1 LIGHT!!! (Radiant energy) Radiant energy includes light, microwaves, UV waves, radio waves and more Waves are energy that causes a disturbance. The medium that waves move through does not travel with the wave. (If it did, you would feel a breeze!) Medium the substance that the wave travels through Radiant waves are ElectromagneHc TRANSVERSE WAVES

3 Waves Larger amplitude means more energy Wavelength is the distance between waves Frequency is how close the waves are to one another. The closer they are, the more waves are produced in a given amount of Hme. Frequency is measured in Hertz Amplitude is the maximum distance a wave vibrates from its rest posihon.

35 What happens when waves collide? This is called interference Interference when two waves overlap. The interference will either cause the wave to become stronger or weaker.

36 Transmi?ng Light Materials can be classified by the amount and type of light they transmit. Transparent materials let most light through so that the objects behind the material are visible. Translucent materials let light through, but they spread the light out so that objects cannot be clearly seen through them. Opaque materials do not let any light through.

38 Primary Colors of Light The primary colors of light are Red, Blue, & Green Pigments can absorb certain wavelengths or light (certain colors) and reflect others. The primary colors of pigments are magenta, yellow, and cyan.
