1 YBARPB Softball rules 1.ALL PLAYERS ON THE ACTIVE ROSTER SHALL BAT. Players will bat in the same order throughout the entire game. Late arriving players may enter the game only at the end of the lineup. 2.There shall be FREE SUBSTITUTIONS throughout the game for all defensive players. 3.PITCHER AND CATCHER SUBSTITUTION.A manager may have a courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher at any time. The courtesy runner shall be the last batted out. 4.MUST PLAY RULE. No player may sit on the bench for two consecutive innings while their team is in the field unless the player is injured or ill. Players not starting defensively shall be in the starting defensive lineup the next game. 5.GAME TIMES. Games shall consist of six innings or one hour and fifteen minutes in length. No new inning may start after one hour and fifteen minutes. The home plate umpire shall be the official timekeeper a game shall be considered complete and legal if the time limit is reached regardless of the number of innings played. For Recreational play, the inning will be completed. 6.TIES. Regular season games may end in a tie at the end of the time limit or six innings of play. During League playoffs, the League shall utilize the international tiebreaker procedure to determine a winner. 7.LEAGUE ISSUED UNIFORMS must be worn as well as appropriate shoes, batting helmets with faceguards. Players should be encouraged to utilize mouth guards.

2 8.At the start of each half inning, the pitcher is entitled to five warm up pitches or one minute. It shall be the defensive team s obligation to provide a coach or another player to warm up their pitcher if the catcher is available. Players warming up the pitcher shall be required to wear a protective catcher s helmet. 9.PLAYOFFS. TBD 10.PITCHING DISTANCE. The pitching distance shall be 35 feet for 10 and under and 40 feet for 11U and over divisions. 11.USE OF PITCHERS. There are no limitations on the number of innings a pitcher may pitch. Notwithstanding, managers are responsible to assure that all players who express an interest to pitch are referred to the League approved pitching clinics or have demonstrated a certain level of proficiency. IF A PITCHER LABELED B HAS WALKED THREE CONSECUTIVE BATTERS, PITCHER A CAN REENTER THE GAME TO COMPLETE THE INNING. Each team will be required to use a minimum of 2 pitchers per game. If teams don t follow this pitching rule they will forfeit the game. Each pitcher will pitch a minimum of 1 inning. 12.No jewelry shall be aloud of fields at any time. General Each game will consist of 6 innings or 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. A new inning shall not start within 5 minutes of the expired time. Innings: 3 outs or 6 runs, whichever occurs first. 8u Coaches will pitch to their own team from within the circle at the pitcher s mound. All players will play every game. No player shall sit more than 1 inning in a row per game unless injured or illness. Every player in attendance will bat, regardless if they are

3 in the field that inning or not. 8u there is absolutely no stealing. You may take a lead, once the ball being has reached home plate; but you may not advance unless the ball has been hit. We will allow no more than 1 base on an overthrow at 1st or 3rd base. But not on over throws to pitcher s mound, however, you are advancing at your own risk. Runners will be allowed to advance at their own risk on any hit or play until 1 of the following has occurred: The runner has been called out due to a play by the defense Once the ball has been returned to the pitchers circle in the hands of the girl-playing pitcher and she has called TIME. If this occurs and the runner is at the halfway point or beyond to the next base, the runner will then be given the bag. If a defender has the ball and is in the base path between the lead runner and the next base, and calls TIME. If this occurs and the other runners are at the halfway point or beyond to the next base, the runner will then be given the bag. 8u batters will be given 5 pitches max or 3 strikes then the batter will be called out. If we have 6u eligibility age batters they will be given 5 pitches and then given the opportunity to swing off the Tee for 2 swings, after the 2 swings the batter will be called out. Defense The defensive lineup will consist of 10 players, no more than 4 outfielders, 1 of which may play what is called SHORT

4 FIELD in between 2nd base and centerfield. That is optional, not mandatory. No player shall sit more than 1 inning in a row We will permit 2 coaches to be positioned in the outfield to assist the girls if necessary, and 1 coach behind the catcher to help speed up the game. This coach may not interfere with a ball in play. Once the ball is pitched the coaches in the field will be directed to be quiet and let the play proceed. The Coach who is pitching will represent as a delivery of the ball not as a coach. Runners may be stopped in 1 of the following ways: the runner has been called out due to a play by the defense once the ball has been returned to the pitchers circle in the hands of the girl-playing pitcher and she has called TIME. If this occurs and the runner is at the halfway point or beyond to the next base, the runner will then be given the bag. If a defender has the ball and is in the base path between the lead runner and the next base, and calls TIME. If this occurs and the other runners are at the halfway point or beyond to the next base, the runner will then be given the bag. 10 AND UNDER Each game will consist of 6 innings or 1 hour and 15 minutes in length, drop dead (meaning, the game ends at 1 hr. and 15 mins. and we revert back to the last completed inning). Innings: 3 outs or 6 runs, whichever occurs first. Coaches will remain in or by the dugout while players are on defense. When players are on offense, 1 coach may occupy each of first and third base.
