1 Fees for home students Introduction This report provides an overview of tuition fees for postgraduate taught degrees at University of Strathclyde and other Scottish Universities. The average fees are calculated the average of four popular courses at Strathclyde, each from a different faculty. For comparison with other universities, the closest equivalent to the Strathclyde course is found. The full list of courses and fees can be found in the appendix. In 2017, fees at Strathclyde were one of the cheapest, with the average fees just 80 more than at the cheapest Scottish university of those observed. In 2018 however, Strathclyde postgraduate fees were the 3 rd most expensive ones, with only University of Edinburgh and St. Andrews having higher fees. The difference in fees between Strathclyde and the cheapest institution has now risen to 2,860.

The increase is close to that number for the rest of the UK students as well, at an average increase of 40%. The fee increases for international students have been much lower, standing at 8%. Funding opportunities for postgraduate study For the 2018 / 2019 entry, eligible full-time students were able to apply to SAAS for: 1. A tuition fee loan up to a maximum of 5, A living cost loan of 4,500 For Strathclyde courses, this leaves students with an average funding gap of 3,350 for the tuition fees alone.

3 Appendix: Methodology and data sources. The courses that chosen for comparison were the following: Faculty Engineering Humanities and Social Sciences Science Business School Subject MSc Mechanical Engineering LLM Law MSc Advanced Biochemistry MSc International Management For other universities, the closest equivalent to the Strathclyde courses was found. For example, for Edinburgh and Glasgow Caledonian, prices for Chemical Engineering instead of Mechanical Engineering were used as Mechanical Engineering is not offered on those courses.
