1 Nez Perce- National Forests Attachment 4 - Forest Plan Amendment Project Specific Amendment Would Apply to the DRAMVU Project Only Nez Perce National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan Amendment No. 40 The purpose of this amendment is to allow wheeled motorized vehicles on specifically identified local roads in the winter, in Management Area 16 Elk/Deer, only for the DRAMVU project. The Nez Perce Forest Plan Standard for Wildlife Access Management (Page III-46) currently reads as follows: 1. Restrict all roads except specifically-identified arterials and collectors during winter to reduce disturbance, harassment, and poaching of animals. s to be open shall be identified on the motor vehicle use map. Standard #1 directs the use of certain roads as restricted in winter, in Elk/Deer The current conditions of certain roads in Management Area 16 do not meet this standard because they have not been restricted in winter. This project-specific amendment exempts the DRAMVU project from the Wildlife Access Management Standard #1 for certain roads within Management Area 16 to allow certain local roads to remain open to wheeled motorized use in the winter (Table ROD-5). In elk and deer winter range, this alternative will designate 39 miles of local roads as open for wheeled motorized use in winter, while 19 miles would be closed during winter. Sixty miles of road would remain closed yearlong to motorized vehicle use. The DRAMVU decision specifically-identifies arterials and collectors that would be open for use in winter (Table ROD-6) and displayed on the Motor Vehicle Use Map. Approximately 63 miles of arterial/collector roads would be designated as open yearlong and five miles as closed. This is consistent with the standard. *** End of Amendment *** DRAMVU-ROD ATTACHMENT 4 FOREST PLAN AMENDMENT PAGE 1
