2 CONTINENTAL AMATEUR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION U ULTIMATE WORLD SERIES 54 X 80 Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2008 CABA 14U Under League World Series. The CABA Baseball program will use the Pool-Play format in its World Series Tournament. Teams will be placed in pools where they will play a round robin within their pool {3 Games}. Each team will be guaranteed 6 games. An elimination championship tournament will be held for the teams following pool play. The exact format of the tournament, e.g., number of pools, number of teams in each pool, etc., will be set by the Tournament Director following CABA Baseball guidelines and being approved by the CABA Baseball National Committee. Your team s application and cashier s check or money order for the entry fee MUST BE RECEIVED AT TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS NO LATER THAN 5:00 pm on JULY 11 th. to be considered for a spot in the tournament. Your entry fee, in the amount of $600.00, should be made payable to: GLBL/CABA Tourney. SCHEDULES: Tentative schedules will be available on Thursday, July 17, after 4:00 pm. All teams are to be ready to play on Saturday, July 19th at 8:00 am. The official schedule will be given out at the managers meeting. Throughout the tournament, teams must be able to play any time during the day, including weekdays, starting at 8:00 am till 9:00 pm, and possibly later if weather affects the schedule. Schedule adjustments will not be made to accommodate teams that cannot participate during the daytime. 5 RULES All players participating in CABA Baseball tournament play shall have photocopies of their original birth certificates in the possession of their team manager. Failure to have a copy of the birth certificate available upon demand will result in the offending team losing the game, being ejected from the tournament, being placed last in the standings and forfeiting all awards, sponsors travel money and tournament berths that would have been awarded at the tournament. NOTE: 1. Any player who before May 1, reaches the next highest age classification, shall not be eligible to play in the lower age group. Example, a 17 yr. old cannot turn 18 before May 1 of the current year and be eligible to play in the 17 under age group, unless that Player is returning to High School. Be prepared to offer documentation. 2. Any player can play in a higher age classification, but cannot play in a lower age group. 3. All teams must have a representative present at the managers meeting. 4. All players must be fully uniformed, which includes the following: Pants, socks, cap, and team shirt with numbers that are non-duplicating and at least three inches in height. At least one uniform must have CABA World Series patch on the left sleeve of the uniform. 5. Managers and coaches must wear a baseball cap with team insignia and will be properly dressed. (Coaches may wear coaching shorts). 6. While in the field, as a defensive player, team caps must be worn. 7. Protest of uniforms will not be allowed. It shall be the Tournament Director s responsibility regarding uniform legality. Violation of the uniform rule will result in the violator being allowed to conform or be removed from the game. 8. A full-use batting helmet which covers the top and back of the head and the side of the face must be worn by every player while in the on-deck circle, when at bat and while on the bases. 9. All bat boys/girls will wear full-use batting helmets when their team is at bat. 10. The catcher must wear protective gear: Mask, chest protector, shin guards, protective cup, catcher s helmet and throat guard. Catchers must wear helmet that fully covers their ears. 11. All playing rules not specifically covered above are governed by the CABA World Series and Tournament Rules Baseball Handbook and the National League Rules for Major League Baseball.
