1 MARLINS MINUTE Miami's final road trip of the year begins with this three-game series at Washington. Following Thursday's off-day, will wrap up the season with a three-game set at the Mets. Monday's makeup game in Pittsburgh was officially cancelled this afternoon. The Marlins completed their final homestand of the season, going 4-2 after splitting a two-game series vs. Washington and taking three of four from Cincinnati. Jeff Brigham, Miami's Triple-A New Orleans Pitcher of the Year, is making his fourth career start, and first against the Nationals. Has dropped each of his first three starts, including his last outing on Thursday vs. Cincinnati (5.0 ip, 3 h, 2 r, 4 bb, 6 k). Is opposing Max Scherzer who has won his last five starts vs. the Marlins and is 11-3 with a 3.09 ERA in his career against Miami. YESTERDAY'S RECAP The Marlins dropped the first game of the three-game series vs. the Nationals, 7-3. Sandy Alcantara suffered his second straight loss, allowing 6 er in 4.0 ip. REASON TO CELEBRATE HERITAGE With Miami's shutout on Sunday on Mexican Heritage Day at Marlins Park, the Marlins improved to 7-1 on heritage celebration days this season.
