I really want to enjoy parks with beautiful scenery and play some relaxing disc golf with friends or strangers Getting disc golfers involed on helping the build of the field/course I m a resident of plano and own a small business in Plano and have design experience so would love to help and volunteer Make the park a premiere, state of the art destination for professional disc golf tournaments. A disc golf course will bring people from out of town to play, specially a premier course Been playing 5+ years and it s a growing sport, disc golf courses bring in people from out of town Disc golf not only brings people to the parks but it also allows for people to get outdoors and move around. A new course Disc golf please. The sport has been growing exponentially over the last decade. New disc golf course Disc golf friendly, at least room big enough to practice The sport of disc golf is growing and a fun good way to exercise Need more disc golf You will attract so many new people from across the metroplex if you consider a new disc golf course Making this pro a disc golf course would be a great way to add a fun/active outdoor activity that all ages could enjoy Consider the value of bringing a disc golf course this close to home Disc golf is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and can be enjoyed with friends and family or alone. Have avid disc golfers as part of the course design so the courses are truly championship caliber I'm a pro disc golfer I will travel across the DFW area for high level disc golf courses and play at least once a week. Disc golf please make a better rated course than shawnee Disc golf is fun and healthy it helps people to get out and enjoy some awesome parks we have in Texas I travel weekly to McKinney to play disc golf. It would be wonderful to have a high caliber course closer to home I enjoy disc golf and am willing to travel around the country to do so. I have yet to visit Plano, but when of if I do, I will make it a point to play the local disc golf courses. I would love to see a new disc golf course in Plano.
APPENDIX - Q6 Safety of citizens during disc golf course design. Playing disc golf is a family sport, it's very important to have plenty of trees, trash cans and some park benches I want to grow the sport of disc golf especially in the Plano Area Join golf course with Pecan Hollow would prefer it be left untouched as much as possible Driving range should stay open for golfers 2 safety Quality Safety First Lots of trash cans, benches Trash receptacles need to be wide soread as well Setting each other up for a successfully fun & safe environment. Lots of trash cans/recycling bins for proper litter control. Keeping it clean, Safety, well-lit I think our parks should also be a safe place for dog owners and their dogs I want a place for my kids to play where they aren't neat water or a big road what would be most low maintenance Accessibility Create space for people to enjoy serenity without the sounds of playing children. Preserving the calm and safe atmosphere of the golf course Quiet places to enjoy nature Noise reduction I'm concerned about our street as well as the othersthat are wide open to the space that visitors will park on our street and I would somehow like to know that the culd-de-sacs that deadend into the golf course won't provide visitor access and How it will affect the neighborhood and traffic Traffic Nature > parking lots Keep as much natural beauty as possible Keep trees and nature areas. Please keep plenty of trees. Trees Open space Keep as natural as possible, open green space,, Using the land in its natural state. Not cutting down too many trees. don't remove too many trees To preserve wildlife habitat as much as possible. Maintaining some natural areas of land I want to see this land preserved as open space parkland. Please keep it all open space! Just update the club house and pool area for city use. Leave area as natural as possible
APPENDIX - Q6 Plant more threes!! Parks here are increadibly raw for the high temperatures. That this park should incorporate useable green space, like Bob Woodruff and Oak Point, with unpaved hike/bike trails Would hate to loose the "natural-ness, ie what trees there are along the creek and those planted on the golf course Preserve natural areas and wildlife habitat A lot of us that live there have bought golf carts and that I would like to use in the open space There are some very innovative parks in the nearby area (for example Hope Park in Frisco & celebration park in Allen as emphasis on ways to recreate with and in nature; access to woody areas A public park is a great way to get outdoors, see others in the neighborhoods and community and relax without a specific nice grassy areas and shaded tables Long-term preservation of parks and community Do not over-develop it, it should remain natural and not overbuilt with lots of facilities, buildings, I'd like a trail and recreational field space similar to what they have at Crowley Park in Richardson. longer trails, I would like to have long trails that I can bicycle the length of the city without getting on roads. connectivity of trails I love how the trails are connecting together so I can move around Plano and also connect to other cities Make bike trail connections to other parks and to Richardson trail system. Connecting the park to access locations on all sides. I always shop around the park for food, drinks, etc. mountain bike trails Trails Natural trails are just as important as sidewalks. Plenty of soft trails in wooded areas. All age groups. Would love a kayak trail from park to park using the creek Child friendly, hiking trails East Plano needs mountain bike trails Make this area free to access like Arbor Hills or Oak Point, Ponds with ducks Transparency Ability to give feedback...especially parents Listen to the citizens transparency Recreation needs of the community Reduce our property value The East side of town also needs a dog park or at least a dog A few basketball courts would be nice Bathroom facilities Seating I would like to see something for toddlers. Kids like to climb! Don t build play structures that they can t climb on Children friendly
APPENDIX - Q6 Include bathroom at park. Large splash park Interesting playground Shade, awnings, a splash pad works be awesome to offer! Bathrooms are very important for a family spending even a short time at the park Playgrounds Outdoor public pool and/ or splash pad would be nice at the current club house site Have ample restrooms I would love to see options to keep my toddler active and interested for outdoor play year round. Water features/bridges Parks are used for club practices & for individuals as well. The public should have fields available for these reasons, so they won't bother others Plenty of parking. 2 Shade Fishing areas Seating, covered area Buold a nice sand volleyball court with lights. Good lighting for evening players Family-friendly & safe, and if family-oriented space, Families with kids of all ages(including teens) Family friendly It is something that should be family friendly. Family friendly This area is full of families with kids. We have plenty of regular parks. We need a memorable park with attractions and Family friendly facilities/activities, Family friendly and feel like nature Kid friendly family and quality of health and life Family activity areas such as tables, grills, etc. Family friendly, What would be in the best interest of families now and in the future Play equipment maintained for families with young children, It needs to be family focused, lots of things for kids to do and enjoy. I want beautiful and unique. I want something that has a hint of Balboa Park in San Diego, the Ramble from Centeral Park, the echo feature like the one Love hanging out outdoors I suppose that people look to city parks as a means of getting outside and being active. Very easy going I'm glad that more residents of all ages will be able to use this space. Community events Most parks are multi-use parks, and professional design is a must in all aspects.
Distinct features The park should appeal to as many patrons as possible. Multi-use Appeal to wide audience, To utilize the space for multiple activities so that all groups can enjoy this park We would like for the area to have features not found in other city parks, 9 NO RESPONSE APPENDIX - Q6
APPENDIX - Q7 QUESTION 7 WHAT IS BIGGEST CONCERN RELATED TO PARK DEVELOPMENT WE SHOULD KNOW? Public Meeting # - Feb DISC GOLF DISC GOLF WILL AGAIN BE LEFT OUT MAKE SURE TO GET A GREAT COURSE DESIGNER HIRING THE BEST COURSE DESIGNER (DISC GOLF) 3 INCLUSION OF OTHER ACTIVITIES W/DISC GOLF 2 LIFETIME MEMBER OF LOS RIOS GC 2 KEEP GOLF COURSE 3 KEEP UP WITH 9 HOLES AT PECAN HOLLOW 3 FLOODING/ FLOODING CLEAN UP 3 CLEANLINESS 2 SECURITY 6 SAFETY 2 KEEP IT NICE DOGS POOP NOT CLEANED UP 4 MOWED FREQUENTLY 3 DEBRIS OUT OF CREEK EROSION 3 COST TO MAINTAIN 2 TIME IT WILL TAKE TO COMPLETE THE IMPROVEMENTS 9 RESIDENTIAL TRAFFIC 4 FOOT TRAFFIC 7 PARKING ON STREETS/ALLEYS 4 NOISE 3 SPORTS FIELD LIGHTING 3 OVER CROWDING/ OVER DEVELOPING 7 CROWDS 3 HOUSES/APTS/BUSINESSES BUILT DOGS WILL BARK 24/7 5 LOSING THE GREENSPACE/ NATIVE LAND PRESERVING TREES/WILDLIFE/ NATURE NO MORE HIKING TRAILS

Possibly designed by Paige Pierce herself, would add to Plano s already stellar bouquet of activities. Outdoor activities like disc golf are the key to better health. That this park will not be developed without a championship disc golf course. The land for this park is ideal for such a course, or two, and if developed properly, will generate a disc golf club that will assist in maintaining the course, and this club will sponsor tournaments that will bring in people from all over North Texas that will be spending their money in Plano. 4 Disc Golf You have a prime opportunity to put Plano as one of the top destinations for Disc Golf in the DFW area. If you hire someone like John Houck to design it, you will have people come in from outside of the DFW area to play. I know he has mentioned this project as a posibility, I would love to see a John Houck course in this area. More disc golf courses but need to have a safe design to protect bystanders. I just hope it gets turned into something good like a disc golf course and not just an empty field or apartments. Need better disc golf courses. Plano is a great city and will create a beautiful park but if a disc golf course is chosen to be put in, leave the design up to professional course designers and people from all over the area will want to visit Plano to play the course.
APPENDIX - Q7 Use professional course designers for a disc golf course. Disc golf rocks. I am most interested in this park becoming a top-tier disc golf course. The two best courses in the DFW area are in Mckinney and Rockwall, and they were both designed by John Houck. That's no coincidence. Even though they are far away, the quality of the courses warrant fairly frequent trips. Plano, even though it has a reputation nationwide as being such a nice city, only has Shawnee Park in terms of disc golf courses. While Shawnee Park DGC is serviceable and better than nothing, it's certainly not a destination course or anything particularly memorable. If people are willing to make the drive to Rockwall and Mckinney to play the quality of course that John Houck produces, a similar quality course in Plano is bound to be extremely popular. Our current disc golf course is not super functional, it is difficult to navigate and the course is not large enough to incorporate the full 8 holes. Lighting for night disc golf! Degradation of the quiet, safety and beautiful views enjoyed by residents that back up to the golf course. Make a premier course to bring tournaments and revenue to the area. Cost of golf at Pecan Hollow 6 Safety How much it floods. Use better modeling than was used on buckhorn. Our park is flooded every time it rains. Sun protection and water drainage. 2 Traffic Traffic - car and foot. Our house backs up to the western border of the proposed park. I m wondering how it will affect privacy. Flooding control Connection to other parks without getting on dangerous roads on the bicycle. Don't add too much concrete, which could worsen flooding in the area. Please plan for safety, both in the park and in nearby neighborhood, as well as parking and ease of access. Clean restrooms, water fountains, a place to wash hands, and safe parking are very important. Good drainage The congestion of people near our homes and parking on our street. Maybe the plans for parks pavilions, picknicking could be built on the opposite side and away from homes. Also the bathrooms built where there are no homes nearby. Also I think the existing buildings and parking could be used and provide access there where it already exists. We used to have some great pools there and my kids loved using the pools and work out room and social club in the summer. Safety & Quality Keeping walking paths out of interference with other activities the park may put into place. Creating enough Drainage. Unsafe course layout.
APPENDIX - Q7 Flooding Safety is a major concern and cleanliness Loss of naturalness and traffic and parking problems. Safety... perhaps install some cameras?? Make sure adequate parking...bring the balloon fest Security of the area behind our house. With open public access to the greenbelt, the risk for home invasion, robbery, vandalism increases dramatically. City of Plano needs to be diligent about making sure that the water channel for Rowlett Creek is kept clear of debris that would cause the water in the creek to back-up and cause additional flooding. As stated in Question 7 above, we do not want any roads, parking lots, sports fields, picnic pavilions, or other recreational facilities behind our property. In addition, the City of Plano needs to be diligent in picking up litter/trash left by park visitors. Well maintained and safety Too much concrete. Too much clearing land for fields and the water/maintenance they require Pedestrian paths and disc golf don't mix well. My biggest concern is bright lights, privacy invasion and traffic congestion. Also, home values plummeting are a big concern. People don t typically want to buy a home that looks at a pavilion and busy public area. That one day we may lose them to development. I'm not sure. Too many ballfields? There are a ton of those everywhere. Too many activities. Daily Crowding. I don't want it paved over with expansive parking lots. Maintenance The area must be maintained with frequent mowing, bush & tree trimming. In addition, when the area floods, a great deal of trash and plant debris is left behind once the water recedes. This unsightly, smelly mess needs to be removed on a timely basis after each flood (like last night). Heretofore, the golf course personnel have removed the mess. Will the City of Plano take care of this? We do not want large cutting equipment on our property that might damage our sprinklers. The city employees/contractors who cut grass must be informed as to where the property line is and stay on the other side of it. That it will be like the other parks - grass, sidewalk, playground. Looking for something much more usable and interactive. Maintaing existing natural areas, wildlife and the ability to view it. Preservation of green space. Parks should be built for the community, with more picnic areas, lakes, trees. Shading Shade! Conservation where appropriate. Native grasses and trees to be planted. Areas of shade for running paths with connection to other trails
APPENDIX - Q7 Impact to the natural scenery Preserve trees and natural habitat. Going in with good intentions and grand visions and then cheaping out. Proper use of a park that allows nature and activity to coexist is important. Keep the area natural; the creek should flow freely, cleanly, and with a lot of vegetation and wildlife around it. The welfare and habitats of all wildlife. The more natural features over man-made ones the better. and safety first Too much concrete, buildings, water fountains, etc to mess up the natural look and feel of a well laid out park. Loss of naturalness and traffic and parking problems. Environmental Impact Putting in cement areas and disturbing the area like what is happening to Oak Point Nature Preserve. Too much cement, not natural enough Filling it with dog parks and disturbing nature Removal of natural areas Connectivity of Bike trails between cities. Connect this area to Cottonwood Creek and Bob Woodruff South via concrete trails...or even soft surface with a potential for mtn biking as well as hiking. It would be nice if it connects to the other trails, so you wouldn't need to drive there. Offer variety. Also include some non-paved trails because they are easier on joints. Way too much concrete in current parks. Walking connections Accessibility. Ease of parking Making it accessible for all people Please plan for safety, both in the park and in nearby neighborhood, as well as parking and ease of access. Some of the neighboring arteries have no sidewalks or paths, making the park inaccessible. I live just south of the train tracks between Los Rios and Plano Rd, but there are no sidewalks to cross the train tracks on either road therefore it will be dangerous for me to access the new park. That the city will overlook the need for a playground here, accessible directly from the SW Park and Los Rios neighborhood. How it changes the neighborhood and how they have known it That it will be like the other parks - grass, sidewalk, playground. Looking for something much more usable and interactive. Basketball courts Having a space where individuals of all ages and abilities can enjoy. Having specified areas for the public to have access. Also to more & clean bathrooms. That it will be just another park with a slide and a few swings. We don t need another one of those - make it stand out.
I've seen newcomers ask if Plano has a spraypark. But the only one we have is at Plano Aquatic Center, which nonparticipating adults have to pay to use too. Safe clean restrooms. Please put in swings! Make sure there's ample parking near kid-friendly features like playgrounds and splash pads. There are very few restrooms closely located to playgrounds. This means we habe to troop all the kids far to use the restroom if any of us needs them. Also, fences around playgrounds make them much safer to use as we don't have to worry about kids running off or someone being able to take them without us noticing. Having one entrance/exit makes me feel more comfortable about utilizing the park. This is why I like Frontier park in Wylie. Though they do not habe restrooms. Trash, people abuse theirt parks...we need accessible and obvious trash receptacles. Multiuse Clean restrooms, water fountains, a place to wash hands, and safe parking are very important. Enough parking for everyone at the park is important. Another sport field park That the courses are designed with lots of thought. Not a course that looks like the design and instillation was an afterthought. That the city will overlook the need for a playground here, accessible directly from the SW Park and Los Rios neighborhood. Safety... perhaps install some cameras?? Make sure adequate parking...bring the balloon fest back to this area! Lack of courses in a growing sport. Being respectful players on & off the course, park goers are accepting of positive park activities & are aware & respectful of games in play. My biggest concern is bright lights, privacy invasion and traffic congestion. Also, home values plummeting are a big concern. People don t typically want to buy a home that looks at a pavilion and busy public area. That nothing of consequence is done to improve the property, and hence home values. It won t be finished Timing That parks land will be lost to future development projects. Smell 3 NO RESPONSE APPENDIX - Q7
