2 Border Blades Figure Skating Club 7 th Annual Holiday Classic Competition Friday, December 2 nd to Saturday, December 3 rd, 2016 Purpur Arena th Ave South Grand Forks, ND The Holiday Classic Competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates which have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website. This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-u.s. Citizens. The 6.0 Majority Judging System will be used for all events at the Holiday Classic Competition. ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL: Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the entry deadline in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event. Skaters who placed in the top four in a final round of their last qualifying competition in their divisions must move up one level, except for novice and higher. Age restrictions/requirements: Skaters entering juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program) must be under 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering open juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program), must be at least 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering beginner pre-juvenile events will be divided as closely as possible by age should the number of entries warrant more than one group. ENTRIES: All entries must be submitted online at no later than 11:59pm on November 3, Entry fees are per person, U.S. dollars. The first event is $105 and each additional event is $25. Contested credit cards will be issued a $35 fee. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Competition Referee and the Competition Committee. Late entries, if accepted, will be assessed a $50.00 late fee. REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded after November 10, 2017 unless the event is canceled by Border Blades FSC. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals. The online processing fees are not refundable. Contested credit card charges will be issued a $35 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. AWARDS: All events will be final rounds. Medals will be awarded to 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd places and ribbons to 4 th place. ALL awards will be given out at the awards table after event results are posted. 1 st -4 th place will pose for group photos. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS & PRACTICE ICE: The schedule will be posted on the Entryeeze website. Practice ice will be available at the Purpur Arena. A imum of 25 skaters will be allowed on the ice during any one session. Practice ice will be available for purchase on the Entryeeze website after the competition schedule is posted. No music will be allowed during practice ice. MUSIC: The official competition music for all Freeskate, short program and artistic events must be uploaded to the Entryeeze website. A back up CD should be readily available. In the event the back up CD is used it may be picked up at the registration table following each event. Every reasonable care will be taken, but Border Blades FSC cannot be responsible for CDs left at the end of the competition. CONCESSIONS: A concession stand will be available during the competition. LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, Border Blades FSC, and Purpur Arena accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.
3 PHOTOGRAPHS: Photographs will be taken of all groups for those placing 1 st -4 th after event results are posted. Individual photographs are also available after the group photo. Photos will be available for purchase at the rink. REGISTRATION DESK: The Holiday Classic Competition is scheduled for December 2-3, Registration will be at the entrance of the Purpur Arena, th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND and will be open a half hour before practice ice or one hour before the first event, whichever is earlier and run through the last event of the day. Please register promptly upon arrival. OFFICIAL NOTICES: An official bulletin board will be maintained next to the registration desk. It is the responsibility of each competitor, parent and coach to check the bulletin board frequently for any schedule changes and/or additional information. Skaters are requested to arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted prior to the competition. All competition information is also available at COMPETITION APPAREL: Short and long sleeve t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts will be available by pre-order only. T- shirts (long and short sleeve) available in unisex sizes: Youth X-Small to YX-Large and Adult Small to 4X-Large. Hooded Sweatshirts available in sizes YS to YXL and Adult S to 4XL. Cost is $18 per t-shirt, $24 for a long sleeve t-shirt and $30 for a youth sweatshirt and $35 for an adult sweatshirt. All apparel will be handed out at the Registration Desk. COACHING CREDENTIALS: U.S. Figure Skating Rule MR 5.11 Coach Compliance: In order to be granted access to work within U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned activities, each coach must complete the following requirements on an annual basis by July 1: A. Must be a current full member of U.S. Figure Skating - either through a member club or as an individual member; B. Must complete the coach registration process through the U.S. Figure Skating Members Only site, submit proper payment for the annual registration fee of $30 and, if 18 years of age or older, successfully pass the background screen. C. Must complete the appropriate CER courses (A,B, C or D) depending on the highest level of students being coached as of July 1. See rule MR D. Must submit proof of current general liability insurance with limits of $1 million per occurrence/$5 million aggregate. The local organizing committee/club will have a list of compliant coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Non-credentialed coaches will not be permitted in the designated coaching area at rink side during events including practice sessions. Coaching at U.S. Figure Skating events without compliance is an ethics violation which is reported to U.S. Figure Skating and PSA. For more information regarding Coach Compliance, please refer to:

7 U.S. Figure Skating Nonqualifying Competitions EVENT: Test Track Free Skate Introductory through Senior levels Event parameters: 1. Skaters may not enter both a Well-Balanced Free Skate event and a Test Track Free Skate event at the same non-qualifying competition. 2. Skaters will skate to the music of their choice. Vocal music is permitted at all levels. 3. Level will be determined by the highest Free Skate test passed. Skaters may compete at the highest level they have passed, or skate up to one level higher. 4. Minimum number of spin revolutions are in ( ) following the spin description. Revolutions must be in position. 5. The following deductions will be taken: from each mark for each technical element included that is not permitted in the event description from the technical mark for each extra element included from the technical mark for any spin that is less than the required minimum revolutions.
