4 CRICKET FESTIVAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 2012 The length of the pitch in all matches shall be 21 yards. NO fielder may be closer than 11 yards (except behind the wicket on the off side). Cricket balls will be 4 ¾ oz. FESTIVAL (ECB) BOWLING DIRECTIVES The ECB BOWLING DIRECTIVE will be enforced for FAST BOWLERS. They will be limited to spells of up to 5 overs - and no more than 10 overs per day. FAST BOWLERS will be required to rest from bowling for ONE day in the week. For guidance it is recommended that in any 7 day period a fast bowler should not bowl more than 4 days in that period and for a maximum of 2 days in a row. HELMETS ECB SAFETY GUIDELINES ON THE WEARING OF CRICKET HELMETS APPLY THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVAL. LENGTH OF MATCH Each side may bat for up to 45 overs. If the first side elects to DECLARE, then the second side WILL GET THE EXTRA OVERS. If the first side is bowled out in less than 45 overs, then the second side will get the extra overs ONLY IF THEY LOST THE TOSS. ANY DECISIONS ABOUT EXTRA OVERS MUST BE DEDICED AT THE START OF THE SECOND INNINGS. WIDES A wide is worth 2 runs, but no extra ball will be bowled. Any runs completed off a wide ball will count. markings will be provided to assist umpires to judge wides. IN THE LAST OVER OF A MATCH (A WIDE STILL COUNTS 2) but umpires will give an EXTRA BALL. DRINKS / COACHING BREAKS Each innings will have FOUR set breaks (see Daily Routine) when coaches can come on to the field of play and give instructions and make tactical changes and suggestions. RAIN RULES (at the discretion of the Festival Organiser) The first HOUR lost in a match will be ignored. Rain during the 1 st innings Rain during the 2 nd innings =1 over deducted for 5 mins lost. =1 over deducted for every 3 mins lost.
5 TARGET SCORES U12 s If rain curtails the 2 nd innings the TARGET SCORE will be calculated by dividing the 1 st innings total by 45 OVERS (for completed innings) or by the numbers of overs bowled (if less than 45 overs due to rain). Example: 1 st innings 45 over Total = 164 (therefore = 3.64 runs per over) 2 nd innings 32 overs score 108 The TARGET SCORE is therefore 32 x 3.64 = 116 RESULT 1 st INNINGS TEAM GET A WINNING DRAW 2 nd INNINGS TEAM GET A LOSING DRAW If less than 20 overs become available for the side batting second, the game will be abandoned as a draw. Each side will receive 6 points, together with any bonus points gained. NB: The FESTIVAL ORGANISER will attempt to get as much cricket as possible in the week so flexibility may be built in.
