Councilman. A long-time supporter of the Indiana University swimming and diving program, Marge served as the surrogate mother for countless student-athletes that made their way through Bloomington.
