3 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge 2015 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge The 2015 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge (the Event ) is organized by the Edmonton and District Kart Racing Association ( EDKRA ), Overdrive Motorsports (Joey Guyon), and Apollo Motorsports (Kevin Dowler). The Event s primary purpose is to encourage fun participation, under a format that is intended to minimize time and cost commitments for competitors, while still offering a strong prize package. Event Managers: Joey Guyon and Kevin Dowler. 2. Sanctioning The Event is sanctioned by ASN Canada FIA. 3. Event Inquiries overdrivekart@xplornet.ca By phone: Joey Guyon Event Date The Event will take place Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, August 2, The Track The track has 13 turns and is 1,189 metres in length. The track will be run in a counter clockwise direction. The Event will be held at the Warburg Kart Track, located in the Village of Warburg, Alberta, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Edmonton. Directions: From Alberta Highway 2, take Highway 39 west at Leduc toward Calmar / Drayton Valley, past Sunnybrook. Left at the FasTrack gas station onto 50th Street (770) into Warburg. Driver, Team and Parental Sportsmanship Theme All participants, including entrants, drivers, crewmembers and parents/guardians shall conduct themselves according to the highest standards of behaviour and sportsmanship, particularly in relations with other competitors, officials, sponsors and their products, and in a manner that shall not be prejudicial to the reputation of the Event, ASN, promoters, sponsors, organisers, or to kart sport in general. Sportsmanship means any person s conduct and behaviour while participating in a sport. Examples are fairness, respect for one s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing. Any abuse of officials or other participants will not be tolerated. Entrants, drivers and parents/guardians are responsible at all times for the conduct of their driver, crewmembers and guests. Any violation of this regulation is directly chargeable to the entrant and/or driver. Yelling, shouting, physical altercations, bullying, intimidation either directly at an event or on internet social network programs are considered violations of this regulation. Violation of this regulation can result in penalties including loss of Event Awards, driving privilege suspension, monetary fine, exclusion from a track session and/or the Event. 7. Facility Quiet Hours It is not permitted to run engines or to create any loud noise, including music from any source, from 8:00pm to 8:00am, except for on-track sessions per the Event Schedule, or other specific purposes planned by the Event Organizers. Complete curfew applies at 10:00 pm. Failure to respect the facility quiet hours will result in penalty. 8. Camping and Accommodations RV Parking is available at the track in designated areas. There are a limited number of fully serviced RV spots available for rent for $ for the Event. Additional space is available for free for RV s or tents, with no hookups available. The track has full washroom facilities with showers for use by all Event participants and guests. Details will be provided in the future with regards to official Event hotels. 9. Event Awards Trophies The Event Organizers will award Event trophies to the top three drivers of each class at the conclusion of the Final Race. Page 4

Amendment to Regulations 2015 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge When the Event has started, amendments involving the Regulations and the Event Schedule can only be made by Event Manager in accordance with ASN protocols. 13. Note 1: Briggs LO206 Senior and Masters will be permitted to race with the following changes to the ASN Technical Regulations: Maximum rear wheel width for dry tires = 215mm (instead of 175 to 185mm per ASN Tech Reg 8.15) Maximum overall width = 140 cm (instead of 127 cm per ASN Tech Reg 8.4) Page 7

Eligible Entries and License Requirements a) Residents of Canada 2015 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge The Event is open only to Canadian residents, who must be members in good standing of any ASN Canada FIA affiliated kart club. They may enter any Class provided they possess the appropriate License Grade, their kart meets the appropriate technical requirements, and the driver meets the entry qualifications for their particular class. 15. Competition Numbers All karts must have a unique number of no more than three digits made up of numerals only. National competitor number reserved with ASN Canada FIA prevails if two competitors have the same number. 16. Event Registration Fees All Rotax Classes: $ All Briggs LO206 Classes: $ Late Online Registration Penalty (after Sunday July 26): $50.00 per class Late Registration Onsite Penalty: $ per class Includes 1 Driver Pass, 1 Mechanic Pass, Trailer Parking, all on-track activities from Thursday to Sunday. 9 17. Registration Process a) Online registration opens approximately 3 weeks prior to the Event date and closes the Tuesday night prior the event at midnight. After the closing of the online registration, only onsite registration will be possible. b) Online registrations can be paid by credit card only. Onsite registrations must be paid in cash only. c) No on-track or competition privileges will be permitted without payment in full as described above. d) All participants and crew members must read and sign a waiver form at the track. No participant will be allowed on-track until they have registered for the event. e) Upon completion of all paperwork and the payment of all fees, participants will be issued documentation and passes. Lost passes for drivers and mechanics may be replaced for a fee of $ f) At Registration, each participant must submit a fully completed Pre-Technical Inspection Self- Declaration form. Registration will issue the appropriate kart sticker only after the payment of event fees and completion of all required paperwork. g) Drivers found on the track without having completed the approved Pre-Technical Inspection Self- Declaration form are subject to penalty. h) All karts must bear the appropriate kart sticker and kart number before entering the track. i) It is the competitor s responsibility to ensure that their kart meets the technical requirements for their class throughout the entire race event. j) Any kart or driver s racing equipment is subject to Technical Inspection at any time. k) At registration, a tire declaration form will be provided to each entrant. The entrant must declare four (4) dry and four (4) wet tires, by denoting the serialized bar code on the tire declaration form, and it is the driver s responsibility to submit the completed tire declaration form to the Technical Director prior to the beginning of qualifying for the class. 18. Tire and Oil specifications For all classes, participants are required to provide their own tires for the Event. Tires will not be provided by the Event Organizers at the track. a) Dry Tires ALL CLASSES Official Qualifying and Race Sessions Maximum of one (1) set of dry tires allowed for the Event, from the beginning of Qualifying through to the end of the Final. Participants have the option of qualifying on new or used dry tires, however the tires that are selected for qualifying must be used throughout the remainder of the Race sessions. Page 9

10 Each driver must submit a tire declaration form must be submitted prior to the beginning of qualifying. Replacement of damaged tires can be done, only with the permission of the Technical Director, and the replacement tire cannot be adjudged to be in better condition than the tire being replaced. b) Rain Tires ALL CLASSES Official Qualifying and Race Sessions Maximum of one (1) set of rain tires allowed for the Official Event sessions, from the beginning of Qualifying through to the end of the Final. Participants have the option of utilizing new or used tires, however the tires that are first selected for utilization must be used throughout the remainder of the Race sessions. Rotax and Rotax Mini MAX 2015 Canadian Rotax Summer Challenge The following Gear Ratio specifications are mandatory: Rotax : Front sprocket: 14 with Rear sprocket: 73 Rotax Mini MAX: Option 1: Front sprocket: 13 with Rear sprocket: Paddock Spaces Option 2: Front sprocket: 12 with Rear sprocket: 76 Paddock space is included in the Entry Fees. Competitors must indicate in the registration form the dimension of his equipment or indicate if they will share pit/tent space with others. Access to the facility will be available from 8:00 am on Wednesday, July 29 to move in and setup. Requests for earlier access should be indicated on the registration form. Paddock hours will be from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm. To tow vehicles will be permitted within the paddock. After the trailer is parked, the tow vehicle must be removed from the paddock and parked in designated areas. Competitors are responsible for the cleanliness of their paddock area, and all waste should be placed in designated containers. Failure to respect this rule may subject the competitor to a penalty. 21. Restricted Areas The racetrack infield, the perimeter of the track, the Pit Lane, Pre-Grid, Grid, Scale Area and Technical Inspection areas are restricted areas. Access to the Grid and Pit Lane is available only to participants when their class is running. One crewmember with a Mechanic s Pass is allowed on the Grid with each entry. A Hot Pit will not be used during practice, qualification sessions or races. Holders of Passes including team members and guests are entitled free access to the paddock and spectator areas only. 22. Quiet Rule Quiet Rule is in force for all classes as per ASN Canada Karting regulations Book 1, Regulation You may start and run your engine for one 10 second period (absolutely no rev ups) on the pre grid area prior to an on-track session. The Event Schedule may designate periods of silence when engines cannot be run at all. On the starting grid engines may be started and run when the official gives the 1 minute signal when karts are on the ground. Page 11

12 No engines are to be started or run in the Paddock, without specific prior permission from the Technical Director. The Quiet Rule applies for the entire Event, including the Thursday practice. Non respect of this quiet rule from the competitor and/or team members will result in penalty. 23. Driver Briefings Drivers must attend the driver briefing on any day when they are required to be on the racetrack. A presence control or role call may occur. The minimum fine for being late or missing the Driver Briefing is $ Number of Karts on the Race Track ASN Canadian Karting Regulations Book 1, Regulation A maximum of 34 karts will be allowed to start in any on-track session. The Event Organizers may alter the maximum number. 25. Procedure from Qualifying Session to Final Race Maximum 34 Karts a) Rotax DD2 Masters The entire Event Schedule for the Rotax DD2 Masters will be held on Friday, July 31 and consists of one Qualifying Session, 2 Qualifying Heats, and a Final. Qualifying: A 15 minute official Qualifying session will determine the starting grid for each of the 2 Qualifying Heats. In the event of a tie in Qualifying, the participant who set the time first will be deemed to have qualified ahead of the other participant. Qualifying Heats: The starting grid for each Qualification Heat will be the order of Qualifying. Points will be awarded according to finishing positions in the Qualification Heats. Position 1 will receive 0 point, position 2 will receive 2 points, position 3 will receive 3 points etc. The driver with the lowest point total will start on pole position in the Final. In the event of a tie in points, the driver with the faster qualification time will be scored ahead of the driver with the slower time. The results of the Pre final race will determine the starting grid of the final race. Final: The combined points results of the 2 Qualifying Heats will determine the starting grid of the Final race. 13 Only the results of the Final race will be taken in consideration for the podium and for the additional prizes. b) Other Rotax Classes The event will take place under the CIK procedure: Qualifying session, three qualifying heat races, a prefinal and a final race. Qualifying: Each class will have a 15 minute official Qualifying session to determine the starting grid for each of the 3 Qualifying Heats. Qualifying Heats: The starting grid for each Qualification Heat will be the order of Qualifying. Points will be awarded according to finishing positions in the Qualification Heats. Position 1 will receive 0 point, position 2 will receive 2 points, position 3 will receive 3 points etc. The driver with the lowest point total will start on pole position in the Pre Final. In the event of a tie in points, the driver with the faster qualification time will be scored ahead of the driver with the slower time. Pre-Final: The combined points results of the 3 Qualifying Heats will determine the starting grid of the Pre-Final race. The results of the Pre final race will determine the starting grid of the final race. Final: Only the results of the Final race will be taken in consideration for the podium and for the additional prizes. c) Briggs LO206 Classes The entire official Event Schedule for the Briggs LO206 classes will be held on Saturday, August 1 and consists of one Qualifying Session, 2 Qualifying Heats, and a Final. The Briggs LO206 classes will run under the same format as the Rotax DD2 Masters. 26. Procedure from Qualifying Session to Final Race More than 34 Karts In the case of a class having more than 34 entries, the Event Organizers will have the discretion to adjust the format in whatever manner is deemed appropriate. 14 One option may be for the top 28 drivers in the standings after the heats races to move directly to the pre final race. Others will have to race in a Second Chance race. Top 8 of the Second Chance Race will move to the pre final race. Drivers from position 11 and over in the Second Chance race will be eliminated. If a qualified driver cannot compete in the Pre Final, the next qualified finisher(s) from the Second Chance race will be invited to race in the Pre Final based on their order of finish. Two replacement drivers are allowed to participate in the Warm Up before the Pre Final. If qualified drivers cannot race in the Pre Final replacement drivers will be invited to join the Pre Final at the back of the grid. 27. Qualifying Procedures ASN Canadian Karting Regulations Book 1, Regulation Qualifying for a Race. For qualifying sessions, drivers will enter the track from pre-grid only on a first-come, first-served basis. A driver can join their designated qualifying session at any time prior to the checkered flag. Drivers must exit the track only through the designated weighing area. A driver may not leave the track and enter the pits, paddock or grid and return during a qualifying session. If a driver stops for any reason during a qualifying session the driver will be allowed one attempt to try and start again with or without assistance from race officials. A driver may not receive assistance from anyone other than an official of the event. 28. Transponders Each kart must be equipped with a transponder mounting bracket. The Event Organizer will not have transponders for rent. Neither the Event Organizer nor the Officials are responsible for any transponder failure during the event. Drivers must register their transponder number, on the entry form or at the latest the time of the onsite event registration. 29. Paint Sealing of Engines (Briggs Classes Only) All engines will be paint sealed before or after qualifying. It is the driver s responsibility to ensure that their engine has been paint sealed before leaving the tech area after qualifying. 30. 15 32. Procedure at the End of a Qualifying Session or Race ASN Canadian Karting Regulations Book 1, Regulation Procedure At The End of a Qualifying Session or Race. POST-RACE TECHNICAL INSPECTION. If requested by the Technical Officials, participants will proceed to the Parc Fermé and remain there until released by Technical Officials. 33. Procedure at the End of Finals ASN Canadian Karting Regulations Book 2, Regulation 6. POST-RACE TECHNICAL INSPECTION. The top five (5) finishers in each Final race in each class will proceed to the Parc Fermé and remain there until released by Technical Officials. 34. Official Notice Board The Official Notice Board is located adjacent to the entrance to the pre-grid area. 35. Fuel Spec fuel for the Event will be provided by the Event Organizer and will be available at the track, for all classes. 36. Podium Ceremonies Award winners must be present at the podium ceremony wearing their racing suits, closed and zipped, and bring their helmet. Event sponsor caps must be worn if requested by the Event Organizers. If a driver in unable to attend the podium ceremony for a good reason, he must inform the Steward before the ceremony. Failure to respect this procedure exposes the competitor to penalty. 37. Pre-Event Practice The Event is intended primarily for fun, and accordingly, the Event Organizers are discouraging preevent practice. Should participants wish to practice in advance of the Event, they are asked to contact the EDKRA President, Earl Wong at ewong@westgatechev.com with any inquiries. The track will be closed to all on-track activities from Monday to Wednesday prior to the Event. 38. Event Schedule The official Event Schedule is provided on Pages 15 through 18.
