Please conduct yourself on the field in a sporting and courteous manner. Play the game competitively, but always show respect to the opposition and to the match officials. Sledging and dissent are unacceptable. 2. Please respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion. 3. Remember that you are guests of clubs that host the matches. Ensure that you use facilities properly and, for example, always leave the changing rooms in a tidy condition. 4. Whites must be worn at all times during the hours of play. Appropriate cricket training clothing may be worn for pre-match practice as agreed with your manager. 5. It is important that, if selected for a match, that you contact your manager immediately if you are injured, unwell or think you may not be able to play. Do not hesitate; it is vital that the manager knows immediately that you may be doubtful. 6. You are responsible for making arrangements to travel to matches, though your manager will help organise those who have transport problems. 7. Please show this to your parents. 8. Most of all - Enjoy Your Cricket. Please ensure that your Players, Coaches & Managers are aware of this Code of Conduct 5

6 KWIK RULES 2017 Kwik is intended as an introduction to cricket for very young boys and girls and whilst it is recognised that cricket is a competitive game the prime purpose of Kwik is that children in safety can enjoy the game without too much pressure. So play to win YES but be aware that the real competitive edge is best reserved for the Hardball games. For 2017 the matches will be played on a NON-League basis ie Festivals on Friday Evenings. Evenings rained off may be replayed. End date for this competition is Aug The Competition is open to any member Club and will be administered by Cricket Erewash Management Committee. 2. A subscription of 12 will be levied for each age group entered. 3. Teams will consist of 8 players. Boys - born on or after will be eligible for this competition Girls - born on or after will be eligible for this competition. Note! It is the responsibility of the team manager to establish if a player is the correct age. Guidance Notes for Team Managers/Coaches. County u10 and u11 hardball players are barred from this competition! Established u11 hardball players MUST NOT be used for this competition. (Guidance note! 4 matches max at Hardball to constitute established hardball player. ) Kwik Competitions are to introduce young players to cricket. Intimidation of young players by older or more competent players MUST not be permitted. 4 The pitch to be 16 yards long. An extra line (called a pitching line) is to be marked across the pitch 8 yards from each end. The minimum recommended boundary is 20 yards. 5 Start Time 6pm if possible, 6.15pm latest. 6 The Host club is the organiser at their venue and the Result Sheet fully completed must be mailed or ed to the Under 11 Co-ordinator as soon as possible after the matches have taken place. (kwik@cricketerewash.org.uk) 7. Matches will consist of one 8 over innings per side. The decision to bat first is to be decided by the toss of a coin. a. Batting Players will bat in pairs. Each pair will face two overs regardless of how many times they are dismissed. Batsmen will change ends so that any dismissed batsman does not face the next delivery. All normal ways of dismissal except L.B.W. will apply. Note! Each team must provide an umpire (who may give advice) and a scorer. Umpires must ensure that strikers do not face the next ball after being dismissed. The Umpires decision is final. b. Bowling Each player will bowl one six ball over with over arm action. No ball must be called if the ball does not pitch over the pitching line OR passes without pitching (or would have passed without pitching) above waist height of the batsman standing upright in his/her normal stance position irrespective of whether the ball is struck or is out of reach of the batsman. 6

7 Note! Either umpire may call the No-ball Wide ball - will be called if the striker stands no chance of moving to strike the ball or the ball pitches and rises above head height. Note! Bowler s end Umpire only may call the Wide Ball c. Fielding No fielder is to stand closer than 11 yards from the striker Notes! Underarm bowling will be allowed at the Umpires discretion. Umpires should use their discretion to decide if a delivery is unplayable. Bowling may take place from one end only. A delivery cannot be called wide if the striker hits the ball. 8. Scoring - Teams will start with 100 runs. Scoring will be as in normal cricket: - except 5 runs will be deducted for each dismissal. A Wide or No-ball counts as 2 runs and is not rebowled in the first 7 overs of each innings. In the 8 th over of each innings each wide or no-ball is to be re-bowled but no penalty runs are to be awarded. All additional runs or extras scored will be added to the penalty. E.g.: - a wide ball which crosses the boundary will count as 6 runs two for the penalty and four for the boundary and a no ball hit clear of the boundary will count 8 runs two for the penalty and six for the boundary except in the last over when the 2 run penalty is not awarded. Note! Scorers should acknowledge all the umpires signals. Umpires and scorers should consult if there is any doubt as to the number of runs awarded by the umpire. 9 Result - The team scoring the most runs after deductions will be the winner. If tied, the team taking most wickets will be the winner. If still tied the team scoring most runs with the bat will be the winner. Each team manager is to confirm all results with the Home Club Organiser. 10. Misconduct, infringement of any rule, interpretation of any rule, or any other matter not provided for within these rules, to be dealt with by the Management Committee of Cricket Erewash whose decision will be final. 11 Away teams must take 1 complete set of Kwik kit (Stumps bats ball) to ALL AWAY matches. (To ensure that the host club has sufficient kit to stage the matches) 12 Make up team is any 8 spare players from all the teams present. Host Club organiser to implement. 7
