2 Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) Who is on the Bicycle Advisory Committee? Members of the public interested in bicycling Representatives from the Police Department, Public Works, and Community Services Why did we form? Formed in 2010 as working group for the preparation of the City s Bicycle Master Plan. What do we do? Evaluate ways to enhance bicycling in Yuba City. Recommend projects that will forward the implementation of the City s Bicycle Master Plan.

8 Three Feet for Safety Act Requires drivers to give those on bikes at least a 3-foot wide clearance when passing them on the road and the bike is traveling in same direction. When three feet is not possible, the motorist must slow to a reasonable and prudent speed and only pass when no danger is present to the bicyclist. Effective Sept. 16, 2014 California Vehicle Code 21750

9 Projects Completed Improved bike legends on Class II Bike Lanes throughout the City Added miles of Class III Bike Routes Introduced the concept of sharrows and installed 176 sharrows on various city streets

10 Projects Completed Developed a Bicycle Parking Cost-Share Program in which 72 bike racks were installed at several commercial establishments and City parks

11 Projects Completed Celebrated May is Bike Month Installed Class II Bike Lanes in accordance with Bicycle Master Plan at the following locations: Lassen Blvd.- Harter Parkway to Walton Avenue Lincoln Road- Karen Drive to Jones Road, Eastcrest Court to Garden Highway Butte House Road- Tharp Road to Madison Road Pease Road- Stabler Lane to Live Oak Boulevard Percy Avenue B Street to Main Street

12 Future Projects Install Class II Bike Lanes at the following locations: Butte House Road- Madison Road to Royo Ranchero Teegarden Avenue Shasta Street to Second Street Upgrade bike lane striping to reduce right-turn conflicts Develop and install destination signage to highlight popular riding destinations Install bicycle detection at major intersections Celebrate May is Bike Month 2015
