1 Dear Veteran colleagues Invitations to The team event for seniors Nations Cup and International Tournament Lidingö Wreck May 2009 It s a great privilege for Lidingö Badminton Club to be able to invite you all to Stockholm and Nations Cup Team and International Tournament The Lidingö Wreck May The Nation Cups Team tournament will be played on Thursday and Friday starting on Thursday at 2 pm. A team players dinner will be held on Friday evening at the player s hotel (more detailed information will be provided shortly). The individual tournament Lidingö Wreck starts on Saturday morning with finals on Sunday at 2 pm. Please observe that also singles will be played at the individual tournament. At Saturday evening there will be players banquette at the restaurant located at the Tennisstadion racket centre. The tournaments will take place at the Tennisstadion racket centre in a beautiful spring-like Stockholm. The Tennisstadion is situated within a comfortable walking distance from our preferred hotel as well as the city centre of Stockholm. (See map for overview). More information regarding tourist information can be found at Accommodation We have made room reservations for everyone at Hotel Scandic Park The hotel is situated at Karlavägen 43 within walking distance from Tennisstadion and Stockholm City. Hotel prices are 750 SEK/night for a single room and 850 SEK/Night for a double room. When you make your bookings, refer to Lidingö badminton. 2 Method of Competition 1. Teams from Denmark, England, Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden are competing. The result of each tie and of each competition is based on the combined results of four age groups (Over 40, Over 45, Over 50 and Over 55). Each team for the competition, to be nominated before play in the competition starts, will consist of a minimum of 8 men and 8 women and a maximum of 24 players, such that teams play in accordance with Regulation 4. An additional 4 reserves are permitted for each team for the event. All players must have reached the relevant age for both the team and individual events on 21 of May System of Play a. 5 teams: The teams will play all in one group; each team will play the other teams in their group. The group winner will be the winner of the tournament. b. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and runners-up. 3. Tie Each tie will consist of one men s doubles, one women s doubles and one mixed doubles in each of the age groups, i.e. a total of 12 matches. A team for each tie shall consist of a minimum of 2 men and 2 women in each age group and a maximum of 3 men and 3 women. A player shall be entitled to a maximum of 20 minutes rest between matches. Except in exceptional circumstances no player may play in more than one age group in a tie, but may play in different age groups in different ties. 4. The Laws as adopted by BWF in May 2006 apply. All matches will be the best of three games to 21 points with rally point scoring. Intervals will be allowed of a maximum of 1 minute at 11 points in each game, and a maximum of 2 minutes between games. Coaching will be permitted in accordance with the Laws. The Experimental Laws adopted on 9 June 2008 do not apply on this tournament. 5. Yonex shuttles will be used in the team and individual competitions. Format 6. Each tie will be played on 4 courts, with the exception of the play-off ties which may be played on more courts. The courts will be available for practice from to on Thursday 21 th of May.

Each country shall appoint a Team Captain and assistance Team Captain, not later than 28 th February The Team Captain must present his/her full team in accordance with Regulation 4 to the Referee 30 minutes before the scheduled start of play of each tie. The order of play will be agreed at that time by the Referee and the 2 Team Captains. 9. Ranking (1) The result of a Tie in Group matches shall be determined by the greater number of matches won. 2 points will be awarded for a win. If both teams have won 6 matches the tie shall be drawn and 1 point awarded to each team. (2) The ranking of a Group shall be decided by: A. The most points (i.e. ties won and drawn) B. If two teams are equal the winner of the tie between them will decide. C. If there is no winner, or more than two teams are equal, the team with the greatest number of matches won in its 2 ties shall be the winner. D. If two teams are still equal the winner of the tie between them will decide. E. If there is no winner the highest difference between games won minus games lost over the 2 ties will decide. F. If two teams are still equal the winner of the tie between them will decide. G. If there is still no winner the highest difference between points won minus points lost over the 2 ties will decide. H. If two teams are still equal the winner of the tie between them will decide. J. In the very unlikely event that the above has still not produced a full

4 ranking the Referee will toss a coin. (3) The result of a Tie in Play Offs shall be determined by the greater number of matches won. If both teams have won 6 matches the winner of the tie shall be determined by: K. The difference between games won minus games lost, or subsequently. L. The difference between points won minus points lost. M. In the very unlikely event that the above has still not produced a result the Referee and organisers panic and retire to the bar for a lengthy committee meeting to decide if there should be a playoff or the title should be shared. 10. No substitutions shall be permitted once playing a match has started. A substitute may play in any subsequent match in that tie subject to the general rules on participation. 11. If a match is not completed the existing score of the defaulting team shall stand and the opponents will be credited with the number of games and points required to win. 12. The Referee is in overall charge of the Competition. The Referee together with the Team Captains shall form a Committee to decide any policy matters related to the Competition which may arise.

5 INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT Lidingö Wreck 13. There will be played in six age groups (Over 35, Over 40, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55 and Over 60). All players must have reached the relevant age for the age group on 21 of May Events to be played in each age group: Men s Doubles, Women s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Men s Singles and Women s Singles. Each event will, if possible, be played in 2 stages: first stage in groups, second stage knock-out except for singles that will be knock-out. Ranking in groups will be determined according to BWF General Competition Regs.16. In case there are not enough entries in an event in an age group, the referee, in consultation with the team captains, can decide to combine the event with the corresponding event in the younger age group. 15. Per country, at most 28 pairs will be accepted in the Individual Tournament. 16. The draws will be available on Sunday, 15 of May Draws will also be sent to each team captain thru mail and published on IFK Lidingö website as Pdf-document. 17. Tournament schedule Saturday, 23 th May. 09:00h First round starts Play expected to finish by 19:00 h 20:00 Dinner at Jakthornet in Tennisstation Sunday, 24 th May. 09:00h All remaining rounds in each category Play expected to finish by 16:00 h
