For example if a Team A is bowled out or declares after 40 overs Team B batting second can utilise the remaining 10 overs plus their own 50 for a total of 60 batting overs. If the Team bowling first fails to bowl 50 overs in the allotted time they ONLY receive that same amount of overs when batting. On the second day, the last hour of play commences at 10.45am and a minimum of 16 overs are then to be bowled by 11.45am. Play will otherwise conclude at 11.45am. If the minimum of 16 overs are not bowled by 11.45am, then penalties can apply at the rate of 0.25 points per over not bowled. Time lost during play due to weather conditions If rained out on the first Saturday then a One Day game is to be played on the second Saturday as per One day rules. For games scheduled on turf only, if, in the first week of a round, weather does not permit play to be scheduled, play may be transferred to an alternate vacant turf or synthetic pitch. This must be done by 7pm the day prior to play and be ratified by the LDCA Junior Coordinator. Both days play must be completed at the new venue. If use of the alternate venue is needed for two or more "washed out" games a team from the club providing the venue will be given preference. (This rule may only be used if 50% or more of the games for the round can be completed). Logan District Cricket Association Junior RulesVersion September 2016 Page 13
14 For games scheduled on turf only, if, in the second week of a game, weather does not permit play to be scheduled, and there has been no play on day one, play may be transferred to an alternate vacant turf or synthetic pitch. This must be done by 7pm the day prior to play and be ratified by the LDCA Junior Coordinator. If use of the alternate venue is needed for two or more "washed out" games a team from the club providing the venue will be given preference. (This rule may only be used if 50% or more of the games for the round can be completed). The venue for games scheduled to be played on synthetic pitches cannot be changed without the permission of the LDCA Junior Delegates meeting. 5.9 T20 Matches Free Hit after a Foot Fault No Ball The delivery following a No ball called for a foot fault shall be a free hit for whichever batter is facing it. If the delivery for the free hit is not a legitimate delivery (any kind of No ball or a Wide ball), then the next delivery will become a free hit for whichever batter is facing it. For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the circumstances that apply for a No ball, even if the delivery for the free hit is called Wide ball. Field changes are not permitted for free hit deliveries. If a foot fault No Ball is bowled on the last ball of an over, an additional ball shall be bowled by the same bowler. Wide Bowling Any delivery that in the opinion of the umpire does not offer the batter a reasonable opportunity to strike the ball shall be called Wide. Overs per Bowler Each bowler may bowl no more than 4 overs Maximum Balls per Over No more than 8 balls per over shall be bowled including wides and no balls Minimum Overs Each team must have the opportunity to face at least 8 overs to constitute a match Follow on Deficit required to ask the batting team to follow on is 75 RUNS for two day games. 16 7 FINALS Finals will only be played in Division 1 and 2. Finals will be played on the designated finals weekend, or in the case of a total washout, be moved to the Alternate weekend at the discretion of the junior coordinator. The District Executive will have the final decision on, if and at what venue a final shall be played unless, in the case of a turf pitch, a venue is pronounced unfit for play by a groundsman. Should a team not be present at the scheduled start time of a final at the venue specified by the District Executive that team will be regarded as forfeiting the match with the win being given to the remaining team. If both teams forfeit then the team finishing on top of the points table for that division will be the premiers. It will be the responsibility of the District to provide a venue and alternate venue for the finals match. Clubs will make grounds available for the final at the request of the District. Finals will be played between the first and second placed teams on the point s ladder for Division 1 and 2. Players are not eligible to play in a final unless they have played a minimum of 5 games during the season for that team. Finals will be a two day game played on the Saturday and Sunday of the finals weekend. Should the first day be cancelled due to weather the final shall be reduced to a one day match on the second day under the one day rules. Should the second day of a two day game be washed out then the entire match will be considered a wash out. This will apply unless both teams have faced at least 25 overs on the first day of play in which case the winning team will be decided by the best run rate. Should the all finals matches be washed out then the winning team will be chosen on points or in the event of equal points best run rate Finals will be played at Dauth Park, Eagleby or Beaudesert premier turf pitches. 9 TROPHIES AND AWARDS Premiers in each competitive division will be determined by the team that wins the designated final or the team finishing on top of the ladder in MyCricket (should finals not be played) using total points, wickets and runs (for and against) and run rate. The Premiers will receive a shield and Premiership Medals (for each player) from the Logan District Cricket Association. Beaudesert will organise and pay for their clubs district medallions and trophies and their half of any umpire fees for finals. The Association will organise medallions for the other clubs. The association will pay the costs of no more than $15 a trophy. Club contacts will be advised when the trophies\awards are ready for collection. District Shields and Cups for all grades\teams will be engraved by Logan any engraving for Beaudesert Teams will be paid by Beaudesert but arranged by LDCA. 10 JUNIOR FEES The District Executive have set the 2016\17 team fees as follows: Division Division 1 3 $175 Division 4 $110 Fee (Inc GST) per team 8 DISTRICT POINTS Clubs are to ensure that player points and statistics are ready to be presented to the first District meeting after the finals round is played. 17 11 APPENDIX A GUIDE TO SELECTED COMMON LAWS OF CRICKET This section contains a summary of some of the common laws of crocket for assistance with Scoring and Umpiring. It is not a substitute for the full law and umpires\scorers should familiarise themselves with the full version of all cricket laws Ball Bouncing More than twice or rolling along the ground (Law 24.7) The umpire shall call and signal No ball if a ball which he considers to have been delivered, without having previously touched bat or person of the striker: Either (i) bounces more than twice Or (ii) Rolls along the ground before it reaches the popping crease Scoring Notes Wides (Law 25.6) No Bye or run/wide signalled - 1 Wide Scored 1 Bye or run/wide signalled- 2 Wides Scored 2 Byes or run/wide signalled - 3 Wides Scored 3 Byes or run/wide signalled - 4 Wides Scored Boundary/wide signalled - 5 Wides Scored 11.3 Scoring Notes No Balls (Law 24.14) Occurrences No Balls Runs to batsman No ball signal No Ball and 1 Run hit No Ball and 1 BYE No Ball and ball crosses the boundary hit by batsman No Ball and ball crosses the boundary not hit by batsman 1 to No ball 1 to No Ball 2 to No Ball 5 to No Ball 5 to No Ball No Balls are recorded against the bowler s figures If the ball, delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball or a Wide, passes the striker without touching his bat or person, any runs completed by the batsmen from that delivery, or a boundary allowance, shall be credited as Byes to the batting side No Balls (Law 24) 1. Mode of delivery (a) The umpire shall ascertain whether the bowler intends to bowl right handed or left handed, over or round the wicket, and shall so inform the striker. It is unfair if the bowler fails to notify the umpire of a change in his mode of delivery. In this case the umpire shall call and signal No ball. (b) Underarm bowling shall not be permitted except by special agreement before the match. 2. Fair delivery - the arm For a delivery to be fair in respect of the arm the ball must not be thrown. (a) If, in the opinion of either umpire, the ball has been thrown, he shall call and signal No ball. 3. Definition of fair delivery - the arm A ball is fairly delivered in respect of the arm if, once the bowler s arm has reached the level of the shoulder in the delivery swing, the elbow joint is not straightened partially or completely from that point until the ball has left the hand. This definition shall not debar a bowler from flexing or rotating the wrist in the delivery swing. 4. Bowler throwing towards striker s end before delivery If the bowler throws the ball towards the striker s end before entering his delivery stride, either umpire shall call and signal No ball. See Law (Batsmen stealing a run). However, the procedure stated in 2 above of caution, informing, final warning, action against the bowler and reporting shall not apply. 5. Fair delivery - the feet For a delivery to be fair in respect of the feet, in the delivery stride, (a) The bowler s back foot must land within and not touching the return crease appertaining to his stated mode of delivery. (b) The bowler s front foot must land with some part of the foot, whether grounded or raised (i) On the same side of the imaginary line joining the two middle stumps as the return crease described in (a) above and (ii) behind the popping crease. If the bowler s end umpire is not satisfied that all of these three conditions have been met, he shall call and signal No ball. 6. Bowler breaking wicket in delivering ball Either umpire shall call and signal No ball if, other than in an attempt to run out the non-striker under Law 42.15, the bowler breaks the wicket at any time after the ball comes into play and before he completes the stride after the delivery stride. See Appendix D. Laws 23.4(b) (viii), 23.4(b) (ix) and 10 below will apply. 8. Ball coming to rest in front of striker s wicket If a ball delivered by the bowler comes to rest in front of the line of the striker s wicket, without having previously touched the bat or person of the striker, the umpire shall call and signal No ball and immediately call and signal Dead ball. Logan District Cricket Association Junior RulesVersion September 2016 Page 17
18 9. Call of No ball for infringement of other Laws In addition to the instances above, No ball is to be called and signalled as required by the following Laws. Law Position of wicket-keeper Law Limitation of on side fielders Law Fielders not to encroach on pitch Law Dangerous and unfair bowling Law Dangerous and unfair bowling - action by the umpire Law Deliberate bowling of high full pitched balls 11. No ball to over-ride Wide A call of No ball shall over-ride the call of Wide ball at any time. See Laws 25.1(Judging a Wide) and 25.3 (Call and signal of Wide ball). 12. Ball not dead The ball does not become dead on the call of No ball LBW (Law 36) For a batsman in a cricket match to be given out leg before wicket (LBW) a strict set of rules apply, to do with where the ball has struck the pitch and then hit the batsman s pad. This figure takes you through all the possibilities. Logan District Cricket Association Junior RulesVersion September 2016 Page 18
