Refer to dimensional drawing on the back cover. 1.1 The deck plate must lay flat and level on the pool deck. 1.2 If the deck plate is to be installed on a brick, stone, or masonry paver surface, the deck plate must lie entirely on one paver and not overlap adjoining pavers. 1.3 If the deck plate is to be installed on a wood deck, the deck plate must lie entirely on one board and not overlap adjoining boards. 1.4 The pool deck must be at least 30" wide at the location where the deck plate will be installed. 1.5 The water level at the pool wall must be at least 35" deep where Fastlane will be installed. Section 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE FASTLANE (Refer to diagram on back cover) Verify that all items have arrived. 2.2 Carefully unpack the Swim Unit from its boxes (Parcels 1 and 2). Remove all hardware kits from inside. Close the boxes and flip them upside down on the ground to use as a workbench if needed. 2.3 Turn the housing upside down on the box or another smooth surface. Remove the block of wood by removing the six screws that attach the wood to the housing. (The wood is for packaging purposes only and may be discarded). 2.4 Remove the screws on the two sides and the front that secure the throat to the Swim Unit housing. Set the throat and six screws aside for use in Step Turn the housing right-side up and place on top of the base. Secure the housing to the base using eight 1" stainless steel screws. Note: Do not over-tighten. The Swim Unit is now ready to have the rails attached. 2.6 One end of each rail has a white plug secured by two screws and is the bottom that mounts against the swim unit. The other end of each rail is protected by a white cap which must be removed and discarded. The open end of the rail, for attachment to the deck plate, should be up and pointing over the back of the Swim Unit. When the rail is laid against the side of the Fastlane Swim Unit, the oblong hole on the lower end of the rail will be on the inside against the base to line up with the hole in the base. 2.7 Begin by taking the free end of the sub hose, with the 45-degree fitting, and, without the coupler attached, insert it into the hole on the bottom end of the rail. 2.8 Push the sub hose through the rail until the fitting pops out the slot on the upper end of the rail. Be sure to not disrupt the edge guards that protect the sub hose from the edges of the holes. 2.9 Lay the rail against the side of the Swim Unit. The sub hose should be just long enough to allow the 45-degree fitting to exit the rail at the deck mount end without the coupler Attach the rail to the side of the Swim Unit. Each rail requires 3 bolts. Loosely install the upper and lower bolts first with PVC washers positioned between the rail and the housing. Install the mid- 1

3 Swim Unit Installation Section 2 ASSEMBLY OF THE FASTLANE (Continued) dle bolt next with a PVC washer in same location, but also with the stainless washer on the inside of the housing. On the right rail, slide the bonding wire over the threads of the bolt before installing the washer and securing it with a nut. Note: A bonding wire is only located on the right side of the base and attaches to the middle bolt of the right rail. Once all bolts are installed, tighten securely Install the second rail as detailed in steps 2.6 through Be sure to not disrupt the edge guards that protect the sub hose from the edges of the holes When the rails are installed and tightened, re-install the throat using the six screws that were removed in Step Flatten the cardboard box and place under the rails to prevent them from being scratched. Gently lay the Swim Unit on its front Remove one wheel from the axle by removing the single screw which secures it to the axle. Slide the axle through the two holes that are marked in yellow on the intake grill. These holes have been routed to allow the axle to pass through freely. Be sure that all four large washers (two on each side) are located between the wheel and the grill intake. Secure the wheel back in place to the axle with a small washer between the screw and wheel Place the Swim Unit on the ground and roll to the pool for installation. Be careful not to tip over the Swim Unit as it is front-loaded. Section 3 INSTALLATION OF THE SWIM UNIT 3.2 (or 3.1) Slip the two stubs of the deck plate into the ends of the rails. 3.2 Install the two 1/4" x 2 1/2" bolts through the rails and stubs. Finger tighten the nut. 3.3 Lower the Swim Unit into the pool until the deck plate is down against the pool deck. This is easiest if executed by two people. 3.4 Make the Swim Unit level by placing a level on the top of the Swim Unit and moving the deck plate closer to or farther away from the pool wall. 3.5 With the Swim Unit in position and the deck plate squarely on the deck, mark the open bolt hole on your pool deck Move the deck plate aside and drill three 2-inch deep holes using the provided 5/8" masonry bit and a hammer drill. Wrap a piece of tape around the drill bit to check your depth if necessary. 3.9 Use a shop vacuum to remove the chips and dust from the holes Push the three threaded anchors into the holes. The threaded end of the anchor goes into the hole first. If needed, tap the anchors into the hole with a hammer until they are flush with the pool deck Place the deck plate over the anchors and install the bolts and washers. Tighten the bolts until they are snug. It is not recommended to over-tighten the bolts in the anchors or you could pull the anchor out of the hole. 3.6 Remove the Swim Unit from the pool and remove the deck plate from the end of the rails. Note: If you are installing the Optional Deck Drain, skip 3.12 and 3.13 below and proceed to Section 8.2, Installing the Deck Drain Position the deck plate with the rear bolt hole over the mark made. Ensure the front stubs are parallel with the pool wall. Mark the two remaining holes on your pool deck Lower the Swim Unit into the pool and the ends of the rails will slip over the stubs on the deck plate Secure the Swim Unit to the deck plate using the two bolts, washers and lock nuts. The Swim Unit must be bonded to your existing bonding grid using the bonding lug on the deck plate. 2

4 Option Installations Section 4 INSTALLATION OF RUN HOSES 4.1 Lay your run hoses from the Swim Unit to the Power Unit with any excessive length of hose coiled at the Power Unit. Remove the two plugs from the run hoses and the two caps from the sub hoses. Save for future maintenance activity. Ensure the black o-rings are in place on the couplers attached to the sub hoses Connect the two ends of the run hose to the two fittings of the sub hose where the rail meets the deck and tighten securely. Ensure both ends of the coupler that connect the sub and run hoses are tightened. The ends of one hose have been wrapped with red tape and the ends of the second hose are black. The connection points on the sub hoses at the Swim Unit and Power Unit have been marked, black as high pressure and red as low pressure. Connect the red end to the low-pressure fittings at both the Swim Unit and the Power Unit. Connect the black end to the high-pressure fittings at both the Swim Unit and the Power Unit. 4.3 Prior to installing the escutcheon over the deck plate, finish the installation and run the Fastlane. Check for any possible leaks at the hose connections. Once you have run the unit for several minutes, turn the Fastlane off, tightly wrap the fittings with the corrosion protection tape provided, and secure the deck plate cover with four #10 machine screws It is recommended that the run hoses be buried from the edge of the pool deck to the Power Unit. The run hoses can be buried directly or run through conduit of your choice. If necessary, lay the run hose on the ground, run through flower beds, etc. Always take into consideration the danger of run hose damage caused by lawn mowers, shovels, or other tools, as well as potential tripping hazards when planning your run hose installation. 4.5 For detailed options on managing your run hoses on the pool deck, please refer to Section 8: Hydraulic Run Hose Management Options Proportional Relief Valve Section 5 Fill Cap Low Pressure Antenna High Pressure INSTALLATION OF POWER UNIT 5.1 PLACEMENT CONSIDERATIONS: The Power Unit should be elevated from the ground and placed on a flat surface. If placing outside, it is recommended the Outdoor Power Unit with Weather Guard be purchased to protect it from the everyday elements. If placing indoors and at a level below the pool deck, such as a basement, a floor drain is mandatory to accommodate the unlikely event of a hole developing in one of the run hoses creating a siphon. Whether placed indoors or out, this is an air-cooled unit and must have ample ventilation. Therefore, a minimum of 12" air space must be provided on all sides of the Power Unit motor. In addition, the Power Unit needs to be checked periodically for maintenance and should be easily accessible. 5.2 Carefully remove the Power Unit from the packaging. Note: The Power Unit is heavy. 5.3 Place the Power Unit in the selected position and verify that the hose connections are pointed in the direction you desire. 5.4 Connect the run hoses to the Power Unit. Remember the low-pressure hose has red tape on the end. Connect the lowpressure line to the port at the fill cap and the high-pressure line to the port with the proportional relief valve. 5.5 Have an electrician make the electrical connections using the whip provided. Make this connection by hard wiring to a disconnect or using an appropriate lock tight plug and socket. The Power Unit requires single-phase 220 volt, 30 amp GFCI protected power. Please refer to the wiring diagram on page 4, Figure 5.1 Power Unit Electrical Wiring. For UK and international electrical requirements, please refer to Section Turn the circuit breaker for the Power Unit off. Fill the Power Unit with the five gallons of hydraulic fluid provided. (The fill cap is at the low pressure fitting.) Remove the oil filter by lifting it out of the fill opening. Once filled with oil, replace the oil filter and cap and press firmly to ensure proper seating of the filter. If your run hose is a sufficient length to require additional fluid, it will be included with the run hose. In this case, fill with the full five gallons first and run the Power Unit for one minute to fill the run hoses. Turn Power Unit off and add the additional oil. Do not run Power Unit without fill cap. 5.7 You are now ready to start up your Fastlane! Remove the remote control from its wrapping and press and hold the ON/OFF button to turn on the Fastlane and produce a current. The Fastlane features 52 incremental steps in speed. Press and release the FASTER button to increase the speed of the current one step at a time. Alternatively, press and continue to hold the FASTER button to ramp up the speed until the button is released or the maximum speed is achieved. Reduce the speed in the same manner using the SLOWER button. Turn off the Fastlane by again pressing the ON/OFF button. The Power Unit controller is equipped with an automatic timer shutting off the system 30 minutes after receiving its last command. Because the Fastlane remembers the speed at which it was turned off, it will return to that same pace when it is turned back on.

5 Option Installations Section 5 INSTALLATION OF POWER UNIT Figure 5.1 Section 6 ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR UK AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL COUNTRIES The Fastlane is designed with the needs of UK and international customers in mind. The Fastlane is shipped in kit form for easy assembly and installation following the detailed instructions provided. The Fastlane is ETL marked and CE listed. The Power Unit circuit must be RCD (GFI) protected. The MCB (breaker) that operates the hydraulic Power Unit should be Ç-type or motor-rated. United States wire color-coding is different than international color-coding. The following chart identifies the colorcoding used in the United States as it relates to the wire type. In addition, the wires of the controller have a short, colored sleeve wrapped around them to conform to the international color codes. Section 7 ANTENNA EXTENSION ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (OPTIONAL) Your Fastlane remote control operates by radio waves. Should the Power Unit be placed far away from your pool, your remote control may not operate efficiently. To operate your Fastlane more effectively, please install the antenna remotely with the enclosed kit. A longer length of coaxial cable can be used if you move the antenna closer to the pool. Parts List: 10' length of coaxial antenna cable Coaxial grounding block (antenna mount) 7.1 If the antenna is already installed, detach it from the upper left hand side of control box mounted on the foot of the motor. 7.2 Attach and finger-tighten the antenna cable. 7.3 Attach the coaxial grounding block (antenna mount) to the surface where the electrical disconnect box is mounted. The antenna should be just above the height of the box so that the metal box does not block the radio waves for your remote. Note: The antenna can be placed even closer to the pool by purchasing antenna cable from a local supplier. 7.4 Attach and finger-tighten the antenna to the upper end of the coaxial grounding block (antenna mount). 4

6 Maintenance Section 8 HYDRAULIC RUN HOSE MANAGEMENT OPTIONS The hydraulic run hoses can be buried in your yard from the Power Unit to the edge of your pool deck. Once you get to the pool deck, there are several options which are fully detailed below. If you choose, you can simply leave the run hoses exposed on the pool deck. Secure the run hoses to the concrete using the 4 hose clips and masonry screws provided. Lay your run hoses along the deck and locate the 4 clips so they are evenly spaced from your escutcheon plate to the end of your deck. Use the 5/32" masonry bit provided to drill the hole in the concrete. Secure the clips to the concrete using the masonry screws. After the clips are installed, snap both hoses into place. Option 8.1: Run Hose Cover. A 5" wide, custom-extruded rubber cover that lies flat on the deck and holds the run hoses securely. Option 8.2: Deck Drain. By cutting a 2" wide trench, 4" deep across the deck, our Deck Drain channel accommodates the run hoses and accepts a snap on cover available in three colors: white, black, and silver. Option 8.3: Conduit. If you wish to hide these run hoses completely, appropriate conduit material may be buried under the pool deck. Please call Customer Service at for details. Option 8.1 INSTALLING THE RUBBER RUN HOSE COVER Measure the distance from the end of the deck plate cover to the end of your pool deck. Using a hacksaw, cut the rubber run hose cover to length. Starting from the deck plate cover, snap the rubber run hose cover over the two run hoses and stop at the edge of the pool deck. Option 8.2 INSTALLING THE DECK DRAIN NOTE: Before installing the deck drain, please first complete the Endless Pools Fastlane Installation Instructions from section 2.1 through to section Upon completion of the instructions listed below, please return to Section 5, Installation of Power Unit. If you purchased the deck drain hose channel, follow the written directions and the DVD included with that shipment With the deck plate installed, temporarily place the Deck Drain in the location it will be installed from the deck plate to the end of your concrete deck. Mark both sides of the concrete along the entire length of the channel to provide an indication of where you will cut your 2" wide trough and place the Deck Drain aside. Assess the bonding options at this point. The Fastlane must be bonded to your existing bonding grid using the lug on the deck plate Place the escutcheon (deck plate cover) over the deck plate temporarily. Note: The concrete must be cut close enough to the deck plate so the run hoses that rest in the Deck Drain emerge from the channel underneath the escutcheon. Place the escutcheon aside Using a 14" blade masonry saw, cut a trough approximately 4" deep and 2" wide from the deck plate to the end of the concrete deck Once the trough for the deck drain is cut, level it with sand and install the deck drain. Ensure (with the proper amount of sand) the channel will be flush with the concrete deck once it is placed inside the trough. Once level, fill the sides between the channel and the concrete with sand to ensure that it is held firmly in place Lower the Swim Unit into the pool and slip the ends of the rail over the stubs on the deck plate Secure the Swim Unit to the deck plate using the bolts, washers, and lock nuts Lay your run hoses from the Swim Unit to the Power Unit, resting them in the channel. Connect the two ends of the run hose to the two fittings of the sub hose where the rail meets the deck and tighten securely. Ensure both ends of the coupler that connect the sub and run hoses are tightened. The ends of one hose have been wrapped with red tape and the ends of the second hose are black. The connection points on the sub hoses at the Swim Unit and Power Unit have been marked, black as high pressure and red as low pressure. Connect the red end to the low-pressure fittings at both the Swim Unit and the Power Unit. Connect the black end to the high-pressure fittings at both the Swim Unit and the Power Unit Prior to installing the escutcheon over the deck plate, finish the installation and run the Fastlane. Check for any possible leaks at the hose connections. Once you have run the Power Unit for several minutes, turn the Power Unit off, tightly wrap the fittings with the corrosion protection tape provided, and secure the deck plate cover with four #10 machine screws Place the cover of the Deck Drain on after removing its protective sheath. Install a bead of caulk along each side of the Deck Drain to ensure a proper fit It is recommended the run hoses be buried from the edge of the pool deck to the Power Unit. The run hoses can be buried directly or run through conduit of your choice. If necessary, lay the run hose on the ground, run through flower beds, etc. Always take into consideration the danger of run hose damage caused by lawn mowers, shovels, or other tools, as well as potential tripping hazards when planning your run hose installation. In addition, please address any issues regarding the edge of the Deck Drain cover as it can be sharp and, if exposed, may pose a hazard. 5

7 Maintenance Section 9 GENERAL OVERVIEW Once installed, Fastlane will provide years of exercise and fun with minimal maintenance. Clean the intake grills of leaves as needed and wipe down stainless steel rails and any other steel components with warm water, a Scotch Brite pad, and brisk rubbing. Clean the acrylic housing with any typical non-ammonia, non-abrasive kitchen cleanser. Periodically check all electrical and ground wire connections and test the G.F.I. circuit breaker for proper function. The Fastlane Swim Unit should be removed during the off-season or at least once a year for visual inspection. At the time of removal, ensure the black sub hoses are not touching the inlet grill on the underside of the unit. It is important for the long-term operation of your Fastlane your pool water is properly balanced and in accordance with normal, pool industry standards. In addition, it is imperative that the Fastlane be bonded to the pool bonding grid. Endless Pools, Inc. is an industry leader in customer service, should you ever have questions or concerns about your Fastlane, please contact us at Section 10 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE 10.1 Hydraulic Motor and Fluid Maintenance. We recommend the hydraulic motor, which is located in your Fastlane and submerged underwater, be replaced after three years of usage. We also recommend changing the non-food grade, biodegradable vegetable oil and filter in the Power Unit after every 500 hours of use Grill Cleaning. Should you perceive a reduction in speed of your Fastlane, it may be caused by a reduction in water flow due to a blockage of the intake grill located on the bottom of your Swim Unit. Because the underside of your Fastlane will be drawing in water, it may occasionally become necessary to clean the intake grill of any debris or leaves that may have been in your pool when Fastlane was in operation. With the Fastlane unit turned off, this is very easy to accomplish while in the pool Cold Weather Maintenance. At the end of the swimming season, it is recommended the Fastlane Swim Unit be removed from the swimming pool and winterized. Specific instructions can be downloaded at A winterizing kit for the Fastlane can be purchased from Customer Service. Note: Freezing will not affect the oil remaining in your run hoses. Fastlane by Endless Pools, Inc. Warranty Endless Pools, Inc. warrants to the original purchaser of Fastlane manufactured by us to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for two years from purchase. OUR OBLIGATION UNDER THIS WARRANTY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR EXCHANGE (AT OUR OPTION) OF ANY PART OR PARTS WHICH MAY THUS PROVE DEFECTIVE UNDER NORMAL USE WITHIN TWO YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE BY THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER, AND WHICH OUR EXAMINATION SHALL DISCLOSE TO OUR SATISFACTION TO BE THUS DEFECTIVE. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR USE AND OF ALL OTHER OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES FOR ALL DAMAGES DIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL TO PERSON, PROPERTY, OR BUSINESS WHETHER OR NOT OCCASIONED BY OUR NEGLIGENCE, AND WE NEITHER ASSUME FOR US ANY OTHER LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SALE OF THIS FASTLANE. THIS WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO THIS FASTLANE OR ANY PART THEREOF, WHICH HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO ACCIDENT, NEGLIGENCE, FREEZING, IMPROPER INSTALLATION, ALTERATION, ABUSE, OR MISUSE. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED, TO FLOW RESTRICTIONS OR OBSTRUCTIONS ON ALL WATER AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS AND NOT PROPERLY BONDING OR MAINTAINING PROPER WATER CHEMISTRY (ph level must be maintained between 7.4 and 7.8 and total alkalinity between 80 and 120 ppm. The total dissolved solids (TDS) must be no greater than 3,000 ppm). POOLS USING SALT CHLORINE GENERATORS MUST MAINTAIN A SALT CONTENT BELOW 4,000 ppm AND TDS WITH SALT BELOW 7,000 ppm. THE TERM ORIGINAL PURCHASER, AS USED IN THIS WARRANTY, SHALL BE DEEMED TO MEAN THAT PERSON FOR WHOM THE FASTLANE WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED. THIS WARRANTY SHALL APPLY ONLY WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES. WE DO NOT WARRANT THIS MACHINE TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF ANY SAFETY CODE OF ANY STATE, MUNICIPALITY, OR OTHER JURISDICTION. PURCHASER ASSUMES ALL RISK AND LIABILITY WHATSOEVER RESULTING FROM THE USE THEREOF, INCLUDING DAMAGE OR STAINING TO ANY POOL OR POOL DECK, WHETHER USED SINGLY OR IN COMBINATION WITH OTHER MACHINES OR APPARATUS. In order to claim under this warranty, original purchaser must promptly notify our Customer Service Department in writing of the existence of the claim and then follow our written instructions regarding the procedures for remedying the defect. Endless Pools, Inc. shall not be responsible for cartage, transportation, removal, and/or re-installation labor or any other such costs relating to performance of the warranty. In the event any portion of this warranty shall be deemed unenforceable by a court of law, the remainder of this warranty shall remain in full force and effect as if the voided portion were never included.
