THE PRACTITIONER S DIETARY SUPPLEMENT Place Your Text Here REFERENCE GUIDE PART IV 3 RD EDITION 2015
PERFORMANCE PDSRG Part IV: Performance Section Supplements: position, proper usage and unique features (60min includes Q&A after each product) Position Performance section Introduction Goal and rationale AminoBoost NO7Rage
POSITION ON PERFORMANCE SUPPLEMENTATION Sports at all levels have become fiercely competitive. Giving athletes the necessary edge to compete now requires sophisticated evolving nutrition and exercise protocols including the proper integration of individualized dietary supplements (DS). Maximizing potential during high-level competition involves athletes and qualified trainers leveraging all available resources Users:100% adult & 90% youth competitive athletes, 85% gym members Sports nutrition is the fastest growing dietary supplement (DS) category because more have the ability to work Increases recovery, muscle protein synthesis (MPS), time to exhaustion, size and performance outcomes Sports nutrition is the new healthy aging to stay lean & active
POSITION ON PERFORMANCE SUPPLEMENTATION Goal Competitive athletes & exercisers constantly seek physical improvement in order to remain competitive in their respective sport by attempting to make continuous progression in strength & performance gains, or as with avid exercisers, simply enhance exercise sessions over time or keep doing the activity they love Maximize MPS each day for as long as possible to avoid plateaus and/or extend a person s Playing Lifespan Requires an optimal workout and a full recovery that adds to the desired result Your workout is only as good as your preparation & recovery from the last Fact Proper exercise is ALWAYS a trigger for the proper result 50% of proper nutrition gets you a 50% training result-early plateaus EX: Meal composition, timing & amounts; DS composition, timing & amounts (100% of proper training followed by 50% proper nutrition=50% result) Exercise sets the stage and nutrition makes the movie. The question is, how good & how long can this movie play?
POSITION ON PERFORMANCE SUPPLEMENTATION Rationale Proper unaccustomed exercise continues to set the stage (initiates anabolism) for the desired muscle remodeling that would potentially improve performance/size. However, despite exercise s constant MPS initiation, positive training progress slows dramatically with age and experience and training plateaus become common occurrences leading researchers and athletes to believe that something is missing (nutritionally) in the pre or post exercise period that would otherwise continue progression from proper unaccustomed training (at least until there is an unavoidable age decline*). In other words, exercise is only a continual trigger event for the desired result leaving nutritional/bio-ingredient modulations to deliver the progressive outcome. These conditions set the stage for dietary supplementation when all else is equal and training and diet protocols are optimized for the desired progression. *Eventually as in all aspects of life, age will become a factor in abating progress but depending on age and level of training experience, this inevitable decline can be prolonged to a point where one has the greatest potential to not just extend their athletic success or "playing lifespan" but also remain self-sufficient throughout life Proper nutrition including DS matched to exercise will dramatically extend your competitive and/or playing years
NO7RAGE 1) Greater desire to exercise 2) Increased strength & power output & muscle endurance 3) Longer and enhanced alertness and focus 4) Improved muscle vasodilation and blood volume leading to greater muscle swelling, energy substrate delivery and waste product removal 5) Attenuate muscle damage 6) Enhanced anabolic environment: faster more efficient recovery for net MPS and continuous performance gains especially when post exercise nutrition is maximized Pre-Workout & Anabolic Environment Enhancer
NO7RAGE Goal To deliver a combination of ingredients that 1) demonstrate the ability to increase nitric oxide (NO) production to enhance blood and nutrient flow in and out of exercising muscles in order to amplify the training session and response. 2) Improve strength, force production, increase time to exhaustion and training endurance. 3) Improve cognitive performance such as training desire, reaction time and focus. NO7 stimulant properties, energy substrate contributions and muscle lactate buffering properties can dramatically improve the training session itself thus setting the stage for greater gains when everything else is equal such as recovery time and overall nutrition Enhance motivation, training session, anabolic environment & overall training outcomes
NO7RAGE Rationale Ergogenic 1) creatine for size and strength; 2)beta-alanine for force production and anaerobic intensity & endurance; 3) caffeine, glucuronolactone and taurine for cognitive & activity endurance performance combined with the effects of: Vasodilation, Cell Volume, Pump 1) glycerol for cell volume and exercise induced muscle pump; 2) pycnogenol, Nitrosigine, L-citrulline and Agmatine Sulfate for their NO production potential to increase vasodilatation thus enhance the inward and outward flow of all these ergogenic ingredients and training-induced waste products You have set the stage to maximize the training session contribution to MPS thus creating an environment for continuous positive change where further nutrition modulations can now finish the desired result and avoid common training plateaus
COGNITIVE PERF, FOCUS, MOTIVATION, DELAY FATIGUE CELL VOLUME, INTENSITY, MPS, PERF, DELAY FATIGUE VASODILATATION NUTRIENT FLOW IN & OUT NO7RAGE NO7Rage L-Citrulline (LC): is an amino acid that the body converts to L-Arginine to increase plasma/tissue L-Arginine to enhances NO production enhancing blood flow to increase the delivery of oxygen, energy & nutrients and removal of waste products. (LC is superior to oral arginine itself because the latter mostly metabolized before it can be effective Agamatine (agg-ma-teen) Sulfate: A downstream metabolite of arginine that inhibits the enzyme that breaks down NO while also serving as an added NO fuel source Nitrosigine (ni-tros-i-gen): An inositol stabilized arginine silicate compound shown to increase plasma arginine levels within 30 minutes and remain for 3 hours as well as enhance blood proteins related to vasodilation and heart health Pycnogenol) is a powerful antioxidant & can increase NO production from vascular endothelial cells by stimulating NO synthetase leading vasodilatation & improved circulation Creatine Monohydrate: increases the creatine pool thus anaerobic energy supply, increases cell hydration. Both conditions positively affect hormone and amino acid functions resulting in greater workouts, MPS, size & performance outcomes (2.5 grams per scoop!) Glycerol: a sugar alcohol compound. Like creatine it can expand water compartments leading to greater cell Volumization and nutrient uptake. Beta-Alanine: Beta Alanine is the rate limiting factor in carnosine synthesis which is an intramuscular buffer of H+. Thus increasing BA, raises carnosine levels to reduce exercise induced acidosis to potentially increase intensity & prolong time to exhaustion (1000mg/scoop) Glucuronolactone, Caffeine & Taurine: combined shown to have positive effects on mental performance, (e.g. focus, reaction time, alertness etc.) & physical endurance through actions of blocking effects of adenosine, increasing mobilization of free fatty acids, glycogen sparing, stimulation of the CNS & release of epinephrine & endorphins, alterations of calcium within muscle
L-Citrulline Nitrosigine
NO7RAGE Typical Use/Purpose A pre-workout supplement for anyone, not adversely effected by caffeine, needing pre and during training sustained motivation and seeking an enhanced overall training session or competition outcome Same as above plus a complimentary ergogenic supplement for intermediate and advanced anaerobic athletes to enhance and continue size and/or strength gains from exercise (5 g creatine and 2,000 mg of beta-alanine in two scoops) See NO7 inclusion in creatine Loading & Stacking programs As a pre (and during) workout formula, NO7Rage contains a synergistic group of compounds designed to work together to produce before and during exercise: greater desire to exercise increased strength and power output greater muscle endurance longer and enhanced alertness and focus improved muscle vasodilation and blood volume leading to greater muscle swelling, energy substrate delivery and waste product removal attenuation of muscle damage Deliver greater overall quality workouts (which makes its own unique contribution to reciprocal exercise gains) while setting up the post- exercise period with an enhanced anabolic environment prepared to accomplish faster, more efficient recovery, allowing greater net protein synthesis and continuous performance gains especially when post-exercise nutrition is maximized using AminoBoost and/or the proper post-workout formula and meal planning
NO7RAGE Unique Features Contains L-citrulline malate which has been shown to be a more effective substrate than arginine for inducing NO production Contains two novel forms of arginine, Nitrosigine and agmatine sulfate. Both significantly increase plasma arginine to desired levels shown to enhance NO production Contains a unique blend of taurine, glycerol and pine bark (pycnogenol) to enhance the pump during resistance training workouts The proprietary flavoring generally appeals to a greater portion of users than competitive products Can be used alone or with AminoBoostXXL, Creatine Monohydrate and/or CreatineXXL as part of the dotfit "Loading and Stacking Programs Dosage instructions will be far more efficacy accurate per individual compared to other products
NO7RAGE Dosage (as a stand alone Performance product)* 30-40min before workout (unless using with stack) Under 150 lbs - take 1.5 scoop lbs - take 2 scoops Over 200 lbs - take 2.5 scoops Not necessary on non-workout days if using other products containing creatine (see Creatine Loading & Stacking programs); otherwise use full dose to maintain enhanced creatine levels Do not exceed 3 scoops (primarily due to caffeine content) Do not use with other products containing high doses of caffeine or are caffeine sensitive. 18 NO7RAGE MOST EFFECTIVE DOSING OF PRIMARY INDIVIDUAL ERGOGENIC INGREDIENTS Creatine Loading phase of 20 g of CM/d or 0.14g CM/lb/d split into 4 daily intakes of 5g each, followed by a maintenance phase of 3-5g CM/d or g CM/lb/d ( dotfit prefers.03 g CM/lb/d based on experience) for the duration of the supp period. Other protocols have used a daily single dose of ~3 6 g/d but this method might take between 21 to 28 days to produce ergogenic effects Beta-alanine 4-6 g daily, divided into 800 mg servings for 4wk; 3.2g/d maintenance Raises skeletal muscle carnosine levels 40-60% Caffeine mg/lb caffeine anhydrous
NO7RAGE Summary As a pre-workout formula, NO7Rage contains a synergistic group of compounds designed to work together to produce the following before and during exercise: 1) greater desire to exercise, 2) increased strength and power output and muscle endurance, 3) longer and enhanced alertness and focus, 4) improved muscle vasodilation and blood volume leading to greater muscle swelling, energy substrate delivery and waste product removal, and 5) attenuation of muscle damage. These benefits compared to a non-supplemented state or commercially available competitive products, would deliver greater overall quality workouts while setting up the post-exercise period with an enhanced anabolic environment prepared to accomplish more efficient recovery allowing greater net protein synthesis and continuous performance gains, especially when post-exercise nutrition is maximized using AminoBoost and/or the proper post-workout formula and meal planning. Deliver greater overall quality workouts while setting up the post- exercise period with an enhanced anabolic environment
AMINO BOOST AA PROFILE MIMICS AA RELEASE FROM MUSCLE DURING EXERCISE & IS IN DIRECT PROPORTION TO RECOVERY REQUIREMENTS WITH A MAXIMUM LEUCINE TRIGGER Speed Recovery Net Positive Synthesis Constant muscle synthesis signal Everyone Over 50 Lower Nitrogen Load Low/no Calories Recovery/Synthesis for Extreme Calorie Restrictions Weight Classes & Low Body Fat Athletes
AMINO BOOST Goal To supply the proper combination of specific amino acids for the athletic/exercising population that has been shown in clinical trials to speed recovery from continuous training bouts and enhance exercise induced muscle protein synthesis (MPS) through specific pathways within a palatable, fast acting, and low calorie delivery system. Through reduced recovery times and enhanced MPS, AminoBoostXXL (AB) would help athletes avoid or overcome "overtraining/reaching" syndromes or training plateaus. For the non-exercising adult population, AB would serve as a supplement to improve the otherwise declining normal net muscle protein balance that leads to the inevitable loss of muscle while aging Keep the MPS signal going all day everyday to minimize breakdown & maximize synthesis thus results Rationale Exercise and amino acids (AA) stimulate skeletal muscle (SM) protein turnover independently, thus combined properly they have profound additive effects on training induced recovery, performance and muscle size Although non-essential amino acids are necessary components of complete muscle tissue, they are not required to stimulate MPS. Only essential amino acids (EEA) stimulate MPS. EAA feeding stimulates protein synthesis independently of all other mechanisms Especially high in leucine, EEAs independently signal mtor1 & mitogen activated protein kinase cascades, up-regulate SM amino acid transporter expression leading to an additive effect on MPS
AMINO BOOST Rationale Summary In simple terms, exercise leads to muscle protein breakdown, which induces a heightened nutrient demand and their respective receptors sensitivity allowing AAs to be delivered timely in the right amounts (specifically EAA including a relatively high leucine content) to maximize an individual's MPS potential, leading to enhanced size and/or performance training induced results when all else is equal (e.g. training and overall diet). Additionally there are other times in the day when MPS can be maximized AB and it s proper usage is designed to maximize protein synthesis during each temporal opportunity, exercise induced or not, by utilizing every available mechanism of action up to its respective rate limiting effect AB can independently stimulate MPS with or without exercise throughout the day
AMINO BOOST Typical Use/Purpose Deliver a specialized leucine enriched EAA formula that can enhance MPS throughout the day especially when combined with exercise All exercisers and athletes seeking continuous physical progress - ideal for breaking through or avoiding fitness, size or performance plateaus Extremely low calorie and high anabolic pre & post workout supplement for athletes to maximize MPS during restricted calorie dieting to help maintain MPS during fat/weight loss (e.g. physique competitors, fighters/wrestlers, weight lifters, etc.) Especially important for older athletes seeking physical improvements as the body becomes more resistant to anabolic effects of food and exercise Ideal for multiple daily training sessions or tournament play before and after each event All non-exercisers over 30 years of age to help stave off age-related loss of muscle For every adult at some point in their life
AMINO BOOST Unique Features The formula uses a leucine enriched EAA blend that has been shown to significantly increase MPS in clinical trials with both adult athletes and non-athletes The proprietary EAA composition is designed to increase the availability of the EAA in proportion to their requirement for muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and muscle deposition Extremely high anabolic formula delivered in a low calorie, relatively low nitrogen and very palatable drink/solution Used with any program, this unique formula provides an incremental effect to muscle/performance gains, thus additive to all other protocols including pre/post protein and carbohydrate feedings Can be used with NO7Rage and CreatineXXL as part of the dotfit "Super Stack" providing enhanced progressive exerciseinduced results There is no competitor
AMINO BOOST Dose (exercisers) <150 lb use 12g (1 scoop) before training & repeat immediately post activity >150 lbs add ~5% (0.6g) for each 10lb body Wt. Example 200 lb: add 3g (15g per dose); 250lb 18g Aging (>50 years old) may also increase dosage needs based on the body's resistance to the anabolic effects of exercise, AAs, insulin & related MPS mechanisms in advancing years
AMINO BOOST Timing (exercisers) ~10min before workout, begin ingestion & may continue to consume throughout Same dose immediately post workout Maximizing MPS If calories permit, use a dotfit pre-workout formula (e.g. WheySmooth, FirstString, favorite bar, etc.,) ~40min before WO and minutes after post workout AB dose Consume normal post-workout whole food meal at ~ 1-2 hours post-training Repeat dose before bedtime to potentially maximize results (optional)
AMINO BOOST Dose & timing (Non-exercisers 30 years and Older) 15 g per dose (~1.25 scoop) and take 3times daily between meals with one dose before bedtime Aging (> 50 years old) may increase dosage needs 20% for each decade (ex: at age 60 years dosage may be 18 g) based on the body's resistance to the anabolic effects of AAs & related protein synthesis mechanisms in advancing years
AMINO BOOST Fitness = Healthcare vs. Disease Care The goal for humans that desire progressive physical improvement or simply to remain functionally mobile throughout life would be to keep the daily muscle protein synthesis signals as strong as possible, thus favoring a positive muscle protein balance as long as possible, making leucine-enriched essential amino acid supplementation a valuable adult sport and primary prevention health practice. This practice would offer additive benefits, as described, to all sport and lifestyle programs when everything else is equal (diet, supplements and exercise) AB would be considered a valuable adult sport and primary prevention health practice Sports Nutrition is the New Healthy Aging Stay Lean & Play Long
Results Summary Size & Performance PRACTITIONER PRODUCT RESULTS Documented Performance Increases (PDSRG) Specific supplement programs based on individuals (responders & partial responders) can contribute*: Extended competitive/playing lifespan, including reduced injury It s all about recovery if you want to play better and longer Bigger: Increase results by at least 10-20% Faster/higher: Should allow you to beat all your personal records Ex: combine training:.1-.3 better 40; 2-2.5in vertical Stronger: Increase strength results 10-30% Last longer: Increase time to exhaustion 10-15% Significantly decrease fatigue perception *All increases are when compared to not using supplements and all else equal
