It s great to see that a number of team/players continue to return time and again, so I can only assume you re enjoying your time in Lismore. A big thank you to our players and local Council who helped us to prepare the grounds and all the volunteers who will man the canteen, first aid and maintain the grounds and keep our wonderful facility clean. Without your help this tournament could not go ahead. To all the Umpires who have made themselves available for the weekend, we hope you enjoy your stay and the teams do not give you too much of a hard time. With sixteen teams, we have had think outside the square to ensure all teams had plenty of games and hopefully you will play most teams that have entered into the competition. 5 Albert Park - Lismore Ground 4 D2B D3B D2A D2C D3A D3C Ground 1 Softball will be using grounds 2 and 3 over the weekend, with Baseball using grounds1 and 4. All diamonds have enclosed dugouts, but please feel welcome to bring along extra shelter for shade, especially for spectators. The canteen will be operating over the three days catering for all your needs. Beer and alcoholic drinks will be served upstairs in the clubhouse. So hopefully, you will have plenty to eat and drink and the weather will be kind to us all. A tent for all umpires will be set up between grounds 2 and 3. This will also be where the tournament convenor will be situated. First aid will be supplied and will be setup near the umpire s tent. DO NOT RING AN AMBULANCE CONTACT THE FIRST AID PERSONNEL TO ARRANGE Due to the lack of nominations in the over 40 age group, teams have been placed in various pools At the end of competition a medal presentation will be held under the trees in the middle of the park. 5

12 Lismore Workers Club Master Games Softball Regulations 1. Eligibility: 1.1 Only registered competitors of the Lismore Workers Club Rainbow Region Master Games 2013 shall be eligible to participate. 1.2 All players must turn 30 years or older by 31 December Participating Coaches, Scorers, Managers and Umpires do not have to meet the age restriction, but to receive player benefits; they must register as an Accompanying Persons or Social Registration. 1.4 Any game in which an ineligible player/official participates shall be declared a forfeit to the non-offending team. 2. Team Entry: 2.1 Each team must lodge an official team sheet and individual player entry forms. Please Note: No individual player entry forms will be accepted after the closing date. However, another player can replace players who cannot attend for various reasons. 3. Team Composition: 3.1 Teams shall consist of a maximum of twenty (20) players and no less than 11 players plus a non-playing Umpire 4. Uniforms: 4.1 All team members must wear matching uniforms as per the Rule book, unless special arrangements have been made with the Convenor. 4.2 Metal cleats and/or screw in stops are not to be worn by players. 5. Umpires: 5.1 Each team must nominate a non-playing umpire and pay a $ bond direct to FNCSA by cheque prior to the close date, which will be returned after the completion of the games. Failure to supply an umpire could see that team rejected from the competition. 5.2 Umpires must have at least a Level 1 Accreditation and be available for every timeslot for the duration of the competition, unless special arrangements have been made with the Convenor. 5.2 Teams may also be required to supply base umpires as requested. A roster of upcoming duties will be given out at the Managers meeting held prior to the start of competition. 12
13 5.3 Umpires must report to the Lismore Workers Club Master Games Tournament grounds at 7.30am on the first competition day. 6. Travel and Accommodation: 6.1 Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the participating teams. 7. Format: 7.1 The format to be used will be determined by the number of team entries received. 8. Team Entries: 8.1 Team entries must be made on the relevant Entry Form. 8.2 Entry forms, together with the Entry Fee, must be received by the Lismore Workers Club Rainbow Masters Games committee by the nominated closing date. 9. Managers Meeting: 9.1 A Managers meeting will be held at the grounds at 7.30am on the first day of competition. 13
14 Lismore Workers Club Master Games Softball Game Rules 1. The Game: 1.1 All games shall be played in accordance with the latest Australian Softball Federation Inc rules as adopted by Softball NSW Inc unless otherwise specified in these rules. 1.2 Result cards are to be completed and presented to the umpire ten minutes before each game commences. 1.3 The team first named in the draw shall occupy first base bench and call the toss. Each team shall be entitled to five (5) minutes warm-up on the diamond prior to the scheduled starting time. 1.4 The pitching distance for all grades will be 40ft. 1.5 At Albert Park the ball is live off the fence/net for all grounds. 1.6 Each team will supply their own tournament balls. First Game: (a) The team named first in the draw shall occupy the first base bench. (b) The toss is to be taken fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled starting time by the team captain/manager. (c) Bats and helmets belonging to both teams will be checked. The Tournament Umpire in Chief (T.U.C) will hold illegal/altered bats and rejected helmets found for the duration of the tournament. Teams are to ensure they collect confiscated equipment at the end of the tournament. (d) Players will be checked regarding shoes and jewellery (e) Players will be required to show their identity badge. Subsequent Games: (a) The team named first in the draw shall occupy the first base bench. (b) Fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled starting time the toss is taken by the team captain/manager. (c) The team batting first in the game has first use of the diamond and its time shall expire six (6) minutes prior to the start time. (d) The second team warming up stays on the diamond for the start of the game. (e) Shoes and jewellery are the responsibility of the team manager. (f) Players may be asked to show their identity badge. 1.4 All games shall be one hour and fifteen minutes and shall commence and finish at the times specified in the draw unless delayed by the previous game, or unless: (a) if the team second at bat is at bat and is equal or behind, the game will continue until a result is obtained or the innings is completed. (b) the top of an innings shall not commence with less than five (5) minutes to play. 14
15 1.5 If any team is not ready to play at the appointed time, this will result in a forfeit to the non-offending team. 1.6 During round games, should a regulation game be completed before the time has expired and the result is a draw, the game will continue with the TIE BREAKER referred to in clause 1.11 being played until a result is achieved or time expires, whichever occurs first. 1.7 During an elimination game, if the final score is a draw, the game will continue until a result is obtained with the TIE BREAKER referred to in clause 1.11 commencing at the beginning of the next inning. 1.7 All games shall be regulation game or timed games of one (1) hour and fifteen (15) minutes, whichever occurs first. 1.8 A DESIGNATED RUNNER, referred to as a DR, may be used during the game for any baserunner provided it is made known prior to the start of the game and their name appears in position number eleven (11) on the bench list. 1.8(a) The DR may enter the game once in inning to for any baserunner. inning, 1.8(b) A base runner replaced by the DR returns to the game upon completion of the or at their next turn at bat, whichever is the sooner. 1.8 (c) The DR may neither enter the game defensively nor offensively. 1.8(d) The DR may be substituted for at any time by a pinch runner who then becomes the DR. The substitute must be a player who has not yet been in the game. 1.8(e) The DR substituted by a pinch runner, as above, may not return to the game. COURTESY RUNNER FOR CATCHER 1.9 When there is two (2) out and the catcher is on base, any player listed on the score card may replace the catcher on base as the runner. This does not count as a substitution. PICK-UP PLAYERS 1.10 To prevent a forfeit should a team be unable to field nine of their own registered players, such team is eligible to pick-up two (2) players from another team provided those two players are registered in the same or a lower division as the team requiring pickups. 1.10(a) Pick up players cannot play in the positions of pitcher and/or catcher. 1.10(b) Pick up players can only be used when a team s own registered players are too ill or injured to participate further in the tournament or aren t in attendance at the grounds for that game. The CONVENOR must be informed PRIOR to the use of a pickup player to ensure the team is eligible to use that player. players 1.10(c) Pick up players are permitted for finals provided teams do not use the pick-up and leave their registered team members on the bench. 15
16 1.11 The run ahead rule, seven (7) runs after the fifth (5th) innings, ten (10) runs after the fourth (4 th ) innings and fifteen (15) runs after the third (3 rd ) innings, will apply to all games, including the finals If after seven (7) innings the score is equal and time has not elapsed, the following tie-breaker will be played to determine the result of the game. Commencing at the beginning of the eighth (8 th ) inning. Each half inning, the offensive team shall begin its turn at bat with the player who is scheduled to bat 9 th in the respective half inning, being placed on 2 nd base The practice of chewing gum and or spitting will not be permitted. 2. Participants: 2.1 Only registered members of the Lismore Workers Club Master Games may participate. 2.2 Teams must only use those players and officials as submitted on the Tournament Entry Form. Changes to the original sheet are permitted up until the Thursday prior to the Tournament. Please Note: No individual player entry forms will be accepted after the closing date. However, another player can replace players who cannot attend for various reasons. 2.3 Teams may only field players who are eligible by the Tournament Rules. An ineligible player taking part will automatically result in forfeiture of the game. Result Cards: 3.1 Result cards will be supplied by the FNCSA and must be completed by both teams and handed to the Plate Umpire prior to the start of the game. It is the responsibility of the plate umpires to return the result card to the Tournament Convenor. 3.2 The name of every participant must be legibly printed on the result card. No felt or gel pens are to be use. 4. Points: 4.1 Points for games will be awarded as follows: Win 3 points Draw 2 points Loss 1 point Forfeit 0 points 5 Determining Tied Positions: 5.1 In the event of teams being tied for any position following the completion of the round games, runs against shall be used to determine the placement. 5.2 Should the teams still be tied after calculating the runs against the higher seeding shall be determined by runs for. 5.3 Should the teams still be tied after calculating the runs for and against the higher seeding shall be allocated to the winner of the round game between the two (2) tied teams. 5.4 Should this game be a draw, the following procedure shall be followed until the tie is broken. 16
17 5.4.1 The higher seeding shall be allocated to the team with the highest total number of runners left on base in the game referred to in Should the number of runners left on base be equal, the higher seeding shall be allocated to team who scored first, after equal innings, in the game referred to in Forfeits: 6.1 Any team using an ineligible player as defined in these Regulations shall forfeit all games in which that ineligible player has participated. 6.2 Games shall commence and finish on time. These times will be determined by the Plate Umpire s watch. If a game starts late due to either of the teams not being ready to play on time, the game will still finish on time. If a game starts late due to lateness of an umpire, the umpire will start the game immediately upon arrival and the game will go for the full-allotted time. 6.3 Any team that does not have the required number of players to begin or continue a game will forfeit to the non-offending team. However, if any player is injured during the tournament, then teams may take the field with eight (8) players. 7. Umpires: 7.1 Each team competing must supply one (1) umpire for the duration of the Tournament. The umpires must have at least a Level 1 Accreditation. 7.2 Umpires dress shall be as section 12.3 of the Softball NSWA State Championships Regulations. (Minimum dress dark blue shorts/pants and light blue shirt). 7.3 All umpires are required to report to grounds by 7.30am on the first game of the tournament. 8. Protest: 8.1 The T.U.C. and /or appointed Deputy shall adjudicate on all protests, on playing rules, which shall be resolved on the spot. 9. Disputes: 9.1 The FNCSA shall appoint a Disputes Committee, comprising no less than three (3) persons, who shall adjudicate on all disputes involving an interpretation of the tournament rules or on any matter that may arise at the Tournament not otherwise covered by these rules and shall be resolved on the spot. 17
18 10. Wet Weather/Bad Light: 10.1 The Plate Umpire shall suspend a game if conditions are dangerous or unplayable. It is solely the responsibility of the Plate Umpire and does not require the consent of the T.U.C. The Plate Umpire may resume the suspended game if the conditions warrant The T.U.C. may direct a Plate Umpire to suspend a game 10.3 Once the game is suspended by the Plate Umpire, the T.U.C may abandon the game if the conditions remain dangerous or unplayable When any game in progress is called off, it shall be considered a regulation game provided 50% of allotted time has elapsed or a minimum of three (3) innings has been played. Any game called off before such time and which cannot be re-scheduled shall be declared a draw. A re-scheduled game shall be played from the point of abandonment. 11. Grand Final: 11.1 A Grand Final will be played between the two (2) top teams in each division to determine the overall winners The Grand Final Shall be a regulation timed game (1 hour 15 minutes) The tie-breaker referred to in 1.11 shall come into operation should the score be equal at the completion of time In the event of the Final not being completed due to inclement weather the winner of the game shall be determined as follows: If three (3) or more innings have been completed or the team second at bat has scored more runs than the other team has scored in three (3) or more innings, the winner shall be the winner of this regulation game If less than three (3) innings have been completed OR the score is tied at the end of the three (3) completed innings joint winners shall be declared. 12. Presentation: 12.1 The Presentation will take place at the conclusion of the Tournament. 18
