4 UNITED STATES EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION Every Class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current United States Equestrian rule book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. To be eligible to participate as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, owner lessee, agent or trainer, riding coach or driving coach, at Federation Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above, Dressage Competitions, Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Vaulting Competitions, or International Competitions, Classes or Programs, persons must be Senior Active Members or Junior Active Members of the Federation as provided in the Bylaw 212, or if non-members must pay a registration fee as provided in the Rules. Lessees are considered owners in connection with this requirement. IN the event of an entry under multiple ownership, only one owner need be a Senior Active Member or pay a registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule: (1) leadline; (2)exhibitions; (3) games and races; (4) classes for 4H members; (5) Walk trot and Academy classes (Academy Classes are classes limited to horses regularly used in a lesson program); (6) USDF Introductory Level tests, Pas de Deux and Quadrille classes; (7) Assistant Handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Classes; (8) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standings in their own National Federation; and (9) Non-affiliated national breed or discipline association classes for which there are no breed or discipline division rules or discipline association classes for which there are no breed or discipline division rules. FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. A processing fee of $100 plus collection fees will be made for any nonnegotiable checks. All horses entered must be named on the entry blank including those shown only in equitation where the rider is being judged. Entry blanks will be accepted ONLY when signed by the owner, rider or handler AND trainer. They must be accompanied by a check for entry fees, stabling fees, administration fees, night watch fees and Official Warm-Up fees. Post entries will be accepted as noted above. 6 PERMANENT STABLING Stalls are wood construction approximately 9x9 and 10x10 with doors. CREDENTIALS USEF and USHJA Membership and Junior Hunter Measurement cards must be presented to the office prior to receiving number. Copies may be sent with entries to facilitate this procedure. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. REFUNDS No refunds on stalls will be made under any circumstances after the closing date. Entry fees will not be refunded unless a certificate of illness or injury prepared by an accredited veterinarian is presented to the show secretary before the start of the show in which entered. Once the show begins, horses that are entered and do not show will forfeit their entry fees except if a horse becomes injured or ill prior to the class entered. Proper procedures to scratch must be made in the show office prior to the start of the class entered. A certificate from the official show veterinarian must accompany the scratch sheet. Whatever the case may be, an office fee of $50 will be charged. NIGHT WATCH All horses occupying a stall are required to pay a one time fee of $10 per horse or pony. This service is NOT OPTIONAL. Horses will be checked five to six times throughout the night. Please provide emergency contact name, cell phone number and hotel information to the stable office. It is suggested that information be left near your stalls as well (tack room door, each stall, or barn boards). CAMPER HOOK-UPS We only have fifteen camper hook-ups available. The cost is $225 per week. MOTORIZED VEHICLES No Motorized Vehicles/Golf Carts will be allowed on the show grounds at anytime, only horse show staff and individuals with disabilities are permitted the use of motorized vehicles of any kind. Per USEF Rule GR Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry black as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule 4
7 are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses, or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges filed against the any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. RINGS AND FOOTING Dover Arena 150 x 325 (Poel s International All Weather Footing); Gold Ring 148 x 295 (Poel s International All Weather Footing) IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. The State of Pennsylvania requires that all horse be in possession of a negative Coggins Test (E.I.A.) dated within 12 months. 2. Per USEF Rule GR845.1 Equine Vaccination Rule: At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. This paper work must accompany the horse upon arrival. Please complete the EVENT PARTICIPATION DOCUMENT available in the prize list and on line at and present when picking up numbers in the show office. Do not send with entries. 3. Brandywine Horse Shows will give premier stabling to exhibitors showing both weeks and ordering weekly stalls. 4. Anyone wishing to arrive early or stay later must check with management. NO EXCEPTIONS. 5. Night Watch is NOT OPTIONAL. See Rules & Regulations for more info. The fee is $10 per week, per occupied stall (horse or pony). 6. The stable manager is Ashley Davis. 7. All owners and exhibitors shall be held responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents or any employees to stalls, building and other properties on the show grounds, and shall be billed accordingly. 8. Feed and bedding may be ordered through the Entry Form for pre-orders. Follow for I-495 North and remerge onto I-95 North (Crossing into Pennsylvania). Follow I-95 North to I-476 North. Take I-476 N via exit 7 toward Plymouth Meeting. From the East: Follow the Schuylkill Expressway / I-76 West to I-476 South. Merge onto I-476 South via exit 331A on the left toward Chester. 9 Take exit 326 toward Valley Forge. Stay in right lane after the tolls. Merge onto US- 202 South via exit 328A toward West Chester. Follow US-202 South for approximately 2 miles. Take the PA-252 North exit toward Devon. Make a left onto Valley Forge Road / PA-252. Continue to follow Valley Forge Road for approximately.5 miles and make a slight right turn onto Devon State Road. Follow Devon State road for approximately 1 mile until you reach a dead end. Make a left onto Old Lancaster Road and then an immediate right onto Waterloo Road. Turn left on to Lancaster Avenue / US-30 East and the Devon Horse Show will be on your right within.2 miles. By Train-Paoli Local: From 30th Street Station in Philadelphia or Suburban Station in downtown Philadelphia at 16th and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Paoli Local Trains run about every 35 minutes to Devon and return. Nationwide rail connections from 30th Street Station. PRIZE MONEY Prize money may be applied to your payment due. Any prize money over the payment due will be mailed within thirty days of the completion of the competition. Checks will be made payable to owners, unless otherwise stated, and will only be paid when the SS# or Federal Tax ID# has been provided to the Horse Show Office. All recipients of prize money totaling $600 or more will receive an IRS Form Prize money won by foreign exhibitors is subject to the US Internal Revenue Service regulation requiring sporting events to withhold 30% of prize money. Foreign exhibitors should apply for a Social Security Number and will be asked to complete form W-8BEN prior to receiving prize money. HUNTER CLASS SPECIFICATIONS PURPOSE The US Junior Hunter Championship is designed to encourage and promote the basic training and development of Junior Hunters. SECTIONS The competition is divided into Small and Large Junior Hunters and again by age, riders 15 & Under and riders The 3 3 section is divided by age, riders 15 & Under and riders It is open to any Junior Rider and horse combination not entered in any 3 6 division for a total of 6 divisions. ELIGIBILITY In order to compete in the US Junior Hunter Championship, the horse must be recorded with the Federation and registered with USHJA on or before the first day of the competition. The owner must be an Active member of the Federation and USHJA. A horse must win a Championship or Reserve Championship in an A or AA Rated Junior Hunter Division between June 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016, and/or 7
10 be in the top 10 in their zone in any of the four Junior Hunter sections on the final day of the qualifying period. The horse must be recorded with the Federation and registered with the USHJA at the time of the win for the Championship or Reserve Championship to count. Horses that are champion at the previous year s competition may return without qualifying. The owner of record of the horse must be an Active member in good standing of the Federation and USHJA, i.e.; horses must be shown in accordance with GR1102 and GR1108 in order to be eligible to qualify. PHASES The competition will be conducted in three separate phases: Under Saddle: To count 20%. To be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Horses are to hand gallop one direction, halt and back. Light contact with the horse s mouth is required. Judged on performance and soundness. Manners and suitability shall be emphasized. Classic Round: To count 40%. The course must maintain at least ten obstacles, have two changes of direction and have at least one combination. There shall be one single oxer on the course to be ridden at the gallop. Emphasis shall be placed on brilliance for this class. Handy Hunter: To count 40%. Obstacles should simulate those found in trappy hunt country. The course must have at least two changes of direction and at least one combination. Horses are required to trot over one fence on the course, and may be asked to lead over one obstacle or open a gate while mounted. Emphasis shall be placed on handiness for this round. Two refusals in the Classic or Handy Round will result in elimination. SCORING Under Saddle Phase: Horses shall be judged in groups of twelve or less. Each horse shall be judged and given a score based on its performance in the group. Handy Hunter and Classic Round: Each entry will be given a numerical score based on its performance. MISCELLANEOUS The same junior exhibitor is required to show an entry in all phases of the competition. The same junior exhibitor may show one small and one large entry. Cross entering is not permitted in the Junior Hunter 3 3 division. 8

15 JUDGING PROCEDURES All three judges will judge each phase simultaneously but independently of each other. Each judge will give every entry a score for each phase. Prior to the Handy Hunter and Classic Round, each entry s score in the previous phase shall be totaled and announced. During the Over Fence phase, the Open Numerical Scoring System is used. After each entry completes the course, each judge s score for the round is immediately shown or announced. The total overall score for each entry is then calculated as soon as it has completed the last phase. TIES Ties will be broken based on the score of the judge that is designated as judge number one for each phase of the competition. If a tie still exists for the overall standings, the score from the Classic Phase will break such tie. 9
16 COMPETITION SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Horses are required to be stabled on the competition grounds for a minimum of 12 hours before the start of the competition. 2. Commencing 12 hours prior to the start of the competition and continuing until finished competing, only the competition rider may ride his/her entry. These riders must wear their competition number at all times anywhere on the grounds whenever mounted. Horses must be accompanied by their number whenever they are being lunged, exercised or handwalked. 3. The Official Schooling and Lungeing areas will be designated and locations posted in the Show Office. Participants are restricted to schooling and lungeing only in the Official areas. 4. The use of illegal and/or dangerous jumps, equipment, bamboo offsets and poling is strictly prohibited. 5. Failure to comply with these rules will result in elimination if deemed appropriate by the Appeals Jury, which will be composed of the Competition s Federation Steward, a member of the USEF Staff and the Competition Manager. 17 EQUITATION CLASS SPECIFICATIONS USHJA/ESSEX CLASSICS HUNTERDON EQUITATION CUP CLASSIC Open to any rider that is an Active USHJA member and has won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jump ing Talent Search, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic between June 1 and May 31 of the qualifying year. The show in which they qualify must have started on or before the final day of the qualifying period. Once a rider has won the USHJA Hunterdon Cup he will not be allowed to compete again. Class Specifications for the Classic consists of: a. 10 Hunter Type Fences including at least 2 jumps with no ground lines. b. Fences are to be set at 3 6. c. Judging will be on style and smoothness with an emphasis on hunter style of riding. d. Split into three rounds. The 1st round will be a Hunter Round and the scores will be announced. Based on the scores from Round 1, the top 20 riders will return in reverse order of scores from Round 1. Scores will be announced for the 2nd round. The final work off will consist of a minimum of the top 4 riders and a maximum of the top 10 riders. The riders will switch horses in the show arena and return in reverse order of the combined score from Round 1 and Round 2. Riders will jump a third course designated by the judges using components of the Round 1 and/or Round 2 courses up to a maximum of 8 jumps. The two judges will sit together and the final scores will not be announced. e. Specifications cannot be altered without the consent of the USHJA. HUNTERDON CUP COMPETITORS Commencing 12 hours prior to the start of the competition and continuing until finished competing, only the competition rider may ride his entry. These riders must wear their competition number at all times anywhere on the grounds whenever mounted. Riders must declare their mounts in the show office no later than 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 10. Riders changing horses for the Hunterdon Cup may do so only in the case of illness or injury to the declared horse and must obtain permission from the show committee. 11
