1 Ally Dingwall Aquaculture and Fisheries Manager- Sainsbury s Ally Dingwall is Aquaculture and Fisheries Manager at Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd and is a member of Sainsbury's Agriculture Team with responsibility for cross-category fish sourcing policy. Ally qualified with a degree in Marine Biology from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and has over 30 years' experience in the fish and seafood industry. He has worked in a variety of technical and production roles including farms, health and technical management at Marine Harvest in Scotland, global technical procurement at Pinneys of Scotland and Uniq plc and in operations management at Huon Aquaculture in Australia prior to joining Sainsbury's in He represents Sainsbury's within a number of fora including Fisheries Innovation Scotland, IFFO RS, Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative, Sustainable Seafood Coalition and Global Ghost Gear Initiative. He also sits on the Scottish Food Commission. In 2016 he was awarded the Seaweb Seafood Champion award for leadership in the field of sustainable fish and seafood. 1
2 Amanda Nickson Director International Fisheries- The Pew Charitable Trusts Amanda Nickson directs efforts to improve the conservation of tuna populations in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans through science-based policy development and advocacy. Nickson joined Pew in 2010 to lead advocacy efforts with regional fisheries management organizations, the international bodies that govern the treaties regulating commercial fishing on the high seas. Nickson's work addresses the overfishing of tuna and other valuable marine species in international waters and helps to conserve these increasingly vulnerable species and protect the ocean environment. Before joining Pew, Nickson worked for the World Wildlife Fund for nearly 12 years, most recently directing international efforts to protect threatened charismatic species such as tigers, pandas, and marine turtles. Nickson also developed and led WWF's Bycatch Initiative, a major policy and field program aimed at reducing the incidental catch of non-target species in fisheries in more than 20 countries throughout the world. 2
3 Annelie Selander Group Sustainability Director- Nomad Foods With 15 years of experience in the food industry, working for international companies like Nomad Foods and Nestle, Annelie Selander has a passion for developing strong and trusted brands, mostly on a regional or local basis, but lately on pan-european scale. With one foot in marketing and one in product development, she finds the area of sustainability to be the most critical, interesting but also challenging for the food industry for the future. With increasing interest and curiosity but also high expectations and demands from consumers, retailers, stakeholders in general, securing sustainable and responsible food production is crucial. In her current role as Group Sustainability Director for Nomad Foods, working with heritage brands like Iglo, BirdsEye and Findus is a privilege as well as a great responsibility. 3
4 Tor Bjørklund Larsen Sustainability Advisor- Norwegian Fisheries Association Tor Bjørklund Larsen has worked as a Sustainability Advisor for the Norwegian Fisherman's Association (NFA) since He manages sustainability efforts of the Norwegian fishing industry on behalf of the NFA, Norwegian Seafood Council and Norwegian fish sales organisations. This includes managing Norwegian MSC certified fisheries as well as potential new certifications. His interest in the seafood industry began in 2003, reflected by his Bachelors of science in Fisheries and first position in the field, working in Sensory Analysis at Fiskeriforskning (NOFIMA). He also took an interest in sustainable fishing early on, interning at the MSC in Continuing to study whilst working in the field, he completed his Masters of Science in Fisheries in 2007, as well as working as a trainee and later adviser for the Norwegian Seafood Export Council. 4
5 Nicolas Guichoux Global Commercial Director- Marine Stewardship Council Nicolas is the Global Commercial Director at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and has been with the MSC since During this time, he has had a key role in the development of the organisation to where the programme is today. Having graduated from the French Business School EDC, Nicolas started his career within international business in 1994 in South Korea at the French Chamber of Commerce. He was then appointed in 1997 as Export Manager for a leading French seafood processor, Cité Marine. Originally from Britany- the main fishing region in France- he was concerned by the increasing impact of fishing on the environment and on people s livelihood. This led him to join the MSC in 2002 as the Manager for continental Europe and he later became the Regional Director of Europe in He is currently responsible for ensuring that the MSC s global commercial and fisheries outreach is coordinated and delivered effectively and efficiently. He is also responsible for ensuring that both the supply and demand for certified and sustainable seafood is increased in line with the MSC s Integrated Strategic Plan s (ISP s) targets in Europe, as well as the Asia-Pacific and Americas. He provides leadership and strategic direction for dedicated regional teams, currently comprising of some 70 people around the world. 5
6 Rupert Howes Chief Executive- Marine Stewardship Council Rupert joined the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) in October Today there are more than 330 MSC certified fisheries, compared with 11 in 2004, and the number of MSC labelled products has increased from around 200 to over 28,000. This is accompanied by growing evidence that MSC certified fisheries are amongst the highest performing in the world, demonstrating their leadership and the continual improvements they deliver. Rupert has been internationally recognised for his work to promote sustainable fishing practices. In 2014, he was awarded a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Award, which recognizes leaders in sustainable social innovation. In 2009, he received the WWF Leaders for a Living Planet Award. He also received a Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship in 2007 for his contributions in establishing the MSC as the world s leading fishery certification and ecolabelling programme. 6
