1 4-H Short Course Insect ID Contest Study Program Prepared by Dr. Jack Baldwin Extension Entomologist
2 This program was designed to assist students in preparing for the Insect ID Contest. Participants should realize that it is not a substitute for studying the actual insect specimens.
3 Directions The objective is to learn to identify the required insects and assign each insect the correct common name, scientific order and pest/beneficial status.
4 Directions (cont.) Each insect is presented in a sequence of three color slides (pictures). The first slide shows only a picture of the insect. The second slide shows the picture and provides multiple choice questions for common name, order and pest/beneficial status. The third slide shows the picture with the correct common name, scientific order and pest/beneficial status.
