1 Isabella County Sportsman s Club P.O. Box 363 Winn, MI A M e s s a g e f r o m t h e P r e s i d e n t : The Winn Road reconstruction project should be complete sometime in August. As mentioned in an earlier column, trees (mostly maple) that were harvested as part of the project have been stacked on the property and will be available for firewood. A work bee has been scheduled for Saturday, July 25, and one of the projects for that day will be to cut and stack some of that wood and make it available to the membership. If you heat with wood and are interested in a large quantity, please send me a note and I m sure we can work something out. Grounds maintenance is always labor intensive, especially in the summer. At the present time, the board has no grounds maintenance committee chairperson. Grounds committee personnel are mainly responsible for mowing grass and trimming around buildings and structures. If you are interested in riding the club mower and doing a little grass trimming to help beautify the ranges and grounds, please let me know and I will be happy to get you involved. Activities around your club continue to flourish. Whether on the rifle range, trap field, sporting clays or archery courses, there is something going on every week. The clubhouse is now being rented on a regular basis. Plans for dinners, the gun show, cabin fever, CPL courses, hunter safety and other activities are in the works. Your ICSC is alive and well. Hope you can come out and enjoy! Scott DeFrain ICSC President W o r k B e e S c h e d u l e d f o r J u l y 2 5 t h Inside this issue: The ICSC is looking for some help! There are many jobs (weed wacking, cleaning, chopping wood, picking up trash, etc.) that need to be done around the club to bring it back up to the standards that we have come to know and enjoy. Of course the more members who help, the less work any one person has to do. If you can spare a couple hours on Saturday, July 25th starting at 8:00 a.m., we sure would appreciate it. Lunch will be provided for all who volunteer. Please log in to the website listed below and let us know that you will be there to help. forms/d/1tlosrgqjiryd- 79B8Hc5ihd8OSkZy9_ts QTsm6g_mKY/viewform Hunter Safety 2 Egg Shoot Results 2 Winter Trap League 3 Gun Show 4 CPL Class 5 Targets for Sale 5 Help Wanted 6
2 Page 2 H u n t e r S a f e t y E d u c a t i o n Through the years, the Isabella County Sportsman s Club has earned a reputation for offering one of the best Hunter Safety Education Programs in the state. 3 Winter Trap League Results Page 3 The winter trap league had some hurdles to jump but all of the shooters persevered and we finally made it through! The winter trap league started on January 3rd with a machine that was out of time. We got that repaired and were able to move on. In February we had to take a week off due to the temperature and wind chill being well below zero. Next, the throwing arm broke. Luckily we were able to get that fixed before the next Saturday. We finished up the Winter League of 300 birds at the end of March. There were 11 shooters in the league this year. We used a handicap system so that everyone had a chance to win the top shooter award. The top shooters this year were Dave Herman (gold group), Ron Miller (silver group) and Andrew Wittbrodt (junior). Randy Keeler was the winner of the Toilet Paper Award. As far as the team results go, the team of Don Miller and Dave Herman tied with Scott Currie and Sam Spagnolo. Sam and Scott won the shootoff. The awards banquet was held on May 6th in the Maple Room of the Shepherd bar. The bar provided the main dish of beef and chicken and the shooters each brought a dish to pass. A special thanks to bar owner Kent Roth for hosting us. Stay tuned for information on the next Winter Trap League. Tentatively set to begin on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 Sam Spagnolo, Dick Nethers, and Scott Currie Andrew Wittbrodt & Dick Nethers Randy Keeler & Dick Nethers
4 Page 4 4 th Annual Isabella County Sportsman s Club Gun Show October 17, :00 am 4:00 pm October 17, 2015 is the date for the 4 th Annual ICSC Gun Show. The clubhouse was filled to capacity at our 2014 show with some 20 vendors offering a wide selection of firearms, both old and new. We also featured a historical exhibit covering a selection of US Military small arms from the Civil War to the present. The exhibit definitely sparked lively gun conversations, especially among veterans and was educational for young and old. This year we are planning to host another great show and once again include a historical exhibit. So mark the date on your calendar. If you have something to trade, bring it along. If you are thinning out your collection, rent a table. We hope to see you there. Admission is $5.00 for adults / children under 12 FREE All non-vendor firearms will be checked at the door and supplied with an empty chamber/barrel indicator for safety Light concessions will be available Table Rental for Vendors - $25.00each For additional information or to rent a table, please contact Scott Radtke, ICSC Board member at scradtke@gmail.com or call and leave a message Pre-registration for tables is being accepted.

It takes about six hours to mow the entire grounds with the equipment that we own. There would be some additional time needed to do the trimming.
