2 STRATEGIC PLAN OUR ROLE To support our Members and the cycling community by supplying a coordinated and strategic environment for the development of all cycling interests. We advocate for cycling whilst promoting the commercial and sport development opportunities of cycling, through Community Engagement. This is enabled by a Strategic Service Delivery model of centralised servicing and support. OUR ROLE IS NOT To govern individual sports or sporting organisations nor to deliver sports services directly. OUR COMMITMENT We will always hold the best interests of the Alliance and the cycling community at the heart of its decision making. We will always explore innovative and beneficial opportunities benefiting our members and the cycling community across the Northern Territory. We will act with professionalism, transparency and open communication in all our dealings. REVIEWING OUR STRATEGY Our strategic plan may be adjusted to take into account changing conditions or new opportunities. We will review our strategic plan annually with our members and stakeholders. Working together for an active lifestyle for all Territorians PEDALS NT STRATEGIES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUPPORTING SPORT Strengthening cycling s sport development pathways across all disciplines. 1.1 Link with cycling peak sporting bodies to assist in the education for coaches and officials. Assist Alliance members to develop coach and official pathways for each sport with clear linkages for joint training and personal development opportunities; Assist in the organisation of courses, education and accreditation requirements. 1.2 Link with cycling peak sporting bodies to assist in the development and delivery of athlete pathways. Develop participation pathways for recreational entry points, including integration of sport programs and initiatives such as BMX Mini Wheelers, Cycling Australia s Junior Ride Program and Cycling Australia s She Rides Program; Assist Alliance members to develop athlete pathways for each sport, with clear linkages for joint training and athlete development opportunities; Assist in the organisation of training and athlete education opportunities.

4 VISION AND STRATEGY SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY Engaging with the cycling and wider NT community about cyclist safety, to develop an understanding about the personal, social and economic benefits, impacts and opportunities in cycling. 1.3 Develop a set of guiding principles for advocacy including alignment to National organisations Understand and network with the advocay based National Bodies such as the Amy Gillette Foundation and Bicycle Network; Develop key messages and an advocacy framework; Link into key Government and Town Council working groups enabling the cycling voice to be heard in transport. 1.4 Promote broad community education around cycling Develop a MoU with the Department of Transport s Road Safety Education Program around a combined delivery model; Link the education program to Member participation and athlete pathways; Link with the City of Darwin to develop the deliverables of the Darwin Bike Plan. 1.5 Promote the wide ranging benefits and opportunities of cycling across a range sectors Develop unique collateral and marketing material demonstrating the benefits of cycling for health, tourism, economic development, sport and recreation; Activey promote the positive links between cycling and an active lifestyle; Advocate for a Learn to Ride Voucher.

5 VISION AND STRATEGY STRATEGIC SERVICE DELIVERY ENABLING DELIVERY Providing a centralised hub for the delivery of core services enabling effective engagement with the community. 2.1 Develop a centralised administration model that supports the cycling community enabling effective community engagement, volunteer support and governance compliance. 2.2 Develop a marketing and communication plan to enable community engagement. 2.3 Create a brand that represents the values and vision of the organisaion, which develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support commercialisation. 2.4 Develop a commercial model to ensure long term sustainability and viability outside of Government funding. 2.5 Develop event management processes and protocol s to support events across the cycling community to ensure the organisations brand and values are reflected to the wider community.
