1 6 th GATSBY DANCE COMPETITON PHILIPPINE FINALS 2013 GENERAL MECHANICS This competition is open to all student dancers in the Philippines. The competition will have the following categories and participation requirements: CATEGORY 1: OPEN COLLEGE DIVISION 1. Open to all Filipino students enrolled in a College, University, and any Institution of higher learning including Technical-Vocational institutions for the school year in the Philippines. 2. Minimum of one (1) and maximum of (3) members. 3. Members of the group may come from different schools as long as all members are bonafide college students. 4. Age requirement: 16 to 22 years old on the day of the competition. CATEGORY 2: COLLEGE CREW DIVISION 1. Open to all students enrolled in a College, University, and any Institution of higher learning including Technical-Vocational institutions for the school year in the Philippines. 2. Minimum of four (4) and maximum of sixteen (16) members. 3. All members of the group should be enrolled in one (1) school only. 4. Age Requirement: 16 to 22 years old on the day of the competition. 5. A school may be represented by two (2) or more groups.

2 PRE-SELECTION: DANCE VIDEO SUBMISSION Interested participants of all categories must submit a dance video before qualifying to the Philippine Finals: 1. Dance routine shall not exceed two (2) minutes. 2. Performance where hairstyles cannot be seen due to wearing of head gears (i.e. caps, bandanas, etc.) will be disqualified. 3. The video must be a one-shot take. Strictly no video editing or enhancement during the dance routine. 4. Existing past performance video or concept-video are not allowed. 5. Videos submitted must be of decent and clear quality. 6. Participants are allowed to use their own music for Pre-Selection and Philippine Finals. Dance Videos submission process: 1. Upload the video on YouTube and send the video link to gatsbydanceph@gmail.com along with the other requirements. 2. Deadline of video submission is on August 31, 2013 along with the other required documents. 3. Qualified videos will be screened & scored and posted on for online voting. DANCE VIDEO SCREENING: A Panel of judges will screen and score all the qualified videos. Videos will be judged according to the following criteria: CRITERIA PERCENTAGE DESCRIPTION Dance technique & Mastery of Style 30% Display of precision and exactness in execution of chosen dance style Creativity & Originality 30% Achievement of creative and original choreography that creates interest in the performance. Coordination (group); Showmanship (Solo) 30% Achievement of proper timing and coordinated movements and elements (group); Ability to carry a solo performance while leaving a strong impact (solo) G-factor 10% Physical Presentation of the group (hairstyle, attire, fashion) and appeal to audience. SCREENING RESULTS Only the following will be qualified to move on to the Philippine Finals : OPEN COLLEGE DIVISION: Top nine (9) entries with the highest score after the video screening and One (1) Winning entry from the online voting entry with the most number of votes. Total of 10 qualified groups. COLLEGE CREW CREW DIVISION: Top nine(9) entries with the highest score after the video screening and One (1) Winning entry from the online voting entry with the most number of votes. Total of ten (10) qualified groups.

3 REQUIRED DOCUMENTS OPEN COLLEGE DIVISION 1. Accomplished registration form and waiver 2. Scanned copy or photocopy of Birth Certificate 3. Scanned copy or photocopy of School ID 4. Scanned copy or photocopy of school enrolment or registration form 5. Group logo or photo 6. Group write up, maximum of 100 words COLLEGE CREW DIVISION 1. Accomplished registration form and waiver 2. Scanned copy or photocopy of Birth Certificate 3. Scanned copy or photocopy of School ID 4. Scanned copy or photocopy of school enrolment or registration form 5. Group s official endorsement letter from the school 6. Group logo or photo 7. Group write up, maximum of 100 words Requirements may be submitted via at gastbydanceph@gmail.com or sent directly at the Acts Dance & Arts Academy, Mezzanine Floor GA Tower1 EDSA-Boni Mandaluyong City. ALL Requirements should be passed together with the video. Groups with incomplete requirements will not be qualified for Pre-Selection.

Music Music length must be a maximum of three (3) minutes. Time of the routine begins with the first audible sound and ends with the last audible sound. Participants are allowed to use and mix their own music for the Philippine Finals. Winning team for the Open College Division will have to use the music provided by GATSBY for the Asia Finals. Costume Wearing any kind of headgear that will cover the dancers hairstyle is strictly not allowed Props Using huge props is not allowed. Small hand held props such as scarf, handkerchiefs, etc. can be used as long as these are considered part of the costume.

5 PRIZES OPEN COLLEGE DIVISION: Champion (The Greatest GATSBY Award) Represent Philippines in GATSBY Dance Competition Asia Finals 2014 (Japan) All expenses paid trip to Japan Php 30, Cash 1 st Runner Up (The Great Gatsby Award) Php 15, nd Runner Up (The Gatsby Award) Php 10, COLLEGE CREW DIVISION Champion (The Greatest GATSBY Award) Php 50, Cash 1 st Runner Up (The Great Gatsby Award) Php 25, nd Runner Up (The Gatsby Award) Php 10,000.00
