THE TWINS: The Twins began their season-long, 10-day road trip with a 2-1 series win at Toronto and after an off day Thursday opened their series up in Detroit with a win last night... today, the Twins continue their three game weekend series with Detroit, then travel to Boston for three Monday-Wednesday...the Twins play just five more home games this month and 11 road games...the Twins are on the road, winning six of their last nine. BEHIND GIBSON, TWINS BLNK TIGERS: The Twins beat the Tigers last night by a score of Kyle Gibson (6-5) was the starter and winner as he tossed 7.0 scoreless innings allowing just five hits...he walked two and struck out three...casey Fien pitched a perfect eighth inning while Glen Perkins recorded his 17th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning...the Twins scattered just four hits, including a third inning home run from Eduardo Escobar, who also drew a bases loaded walk in the ninth inning...joe Mauer, Kendrys Morales and Kurt Suzuki had the other Twins hits. THE BIG BSES LODED DP: The biggest pitch Kyle Gibson threw in his seven scoreless innings on Friday night was the one that induced a Miguel Cabrera double-play grounder with the bases loaded in the fifth inning...according to the Elias Sports Bureau, Cabrera entered the game with a career.417 batting average with the bases loaded which was the second-highest such average for any player who debuted in the expansion era (since 1961) and has at least 100 at-bats with the bases full, behind Tony Gwynn (.444).
