1 Nicole Mattson Memorial Scholarship Softball Tournament Sponsored by the Rohnert Park Rebels and RPGSA Nicole Mattson was a senior at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park, CA when she was tragically taken from us in a fatal car accident on September 6, She lived with her parents Paul and Cindy, 14 year old sister Kendra and Lucky, the family beagle. Nicole started playing softball when she was five years old and over the years became one of her team's greatest pitchers. Nicole was also on the traveling softball tournament team the Rohnert Park Rebels and played for the Rancho Cotate High Cougars! Nicole was a great pitcher! She had a GPA of 3.0 in high school. Nicole also served as the statistician for Rancho's boys basketball and wrestling teams and loved to watch soccer, football and wrestling. Nicole left her heart print on her family, friends, teammates and so many of us in the community this is what inspires us to hold this annual event and to help keep her memory and her appreciation of sports alive!!! This is just one small thing our softball community does to help Nicole s family keep her memory alive and help other up and coming young athletes. The Mattson Family continues to be honored, thankful and appreciative of your participation! Remember all proceeds benefit the Nicole Mattson Memorial Scholarship Fund. 4 Nicole Mattson Memorial Tournament Rules 1. Rules will be 2014 ASA rules; except for Saturday Pool Play. You may bat up to 12 players. List as EH (EXTRA HITTER) on line up sheet. EH can hit & rotate on defense EH can go in for an injured person if there are no subs on the bench, EH s have to stay in the same order they started in and the injured person is dropped from the line up EH cannot not pinch run for any player. Sun Straight ASA 2. Re-entry; a player who has previously played, may re-enter the game for an injured player only, provided there are no other substitutes available. Pitcher/Catcher Courtesy runner will apply. 3. Proof of age is required and the burden lies with the manager if challenged. 4. All protests on rule interpretations will be determined by the umpire of the game at the point of protest and their decision is final. 5. A coin toss will determine home team at the start of each game on Sat. higher seed will be home team on Sun. 6. The team listed first will be in the third base dugout. 7. No new inning will start after 70 minutes of game time. Championship Games will be 7 innings with the exception of 10U, will be no new inning after 1 hour and 45 min. During single elimination round if there is a tie after time or 7 innings we will go to international tie breaker, the batter scheduled to bat 9 th that inning will start at 2 nd base. ALWAYS be ready to play 15 minutes sooner if tournament is running early. 8. No field usage for warm-ups 9. Mercy rule, if a team is ahead by 13 runs after 3 innings or 8 runs after 5 innings the game will end and the team leading will get the win 10.Seeding for Sunday will be based on wins and loses, if two teams have the same record, the first tie breaker will be head to head, then fewest runs allowed, then most runs scored, then coin toss. If more than two teams have the same record head to head will be bypassed 11.Lineups must be given to the umpire and other team before each game 12.Home team is the official scorebook. Final score MUST be reported by home team. Please bring to concession stand after each game.or home team will forfeit their game. 13.Each team is responsible to know where and when their game is. Game time is forfeit time. 14.Any player who has been rendered unconscious or seriously injured may not resume play without written consent of a physician 15. Please clean your dugouts after each game 16. No ALCOHOL at this event Special Rules for 10U division 1. You may use 10 players on the field (the extra player must be in the outfield) and in your batting order. 2. Dropped 3 rd Strike applies 3. Stealing home applies 4. There will be a 6 run per inning run limit, except for last inning 5. No new inning will start after 1 hour and 10 minutes. 6. Championship Game for 10U there will be no new inning after 1 hr 45 min. We will be enforcing STRONG SPORTSMAN, by COACHES, FANS and PLAYERS No Derogatory words or gestures to staff, opponents, officials or fans!

Our daughter, Nicole, played softball since she was 5 yrs old starting in t-ball. She played yearly on recreation league teams, high school J.V. and Varsity teams along with tournament teams up until she was taken from us as a passenger in a fatal car crash. No Alcohol, No Drugs, No Texting...just an inexperienced 18 yr old driver. Monies raised, goes into scholarships for high school senior athlete's who meet the criteria in Nicole's memory. It is a truly fun tournament to get the summer started. It is an awesome weekend!! Hope to see you and your team on the fields OR to just come and support this fun event!!
