2 PASSION Rockstar Cheer is one of the most successful athletic programs of its type in the country. Entering our 11th season, Rockstar has 17 locations, over 300 National Titles, and 6 World Championship Medals (Three Silver & Three Bronze). For our Non-Worlds teams, reaching the end of the year Summit Championships is one of the hardest achievements in our sport. In this season alone, Rockstar sent 35 teams to The Summit, which is highly impressive considering only 1% of the cheer industry s teams make it to The Summit each season. Recognized as one of the top programs in the entire country, Rockstar has a reputation for success and innovation at every age group and level. This success could not be achieved without an amazing staff. The passion and talent level of our athletes make this one of the most sought-after places to work in cheer & dance. While pushing our athletes to be the very best, we take pride in offering the safest environment possible. Our energetic, mature and experienced USASF certified coaches are passionate and professional about their jobs. From the moment you join, you will experience the difference and enjoy the Rockstar treatment! The most direct way that we help the athletes in our program is by improving their skills and helping them reach their athletic potential, but we also believe our program serves a higher purpose. Throughout their lives, everyone will be put in situations where they must work together with others to achieve common goals. Life lessons that improve work ethic, responsibility, accountability and teamwork help build character. No other sport builds self-esteem for youth better than all-star cheerleading. The hours, weeks, months, even years of work that go into perfecting stunts, tumbling, jumps, and motions will improve your fitness and skills. More importantly, athletes learn about sportsmanship, working together towards a common goal, and striving to win. Besides the success of our program on the mat, we are most proud of the life skills and enhanced character qualities that we have been able to give to the athletes at Rockstar Cheer! Rockstar Cheer will develop competitive teams for the upcoming competition year. This packet is designed to give an overview of our program. We hope you find this information comprehensive and valuable in making your choice to rock with us in the season!

3 When you tryout at Rockstar, you are accepting a spot in the Rockstar program. Rockstar is a family of teams; therefore, we run our teams as one program-one family. We choose our teams so the program comes first, the team comes second, and the individual third. CONFIDENCE We would love for each team to have a full squad of athletes with the maximum tumbling and stunting skills allowed for that level. Unfortunately, that is not the reality in some instances. For example, while your athlete may be a Level 4 tumbler, this doesn t equate being placed on a Level 4 team. Your athlete may not be a level 4 jumper, stunter or dancer. We must choose our teams according to bases, backspots and flyers, which make up the stunt groups. All teams must have stunt group combinations that will give each team the ability to be successful. On the flip side, we need many athletes on the team to have high end and perfected level appropriate tumbling. Balance is key in creating our teams, and we make every effort to make sure all of our teams are set up to give them the best opportunity to do well. At Rockstar, our instructors teach PERFECTION before PROGRESSION. This approach has allowed us to be very successful on the National Level. We make our practices and competitions fun, rewarding, and productive. We create a positive learning environment at Rockstar. We push the athletes to be the best they can be. We set goals as a team and individuals while teaching accountability. We expect our athletes to improve their technique and progress their skills through efficient practices. We want everyone to achieve Rockstar status! One of the most wonderful advancements in the sport of All Star Cheerleading is the development of level competition. We have teams for all ages and ability levels. Prior experience in cheerleading and/or tumbling are not required - We pride ourselves on the level of instruction we provide to bring our athletes up to speed quickly and safely. We do require all athletes, families and fans to act with integrity and respect. Athletes are expected to attend all practices and competitions, giving 110% every day. As long as you have a positive attitude, respect yourself and others, try your best, attend practice and performances, and are ready to have a great time, you meet the requirements to be a part of the Rockstar Family!!!

Perfection Maximum Athletes are expected to execute their routine elements with a high level of perfection in all areas of cheer Athletes look, perform, and feel their best when they have mastered and perfected skills prior to the start of the competition season for the level they are placed in and can fully contribute to their team. Judges will only score routines well that display a high level of difficulty, mastery and perfection of the level in which the team is competing. Therefore, we aim to place athletes at a level where they have already mastered and perfected skills within the level prior to team placements for both the athlete and the team s well being.

5 We will have an open house for new and returning members to check out our gym and chat with the staff to address any questions that they may have for the upcoming season. Open gym will be held at the same time for athletes to work on their skills for the upcoming tryout. If you can t make the open house, that s ok! Please feel free to contact us at any time regarding your future with Rockstar Cleveland! STRENGTH Open House and Open Gym Saturday May 13 Team Placement Schedule Date Event Time Saturday May 13 Open House/Gym 12-1:30 PM Friday May 19 Group Evaluations 5:30-8:00 PM Saturday May 20 Group Evaluations 12:00-2:30 PM Sunday May 21 Callbacks 9:00-5:00 PM Group Evaluations Athletes can attend one or both of the group evaluations to learn dance material and work on their tumbling and fitness skills for team placements, however the team placement fee is the same regardless of whether they attend both. Athletes are encouraged to attend both sessions. Our evaluation process is designed to place minimal stress on our athletes, giving them the opportunity to perform their best! Coaches will complete evaluations forms as the athletes practice and perform their skills in a group, similar to a team practice. These evaluations forms provide our coaches with an idea of what level the athlete will perform best at and have a successful year while still being challenged. On Saturday after group evaluations, athletes will receive a time to return on Sunday. These times will be in blocks of 1-2 hours, and athletes may be asked to come to more than one block of time. During this time we will tumble together as a group and stunt. This will help us to see how athletes work together in a team setting with athletes of similar age and ability levels. Team Placement Results Callbacks Teams will be selected by the Rockstar coaching staff and s will be sent out to athletes on Monday evening, May 22. Our summer tumbling and team practice schedule will also be posted at that time. Finalization of teams During the first two weeks in June, we will finalize our teams. We feel we need a few weeks to work with the teams as selected to make sure everyone is placed where they need to be. Please note that team placement is not final and can change throughout the season at the discretion of the Rockstar coaching staff due to changes in skill level or needs of the program. WHAT If I can T come To Team Placements? If you cannot make team placements, no worries! Please contact the front desk at info@rockstarcleveland.com to set up a private evaluation time prior to Sunday, May 21 to make sure you reserve your position as a Rockstar!

6 Summer Practice schedule: June 5 Through August 26 Each team will practice twice per week during the summer. Both practices will be on weeknights. There are no weekend practices during the months of June - August, with the exception of choreography dates. Each team will practice1-3 hours at a time, twice per week, depending on level and age. We make every effort to keep our practice times on weekday evenings between the hours of 4 and 9pm. Summer gym closings are listed on page 12, if you could please try and schedule vacations during this time that would be most helpful to your athlete and team s development and progress. School Year Practice schedule: August 27 through may 3 Each team will practice twice per week during the school year, 1-3 hours at a time, depending on level and age. One practice will be on the weekend and the other will be on a weekday evening. Traditionally, the weekend day of practice has been on Sunday afternoon/evening, however with the growth of our program some teams may be practicing on Saturday this year. We make every effort to keep our practice times on weekday evenings between the hours of 5 and 9pm. The fall team practice and tumbling class schedule will be posted at the end of July. Practice is mandatory There is no bench in All Star Cheerleading! Every single athlete is important to our program and an integral part of our choreography. Having even one athlete missing from practice can severely impact the productivity. Please take this into consideration when asking for your athlete to be excused from practice. Attendance is one of the most important factors in our team's success. During the summer, attendance is required when you are in town. Please fill out absence forms located at the front desk to let us know when your vacations are. Throughout the school year, the only excused absences will be for a family emergency, contagious illness, or school function for a grade. Please fill out an absence form for all expected absences, excused or unexcused. An occasional absence from your athlete is understood, however if at any time an athlete's attendance is hindering the progress and success of the team, our staff will contact you to discuss possible solutions which may include moving to a different team, change in choreography, or removal from our program. PRACTICE DIRECTLY PRECEDING COMPETITION IS ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY, NO EXCEPTIONS! Dedicated tumbling time We have an hour of dedicated tumbling time for all of our athletes included in tuition at Rockstar Cleveland! This is a huge benefit to our program, and allows our athletes to progress their tumbling at their own pace regardless of the level of their current team placement. This is also how we are able to move athletes to the next level. An athlete on a level 2 team that has mastered their level 2 tumbling will be placed in a level 3 class so that they can work on their level 3 skills without the pressure of having to perform them in a routine. Tumbling classes are mandatory and are offered at several times per level throughout the week. Please choose and attend the class that is most convenient for you and your athlete. Recognition

The more time an athlete spends in the gym, the faster they will progress! Thrill Summer Tumbling Camp Summer tumbling camp is required for all team athletes. A staff member from Rockstar Greenville (Rockstar s first and main location) will be on site for each tumbling camp. This will ensure our Rockstar Cleveland athletes get the best instruction and progress as quickly as possible as we prepare for our upcoming competition season. You don t want to miss these camps! We will offer tumbling camp two different weeks during the summer. A full week concentrated on tumbling sends our athletes to new heights! Therefore, for the benefit of our athletes and our teams, it is mandatory that each team athlete attends one of the two weeks of tumbling camp. One week of tumbling camp is included in your tuition. Full year team members can attend both weeks for only $50 additional per athlete. This is a great opportunity to focus on tumbling, perfect existing skills, and gain new ones! 8 Choreography Philosophy Rockstar is known for its clean and innovative choreography. We have received several awards and national recognition, for our routines as well as prestigious bids to year end events such as Summit and Worlds. We take pride in our ability to put difficult and visual routines on the floor. We start with routines from choreography professionals, then modify what we are given to suit our athlete's strengths and weaknesses. Our choreography is in constant motion - as the season progresses we modify our routine to reflect our athletes ability, constantly challenging them with ways to improve their score. Safety always comes first, and we do not compromise the health and well being of our athletes for any reason. July October 6-8 January TBD Choreography IS MANDATORY There is simply no replacing the time we have with our choreographers. Please schedule all vacations and other activities around our choreography time blocks. If an event has already been scheduled that absolutely cannot be worked around, please let us know during team sign up week. If you let us know during team signup week, we can arrange for an alternate to be available for your athlete during choreography. We contract the best choreographers in the country. Their time is very valuable to us, and they cannot do their best creative work with athletes missing. If you do not attend a choreography session and did not let us know of a conflict when you signed up, you will be immediately dismissed from the team without refund. THE ONLY EXCUSED ABSENCE FROM CHOREOGRAPHY WILL BE OUT OF TOWN PLANS MADE PRIOR TO TEAM PLACEMENTS. ANY ATHLETE MISSING CHOREOGRAPHY WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM GYM OWNER WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE TEAM WITHOUT REFUND. Choreography Schedule Routine Choreography Dance choreography Routine Revision/cleanup This season, we will be using the Rockstar choreography team, for all of our teams and routine components with the possible exception of our mini/youth age level 1 teams which may be choreographed in house. Each team can expect to spend approximately hours over 3 days during routine choreography, 6-8 hours over 2 days for dance choreography, and 5-8 hours over 2 days for Routine Revision/Cleanup. Please schedule all vacations and other activities around these dates. Exact days and times of choreography for each team will be available mid June. Stunt Clinic at Rockstar Cleveland Friday August 18 - Sunday August 20 We have an exciting experience planned for our athletes that will set us on the fast track in obtaining skills for the upcoming competition season! Scott Foster, owner of Rockstar Cheer and Coach of the Beatles and Rolling Stones will be visiting us to put on a stunt clinic along with Kennedy Thames! Inspiration This is an amazing opportunity for our athletes - not only will they receive concentrated training by one of the best coaches in the country, they will meet and work together with a level 5 athlete in the Rockstar family and share a fun team bonding experience they are sure to never forget! THIS CLINIC IS MANDATORY FOR ALL STAR TEAM ATHLETES AND IS INCLUDED IN YOUR TUITION

9 Competition philosophy Rockstar is one of the top competitive programs in the country. To achieve excellence in our athletes, instead of focusing on 1st place, we will focus on building qualities that make a 1st place squad. It is our philosophy that as long as we are dedicated, working hard to the best of our ability and improving, we have already won without stepping a foot onto the performance floor. We are a very disciplined program and intend to stay that way - we aim to attract families and athletes who value dedication, preparedness, hard work and commitment. All athletes are expected to attend competitions on time and will stay for their awards ceremony. From team meeting time through end of awards ceremony, athletes can expect to be at competitions approximately three to five hours per team. Please leave the entire day open for competitions, we will publish our program's schedule a few days prior to the event. Competitions are mandatory There are no excused absences for competition. If an event has already been scheduled that absolutely cannot be worked around, please let us know by August 31. If you let us know by August 31, we can arrange for an alternate to be available for your athlete during that competition. If you do not attend a competition and did not let us know of a conflict by August 31, we will do what we can to work out the situation, but please know that this may involve choreographing your athlete out of the routine for more than one competition, if not the remainder of the season. No refunds will be given for athletes choreographed out of the routine for competition absences for any reason. Local Teams and Travel teams Traditionally, our younger lower level teams travel less, and our older higher level teams travel more. Please note that there is absolutely no difference in the quality of training or performance expectations. Both State and National teams will utilize the same choreography team, and we will select all of our teams to be highly competitive. The only difference is how much the team will travel. We are excited to offer this option for families who want to rock with us but do not want to travel as much, and offer more travel opportunities for those families that do. Sample competition schedule Below is a sample competition schedule, please note that competition dates and bid events have not been finalized. Athletes are required to spend the night prior to a competition that is more than 2 hours driving distance from the gym (Cincinnati, Nashville, Detroit, Orlando) within 30 minutes of the competition venue.
