2 WE NEED YOUR ADDRESS: Please send your address to the Secretary it is cheaper to send the newsletter that way, plus you will get club notices and For Sale items faster. In addition, I have about 2 dozen addresses that are now undeliverable, if you used to get your newsletter via and do not now, please send in your new address. START OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 12/10/07 Meeting: Meeting convened at 7:00 pm (37 present, 26 members, 6 probationary and 5 guests). The November Minutes and Treasurer s report were approved. Unfinished and Old Business: The club voted to increase the membership by 25 starting in This amendment to the bylaws will be run in the November, December and January newsletters per the club bylaws. The webpage will be updated in 2008, David Rose has volunteered to lead that effort. New Business: The 2007 slate of officers is almost the same as last years, with Jerry Fipps taking over as Vice President for Dave Morgan. Many thanks to Dave for his work as VP, especially handling the work day details. Once again the slate of officers was chosen by default, not by design. There was discussion of not allowing any workdays after the final annual workday in November, due to the burden it places on the Vice President and Treasurer. It was felt that 4 scheduled workdays over 10 months was plenty of time to get in the 2 workdays. No action was taken. Meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM. END OF UNAPPROVED MINUTES for the 12/10/07 Meeting. BGC MEMBER PASSES AWAY BGC member Jonathan Shook passed away just before Christmas after a car accident. Lots of good things were accomplished in 2005 thru 2007, starting with the new rifle and pistol sheds, the club house was painted with a new roof and vinyl applied and a new pump house was built and a water conditioner installed. A new front entrance and gate has been completed and will be put into service soon.(gate provided by Paul Burton) The new and existing property on the east side has been cleared and graded with a dirt berm built on the south and east property to discourage un-authorized vehicles. The skeet and trap fields will be relocated to this eastern property and the cowboys ranges will be built at the existing skeet location. As you can see it has been very busy thru 2007 with several unfinished projects to be completed in I would like to thank the many dedicated club members that stuck with me through out the past few years, they are the reason our club will become one of the best in North Carolina. I m sure to leave out some deserving people so forgive me if I do. First thanks to Lewis Carlton and Jeff DeSantis, you guys have put in many hours with equipment made available to us by Bill Poteat, Jimmy McSwain and Tom Kaedig. John Gallagher was the major force behind the rifle and pistol sheds and club house vinyl job, John Brantley and Greg Taylor furnished equipment to build the rifle and pistol sheds. A special thanks to Jack Kuske, Don Sloop, Greg Taylor and David Rose for their untiring efforts in leading the way when we purchased additional property. Greg has agreed to construct the new skeet houses with the labor cost on him and the club will furnish the materials. (that s a biggie) Jack has helped me with anything I have ask and used his contacts with his former engineering firm to represent the gun club in obtaining a special use permit to build our new skeet and trap fields. Thanks to our resident surveyors Bobby McHenry, Howard Hoadly and Tom Morgan, they have kept us working on the right piece of dirt. We all should say thanks to the executive committee (which no one else seems to want) for the day by day operation of the club, Jerry Fipps as the new VP, Don Pelling treasury, Dick Brame secretary, Sholar Powell membership chairman and the chair persons of the different shooting interests. These people deserve your thanks for working many hours every year to maintain our gun club. I would like to challenge another contractor to build a shelter and wooden fences at the new skeet fields, under the same agreement as Taylor Construction Company. Scott Electric Company will wire the new facility for material cost only The help keeps rolling in thanks Walter Craven for providing the metal doors and frames for the new skeet houses. So with our membership of 300 plus lets make 2008 an even better year for the Buccaneer Gun Club. As Ned Bluntline would say..take a kid shooting.john Scott, president 3

6 BUCCANEER RANGE REGULATOR GAZETTE January 1897 Headline: Ten Reason you don't want to mess with "Wanted" #1. Guns don't kill people, Wanted does. #2. Wanted never hides, he only seeks. #3. Wanted once killed a raging Apache by pointing his finger and yelling "Bang." #4. If you can see Wanted, he can see you. If you can't, you may be only seconds from death. #5. Wanted's dog is trained to clean up his own poop because Wanted does not take S**T from anyone. #6. If Wanted had a dollar and you had a dollar, Wanted would kick your butt and take your dollar. #7. If Wanted had a dime for every man that survived a gunfight with him, he would have no dimes. #8. The National Funeral Directors Assn voted to make Wanted their honorary president after he personally increased their business by 300%. #9. At Wanted's bachelor party he ate an entire cake before his friends could tell him that there was a dancing girl inside. #10. There are three ways to do things: The right way, the wrong way, and Wanted's way...wanted's way is the same as the wrong way but with more gunshots. #11. Wanted had seven children...three became doctors...the others were delicious... #12. When Wanted gives you "The Finger"...it means you have one second to live... Last months event was a lot of fun, the scores went like this: High Noon Henry T 1 Top Gun Ben Mommicked* 49er 2 49er Winner Ragtime Kid SS 3 Silver Senior Winner Castle Hayne Kid BW 4 B Western Winner Dick Holliday S 5 Senior Winner Carolina Rose LS 6 Ladies Senior Winner Wanted S Saloon Keeper* SS Tiger Kid T 9 Traditional Winner Range Raider S Rober Del SS Tightwad S Mad Dog T Mopar Kid S Dodge City Dude ES 15 Elder Statesman Winner Shady Shyster* S Stalker S Bullseye Mike 49er Patti MacGarrett D 19 Dualist Winner Billy Byrd T Idaho Spud ES Sunny* SD 22 Senior Dualist Winner Kid Jallao 49er Stubby Steve D Irish Lace LT 25 Ladies Tradl Winner Wolverine Woman LS Brunswick Kid** J 27 Junior Winner Sassy Brass LT E Town Marshall SS 29 Did not finish * Clean Shot * First time shooter ** Thanks to all who participated and helped us run the match and make it a fun time for all...be with us on the second Saturday in February when we'll do it all over again...till then don't forget to..."take a kid shooting"...
