1 Message from the President Greetings and Happy New Year to you all. I trust you enjoyed a great festive season. Many of you have been out on the golf course with friends and family, which has been great to see. The course is looking fantastic and we have had many positive comments from visitors. I know it is a little hard having to share the course at this time of year, but it is a critical time for the club in terms of collecting revenue. Luckily the weather has been kind over the busy Christmas New Year period long may it continue. A big thank you to my committee for organising our successful Christmas tournament, albeit that we had to postpone for one week due to rain. I wonder if the Myers are still eating ham! Andy has been trialling a greens mower and it appears it will be a suitable replacement for our very unwell current mower. This is the first summer that we have enjoyed irrigation to all our tees. Thank you to Tom, Bruce and Keith the team managing the watering twice a week. We are just in the process of tweaking the Club Program for this year and will have it to you as soon as it is completed. In the meantime, happy golfing! Jenny

2 Course news Flags You may have noticed we have new flags in place on the greens. Thank you to Keith Dalton & Erna Brown for the printing and sewing of these. We are now looking for flag sponsors who will have their logos featured on the reverse of the flags see below if you are interested. Signage New putting green The new putting green is looking magnificent and has seen plenty of action over the summer. We have placed signage at a number of points on the course to remind non-golfers that it is not a public area. The decision was made due to concerns that the Golf Club may be liable for any injuries that occurred as a result of members of the public walking on the course. The signs now put the onus on them and not us and absolve the Club of any legal responsibility. Just to clarify, we lease the land from the Council just as Taupo and Mangakino Golf Clubs do.

This is for use of any person requiring it in the community. To open, unlatch and pull the door, it is not locked. Turn the AED on and follow the voice prompts. There is a second AED held at the Kinloch Store. 6 19 th Hole Sully s Salmon Log So many of you commented on how delicious the Salmon Log was at the trophy day that we asked Sully how he made it and he said It s very easy, you just ask my wife! So we did, and here is what Leigh said: Ingredients 250g tub original cream cheese (not lite or spreadable as it does not firm up properly) 1 Maggi onion soup mix 1 large tin of salmon Squeeze of lemon juice Method Mix it all together until it is all the same colour (a very pale pink) then shape into a log and wrap in tin foil. Put in fridge for 2-3 hours or better still overnight. Roll in chopped unsalted roasted peanuts and serve with crackers.
