The U.S. Fed Cup team will also include world No. 45 Alison Riske, No. 57 Lauren Davis, and No. 65 Christina McHale. Davis replaces world No. 16 Venus Williams, who was originally named to the U.S. roster, but could not come to Italy due to a personal matter. In Fed Cup singles play, Serena holds a perfect 11-0 record, while McHale holds a 4-4 singles record. Riske and Davis made their Fed Cup debuts in last year s World Group Quarterfinal against Italy in Cleveland; Riske is 0-1 in singles and Davis is 1-0 in doubles. Italian Fed Cup Captain Corrado Barazzutti named No. 15 Sara Errani, No. 26 Flavia Pennetta, No. 36 Camila Giorgi, and No. 55 Karin Knapp to face Team USA. This match will mark the fifth meeting between the U.S. and Italy in the last seven years. While Italy has won the last four matchups, the U.S. leads the overall series, 9-4.
