2 COLLIERVILLE SOCCER Program Overview Committed to Developing the Individual Player The Collierville Soccer Association Competitive program is dedicated the development of the TOTAL player. The organization believes success comes only as a result of proper training, development and commitment from the player, parent, coach and organization. Our coaches realize that through helping your players learn to play soccer, they will also have the opportunity to instill life lessons on teamwork, sportsmanship and character. Try-Out Policy and Team Formation All players who have the desire and commitment to play competitive soccer are encouraged to attend tryouts. The organization is committed to form as many age specific teams as qualified player numbers allow, in an effort to provide all players an opportunity to play competitive soccer. In the event there are not enough qualified players to form a complete age specific team, the coaches, Director of Coaching and Executive Director will pursue options including double-rostering of players, logical age combinations and additional tryouts/recruiting, in an effort to provide all players an opportunity to participate in the competitive program. Final player selections are made without regard to race, religion, creed, color, national or ethnic origin. The Coaching Staff has complete, autonomous authority over player evaluation and selection. The Competitive Committee assists only in an administrative capacity. The Competitive Committee and coaching staff recognize young players development progresses at different rates. At all age groups, team rosters are formed on the coaching staff s assessment of the individual players current level of development (most developed to greatest development needed) and that this level may change during the course of the year and from year to year. This process of organization and reorganization allows the player to progress at an accelerated rate, as the individual needs of the players and the team drives the training and development regimen of the teams coach. Winning is important. Ultimately all players, coaches and parents want to win. However, the and believe proper training and individual skills development should be the priority before the win/loss record. The take the long term view that your child should receive the training necessary to take them to the highest level they can achieve and ultimately give them the best chance at long-term success. A coach s primary mission is player development and they are evaluated not on their win/loss record but on how well their players learn and progress in soccer. 2
3 Soccer Affiliating with a national soccer organization, such as Rush Soccer, has had tremendous benefits. The Rush organization is the largest single soccer club in the U.S. The club has over 34,000 players, including tens of thousands of REC players as well as the largest TOPSoccer program in the country, among its 28 U.S. members and 18 international partners. Rush Soccer began as the Colorado Rush in 1997 and over the past 15 years has achieved a level of success unparalleled in the history of American youth soccer. Soccer America recently ranked the Rush Soccer organization in the top twenty of all youth soccer organizations in the U.S. The Rush affiliation will provide numerous new opportunities to our players such as RushFest, participation in showcase events on a Rush Select team, the College Assistance Program (CAP), and more. Rush Soccer is committed to providing an unparalleled soccer experience for all who have interest in the game of soccer. Rush Soccer promotes the development of character, the electricity of competition and the importance of pure enjoyment. We accept the responsibility of teaching life lessons to our athletes to further their growth inside the game and out. We believe that all players should be afforded an equal opportunity to explore their potential and participate in challenging circumstances that will yield positive outcomes. We are committed to making soccer a pleasant, safe and rewarding experience for everyone involved, regardless of age or ability. Through quality coaching, sound leadership and absolute sincerity, Rush Soccer will work to be the best soccer club in the nation. Rush Soccer s primary objective is to develop a national level club cooperative system that offers substantial opportunities for national corporate sponsorship and foundation support, provide the framework for a national coach and player development network, and will serve a significant centralized pool of talent for consideration by European, MLS, NCAA, US National and Olympic soccer programs. 3
