1 SWAP SHEET Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association June 2011 Championship Shoot Results October 2011 Fall Blanket Shoot Schedule President s Column It s almost time for the October shoot and hopefully we will have some cooler weather. Don t forget that it starts in September this year. You will notice a couple of changes since June. Our Chief Range Officer, Tom Taylor, will be enforcing rule # A-10 which pertains to the use of flint shields for flintlock shooters and those of you who shoot vented percussion guns. We only had two in working condition but Tom rounded up enough broken parts to make about six or seven more and he talked Dustin Zirkle into welding them up. We may have to do some sharing until we can get a few more made. The other thing is not a new idea but rather a re-instatement of an old practice we did when I first joined the club. It will be like a raffle except you don t have to buy chances. All you have to do is save all of your receipts for everything you buy in Brady. Write your name on the back and drop them in a box for the drawing. The purpose is to show the Brady Chamber of Commerce how much money we bring into town and where we are spending it. I had a talk with them and they are receptive to the idea. I want to do this again in March and June so we will have an idea of how much we bring into the city on a yearly basis. So when you get into town fill up your tank and get a receipt. Please note: There will be an Officers & Board of Directors meeting on Friday, Sep. 30 th at 6:30pm at the Brady Chamber of Commerce. Don t wait until you re on the way home. If you eat out at a restaurant, keep your receipt and turn it in. If you buy a bag of ice or a donut, get a receipt. Nothing is too small. If you need to keep your receipts for your own records ask for another copy and turn it in. I will provide the prize but I don t know what it will be yet. I don t know if this will help us in our dealings with the city but it can t hurt. There will be a special meeting of the Officers and Board of Directors at the Brady Chamber of Commerce office at 6:30 PM on Friday Sept. 30. This is a follow-up to the June meeting to hear what Kevin has learned about a new website. It should be short. Remember the auction on Saturday night. The proceeds go to the prize table so bid high. If you have something to contribute it will be welcome. Also the Davie Boultinghouse rifle will be given away at this shoot. This is a real raffle so buy a lot of tickets. Davie has been very generous to make this donation so let s make it worthwhile. I hope to see you all there and having fun. Dave Neuses

2 Editor s Column Hello everyone. Hopefully by the time we all meet up together in late September, the dog days of summer will be behind us. These last few months have been just down right ugly in terms of the heat and the lack of rain. Let s all pray for a little cooler weather and maybe a rain shower or two while we re there. The June shoot turned out to be another great shoot. The daytime temperature s got to about 102 each day, but as the temps rose, so did the good shootin. There were a few 50 s turned in, but I think what got everyone s attention were the scores put up by the 1 st Timer shooters and our Junior shooters. Rachel Garner posted a 50XXX on the bear target at 25 yards in the 1 st Timers aggregate. Way to go Rachel!!! The Junior shooters.they keep posting some really good scores and it s showing with the amount of X s they re putting in their targets. These guys and gals are gonna teach all of us a lesson one of these days. Keep up the fine shootin ya ll. On Friday night of the June shoot, the Officers and Board of Directors met at the Brady Chamber of Commerce for it s annual June meeting and a handful of new officers for the year were elected. After 3 years as our president, Fred Greenway stepped down and has now re-claimed his spot on the firing line. His efforts over this period are very appreciated by all and we wish him luck in finding the 50XXXXX. Taking over the reigns as president will be Dave Neuses. With the ideas and knowledge that Dave brings to the table, I m sure he ll do a fine job for us over the next calendar year. A big thanks goes out to all of the outgoing officers for their time and hard work over the last year. Saturday evening at the General Membership meeting brought us a handful of new Board of Directors. Thanks to all of the outgoing board member s for their efforts and ideas. With the October shoot just a few weeks away, please remember to bring a registration prize worth at least $10 for the blanket. On Saturday evening, Oct. 1 st, the raffle and auction will take place up on the hill. There s gonna be the drawing for the Davie Boultinghouse rifle. Tickets for the.40 cal., full stock percussion rifle are located just a tad further back in this Swap Sheet. Monies from this raffle will go to the TMLRA capital acquisition projects fund. The auction will also have a bunch of goodies to bid on as usual. Charlie will lead us in the bidding once again. OK folks see you soon. 8 TEXAS MUZZLE LOADING RIFLE ASSOCIATION FALL SHOOT SEPTEMBER 29 th & 30 th, OCTOBER 1 st & 2 nd 2011 Brady, Texas RANGE RULES 1. All matches will be fired in a single relay, except bench rest matches identified in the program. 2. Sighters are allowed in all matches. 3. Minus scores count as zero. 4. N.M.L.R.A. rules shall prevail, with these exceptions: a. Minnie balls only in musket matches. b. Muskets are allowed to have wood removed from the stock. c. 60 and over years of age can use any metallic sights in any match. d. Targets must be completed in the relay or series of relays in which the first scoring shot is fired. e. No shooting jackets are allowed. 5. Rule books maybe purchased at the range house. 6. Each person MUST score their own targets before turning them in to the range officer. 7. Targets will be turned in at the end of each relay. 8. All relays will be 30 minutes long. 9. Relays will begin at 8:00 am. No relay will begin after 5:00 pm. The last relay Sunday will be the relay, which ends closest to noon. 10. Agg. Fees must be paid before any match in that Agg. is shot. 11. All buffalo guns, light bench guns and muskets will need to be inspected before any of those matches are shot, see the range chairman, range officer or the president. 12. Men and women must load their own gun. Assistants may not shoot for juniors. 13. Shooters must have their own Frame. One Shooter per frame. 14. Juniors under 16 may purchase matches or aggs in the under 16 years of age divisions and do not pay a $5.00 registration fee. 15. Juniors participating in non-junior aggs must pay the registration fee. 16. Individual matches purchased do not apply toward the aggregate award unless an aggregate is purchased. 17. APEBP -Any Position Except Bench or Prone- No part of the gun or shooter may rest on a shooting bench. No support may be attached to any permanent structure. FEES Registration $10.00 (No registration fee for Junior aggs.) Individual and aggregate matches Rifle & pistol $1.50 Shotgun $2.25 Silhouettes $5.00 Re-entry matches as noted in the match schedule JUNIORS (Under 16) No registration fee for Juniors. Matches fees only. REMEMBER THIS A PRIZE SHOOT BE SURE TO BRING A PRIZE WORTH AT LEAST $10.00
